Computer simulation and optimisation of material handling systems 物料处理系统的计算机模拟与优化

All parties in today's supply chain have to face a tremendous pressure that results from the competitive market factors such as short product life cycle, stringent regulations and keen competition. For manufacturers and distributors, these factors are considered as driving forces for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of their manufacturing and distribution systems. In this respect, computer-based discrete-event modelling and simulation methodologies have emerged as a very useful tool to facilitate the effective analysis of these complex and uncertain operations. However, computer simulation alone may not guarantee optimal solutions in most situations. In this regard, this paper presents an optimisation framework that couples the process of optimisation and simulation such that the strengths of both techniques are leveraged. The proposed simulation-based optimisation framework integrates an immune-inspired algorithm with a simulation tool for determining optimal parameters of material handling systems. FEM assessment of the effects of machining parameters in vibration assisted nano impact machining of silicon by loose abrasives 松散磨料振动辅助纳米冲击加工中加工参数影响的有限元评价

In this paper, the commercial FEM software package ABAQUS 6.14/EXPLICIT is used to model a vibration assisted nano impact machining process by loose abrasives (VANILA), in which an atomic force microscope (AFM) is used as a platform and the nanoabrasives (diamond particles) injected in slurry between the workpiece (silicon) and the vibrating AFM probe impact the workpiece and result in nanoscale material removal. The FEM model is validated first and then is used to investigate the influence of impact speed, impact angle, and the frictional coefficient between the workpiece and abrasives on the nanocavity's size and depth. It is concluded that the impact speed, impact angle, and frictional coefficient between the silicon workpiece and nanoabrasives have substantial influence on the nanocavity's size and depth, the optimal size of which along with material removal rate might be achieved by simultaneously considering impact speed, impact angle, and frictional coefficient. Prediction of three-dimensional coordinate measurement of space points based on BP neural network 基于BP神经网络的空间点三维坐标测量预测

In order to improve the measurement accuracy of three-dimensional coordinate measurement system based on dual-PSD, this paper proposes a three-dimensional coordinate measurement method based on back propagation (BP) neural network considering the high ability of the neural network to deal with the complex nonlinear mapping problem. This method can describe the mapping relationship between three-dimensional coordinates of space points in the world coordinate system and coordinates of light spots on dual-PSD well. Levenberg-Marquardt learning algorithm is used to train the network, and then trained BP neural network model is used to predict three-dimensional coordinates of space points. Experimental results show that the average measurement error of space points obtained by the method is low. It proves that the built BP neural network model can be used to predict three-dimensional coordinates of space points. [Submitted 9 July 2018; Accepted 30 October 2018]

An integrated approach for multi-period manufacturing planning of job-shops 作业车间多周期制造计划的集成方法

In the present study, an integrated methodology of manufacturing planning has been formalised for a capacity constrained job-shop with consideration of capacity planning, loading, scheduling, and process plans flexibility for a given master production schedule. This study aims at generation of production schedules that are compatible with production plans developed at a higher level for feasible implementation at the shop floor. Performance of methodology is assessed for eight case studies from mean tardiness viewpoint. Results indicate that formalised integrated methodology is effective in the complex job-shop environment. Further, mean tardiness performance of integrated methodology is found better than that of the conventional hierarchical approach of manufacturing planning. Supplier evaluation and selection based on quality matchable degree 基于质量匹配度的供应商评价和选择

Supplier evaluation and selection is an important step during the manufacturing process for a product to meet quality requirements. This paper proposes a new supplier evaluation and selection model based on quality matchable degree. In this model, the quantitative and qualitative indicators are involved to describe the quality assurance of suppliers and the manufacturer. The matchable degree of the supplier is calculated according to the quality level of the manufacturer. The multivariate quality loss function method is used to determine the score of each supplier. The implementation of the proposed model is also given in details. An example is presented to illustrate the implementation of the proposed model. What guides information consensus? Approaching the reduction of equivocality in process innovations 什么引导信息共识?减少工艺创新中的模糊性

This study investigates the achievement of information consensus and the reduction of equivocality in process innovations. Drawing on the operations management literature, a new framework to guide information consensus in the reduction of equivocality in process innovations is proposed. The analysis is based on a real-time case study in the heavy vehicle industry. The results show that information consensus is not achieved by a single event, but active work towards this goal is necessary, and a clear set of pre-requisites is needed for achieving information consensus. The concepts of strategic objective, decision areas, and external and internal fit are identified as pre-requisites for achieving information consensus about the purpose, characteristics, and functionalities of process innovations. Managing the core plant role - key prerequisites from an operations perspective 管理工厂的核心角色——从运营角度看的关键先决条件

A core plant should be a centre of excellence, have a central role for knowledge creation, and ensure that the latest knowledge is diffused in the organisation's production network. Core plants can yield a range of benefits, such as increased resource efficiency and decreased costs in the production network. However, core plants face immense challenges in performing their roles, given the different interests of the different stakeholders that need to be satisfied. We use data gathered from an in-depth study of six core plants in Sweden to analyse the prerequisites. We conclude that the core plant prerequisites are influenced by human, organisational, and technological aspects, i.e., successful development of core plant capabilities can only be achieved if all the three components are considered together. Our findings are relevant to operation managers, plant managers, and others interested in developing and maintaining core plant excellence. [Submitted 01 March 2018; Accepted 18 March 2019]

Energy model for motion planning of 2D-belt press line tending robots 二维带式压线机器人运动规划的能量模型

A current trend in production is to reduce energy consumption where possible not only to lower the cost but also to be a more energy efficient entity. This paper presents an energy model to estimate the electrical energy consumption of 2D-belt robots used for material handling in multi-stage sheet metal press lines. An estimation of the energy consumption is computed by the proposed energy model based on the robot components' specifications, the robot path and trajectory. The proposed model can predict the energy consumption offline by simulation, and thus, before installation, avoiding the need for physical experiments. It is demonstrated that it can be used for predicting potential energy reductions achieved by optimising the motion planning. Additionally, it is also shown how to investigate the energy saving achieved by using mechanical brakes when the robot is idle. An estimation of the energy consumption is computed by the proposed energy model based on the robot components' specifications, the robot path and trajectory. The proposed model can predict the energy consumption offline by simulation, and thus, before installation, avoiding the need for physical experiments. It is demonstrated that it can be used for predicting potential energy reductions achieved by optimising the motion planning. Additionally, it is also shown how to investigate the energy saving achieved by using mechanical brakes when the robot is idle. Assessment of a cost-model on sustainability for a proposal for a framework for the evaluation of sustainable manufacturing 对可持续性成本模型进行评估,以提出评估可持续制造业的框架建议

A process-oriented, performance-based cost-model for manufactured parts has been assessed in its ability to capture sustainability. Literature has been reviewed and found 108 sustainability indicators, which have been compared with the input parameters in the cost-model. Based on a gap analysis, a framework for sustainable production evaluation has been developed. The framework considers performance-based production costs of a product, along with overhead costs, and selling price, giving the product surplus. Additionally, there is a spider-web chart of sustainable factors presenting current state and target values of the product's sustainability. The framework has mainly been developed for SME's boards, but also for production managers in larger firms. Hopefully, this framework will help companies assess their sustainability, with respect to economy, the environment and social responsibility, contributing to a small part of the efforts needed to provide a more sustainable world for the future. CompleXity index (CXI) is a method that measures perceived production complexity. CXI was applied in the assembly and material-handling department at a manufacturer in the automotive industry, followed by workshops. The aim of the article was, based on the results, to investigate if CXI could be used to capture and transmit a current situation and be used by the operators and managers for improvement work. A high CXI level was measured for most of the production areas. The areas were mainly perceived as complex due to work variance and station design. The workshops revealed that the operators felt identified with the results and thought the method could be used to discuss their situation in detail.
