This study was designed to describe the application of mathematics learning with metaphorical thinking in junior high school students. Mathematical learning with metaphorical thinking consists of six learning steps, namely foundation, connecting, compressed conflict, direct analogy, producing analogies, and applications. This research is a quasi-experimental study. The population of this research is all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta consisting of ten classes. Data collection techniques in this study is a test. The data in this study used a proportion test and paired sample tests with normal approximations. The results obtained are the method of learning mathematics with effective metaphorical thinking in junior high school students.

This research aims to determine the effect of Square Board Media with Quantum Learning model on learning outcomes, student and teacher activities and student responses in class VII-D students of Muhammadiyah 2 Junior High School Surabaya. This research is a type of quantitative research with the True Experimental method. The design used in this study is Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Samples taken were 52 students consisting of 26 experimental class students and 26 control class students. The results showed that the average final test score in the experimental class was better than the average test final score in the class control; (2) The most dominant student activity occurs is the activity of students "discussing with groups and actively participating in activities" with a percentage of 33%; (3) Teacher's activity in managing learning gets an average score of 3.5 with very good criteria; and (4) Student responses to learning showed that ≥ 90 students respond positively. Thus, it can be concluded that mathematics learning with Square Board Media has a positive and significant effect on class VII-D students of Muhammadiyah 2 Junior High School Surabaya .

The Indonesian education curriculum requires cultural involvement in learning process, with the aim that students can become generation that have character to preserve culture as the foundation of national character. Mathematical studies in culture are known as ethnomathematics. Ethnomathematics raises cultural wisdom as a mathematics learning resource that can motivate students in the learning process. One of the ethnomathematics objects is woven fabric. The various woven fabric motifs from each region are related to mathematics. One of them is the motif of Lipa Kaet fabric which is originating from the Riung area, Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This study aims to explore mathematical concepts that exist in the Lipa Kaet fabric from the Riung area, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques used are documentation, observation and interview. The analysis used is descriptive analysis so that it can present information about the relevance of mathematics and culture. According to the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between Lipa Kaet motifs and mathematics which is the concept of two dimensional-figure such as rectangular, rhombic, triangular and hexagonal. The motif can be used as a mathematics learning medium especially for junior high school students for the concept of two dimensional-figure.

Mathematical modeling was the ability to formulate natural laws into mathematical form. This ability was very important to support learning in fields related to calculations such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry. This research includes development research. The product developed as an instrument of mathematical modeling ability assessment in physics class. This instrument was analyzed and adjusted for the Rasch model. The variables that were used as a reference are validity, difficulty level, and reliability. Based on the analysis results, the MNSQ INFIT value of 1.01 ± 0.18 was obtained, which means that the developed instrument was compatible with the Rasch model so that the valuation instrument was declared valid. The level of difficulty in the analysis results obtained results of 0.00 ± 0.71 which means that the questions developed were mostly in the medium category. Furthermore, the reliability of the assessment instruments developed was 0.93, which means that the reliability of the developed assessment instruments was in the excellent category.

This study aims to analyze the ability of teachers to develop interactive learning media and also to analyze the usefulness of interactive media in learning mathematics. The subjects of the study included two seventh grade mathematics teachers and six seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 08 Batu. The method used in this research is a descriptive field method with a case study approach. While the research instruments used include documentation; observations, and interviews. The results of this study indicate that mathematics teachers are able to develop interactive media, but the resulting media is still relatively simple. In addition, the results of this study also show that the use of interactive media in learning mathematics can provide benefits.

This research in order to describe: 1) the implementation of problem solving approach type SSCS (search, solve, create, and share) on mathematics lesson; and 2) the students mathematical communications ability on implementation of problem solving approach type SSCS (search, solve, create, and share) on Muhammadiyah Junior High School of 8 Batu. The research type is descriptive with qualitative approaching. The research object is students mathematical communication ability in implementation of problem solving approach type SSCS (search, solve, create, and share). Data sources taken from all of students in the class with twenty persons there. The procure technique is by using observation and test. Data is taken by observation in order to get of students activity and students communication ability in verbal, and test session in order to get of students communication ability in writing. Data anilisys is by recon up totallity percentage for each indicator and totality percentage of achievement studens activity and totality percentage of student communication ability. The results of this research shows us that: 1) implementation of problem solving approach type SSCS (search, solve, create, and share) based students activity is “good” and has undergone in a line nased of all phases and include to learning steps in each phase. However, students still dependence of teacher’s explanation like usually, while student isn’t given in this approach. There for, this approach must be continue in the next so that get of maximum learning outcomes; 2) students communication ability in verbal and written in implementation of problem solving approach type SSCS (search, solve, create, and share) is “good”. However, students still need more times to practice in solve other mathematic problems, expecially on find out or write mathematic ideas.
