Software Maintenance is a complex activity especially when performed by geographically distributed teams for long running projects or products spanning multiple versions. Additional factors such as attrition and outsourcing make it extremely challenging for software maintenance teams to meet quality requirements and ensure customer satisfaction. Even with the adoption of process-oriented approaches such as the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) along with MIS systems the challenges in software maintenance are not completely alleviated. This paper presents a framework for an intelligent collaborative environment - Collabra that supports smarter software maintenance. Built over existing configuration management tools like Clear Case and utilizing information from the bug and patch delivery databases, Collabra attempts to codify expert knowledge within the team. It also facilitates greater information sharing by organizing the team into a peer-to-peer content sharing network enabling greater collaboration. Collabra can greatly reduce the turnaround time for software maintenance activities by ensuring availability of the relevant information to the team members in a seamless manner.

The development of digital libraries in Poland was initiated about ten years ago with the start of the dLibra project. This project was aiming for the creation of a software package to facilitate building flexible digital libraries for scientific and cultural institutions. The success of the package and the idea behind it caused rapid increase of the number of digital libraries, reaching 60 on-line instances and 600 000 digital objects in the first half of 2011. Wide use of open protocols and metadata standards was the base for connecting these libraries into a country-scale infrastructure based on distributed services. The need for an integration point of several services induced the establishment of the PIONIER Network Digital Libraries Federation. This paper describes the current state of the digital libraries cyberinfrastructure in Poland, with a focus on two aspects of it - on services available for end-users, digital libraries creators and external systems, and on selective metadata streams flowing through the infrastructure. These selective streams allowed making a connection between Polish digital libraries and pan-European services like DART-Europe or Europeana. In case of Europeana it was the first metadata transfer with such scale of the distribution of source metadata providers.

In the paper the electronic application is introduced which was designed within the project “A flexible model of the ICT supported educational process reflecting individual learning styles” running at the Faculty of Informatics and Management, University of Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic since 2010. The main project objective is to verify whether accommodating individual learning styles results in increasing the level of learner's knowledge. The paper introduces the C. A. Johnston's approach to learning styles, including the Learning Combination Inventory which was applied to detect individual student's style. The results are considered by the application which was designed to generate and offer the appropriate type of study materials and related learning activities according to individual student's preferences, and thus enable to tailor the process of instruction to the student's needs.

A micropayment scheme provides an efficient way for electronic payment with small face value. It is suitable for environments that require frequent transactions such as pay-per-view movie, video streaming, etc. Recent researches on micropayment introduce additional properties such as user anonymity and fairness in micropayments. However, existing schemes may lose efficiency while achieving the new properties. In this paper, we propose an anonymous micropayment scheme which achieves user anonymity and fairness at the same time. Besides, the broker's participation in the proposed scheme is offline. The user can make multiple payments with single withdrawal, and that is more efficient. Our scheme is a postpaid micropayment scheme which is more attractive to users compared with a prepaid one. To our knowledge, it is the first micropayment scheme meeting the above properties simultaneously.

Blogs change the ways to acquire information and the ways to present creativity. Bloggers share their creative ideas and articles on blogs. These creations (such as articles or figures) can make visitors stick on blogs and can bring in streams of people. Thus, it is important for blog services providers (BSP) to stir up bloggers to develop creativity. This study incorporates creativity theory and perspective of network embeddedness to explain the antecedents of bloggers' creativity. A model of the blogger's creativity was proposed in this paper. In this model, network embeddedness (structural embeddedness and relational embeddedness) positively influences the blogger's creativity. Besides, the blogger's motivation and integration capability are key moderators which positively moderate the relationship between network embeddedness and creativity in the research model. Understanding this issue will contribute to creativity research agenda and will help BSP to obtain advantages.

This paper provides a snapshot of costs involved in a domestic internet connection in the developing world to understand the basis of the growth of information society. Using data taken from various internet service providers and converting it to US Dollars using both direct conversion rate as well as purchasing power parity, the cost of net from an individual's point of view is analysed. The study suggests that basic internet is still costly in major parts of world to encourage meaningful growth of information society.

The rapid increase of information on the Internet is currently a key issue when one is looking for relevant information. At the same time, in the political sector, the amount of available information about candidates and political parties is also increasing. This is becoming a significant problem for voters when they face election processes that require them to select their representatives from a big list of candidates since, in many cases, the candidates are relatively unknown to their constituents. Additionally, the creation of political communities interested in addressing political issues is a hurdle yet to overcome. In this work, an advisor for elections and creation of political communities based on fuzzy logic is presented. The recommendation engine works with a modified fuzzy c-means algorithm and the Sammon mapping technique used for visualization of recommendations. First results demonstrate the potential for building political communities and the stimulation of civic participation.

This paper presents the design of a platform of electronic marketing called “MiMercado”, aimed at the community of Ciudad Bolivar locality in Bogota Colombia. The platform allows the offering of products and services to local residents and aims to improve competitiveness and economic development of local enterprises; especially small and medium enterprises, allowing in the process the creation of new market opportunities and business objectives. Also in this paper is shown a socio-economic study of the Ciudad Bolivar locality, that allow the reader to be located in the society above which the platform is implemented, finally is submitted the structural design and application software deployed in a virtual server on the Internet.

The sources of information on the Web relating to Fine Art and in particular to Fine Artists are numerous, heterogeneous, and distributed. Data relating to the biographies of an artist, images of their artworks, location of the art-works, and exhibition reviews invariably reside in distinct and seemingly unrelated sources. This paper presents a solution to the problems of heterogeneity and distribution of Fine Art Data. The techniques of intelligent information retrieval and classification are examined as methods to retrieve and classify web-based information on the subject of Fine Art and Artists. A prototype computer application, implanted in Java coupled with XML, demonstrates a possible solution to the problem. This constructs relevant links between heterogeneous sources of Fine Art data by aggregating, classifying and re-presenting it, in an intelligent and automated manner. Open data from a variety of web resources are utilised, including The Guardian's Open-Platform, The Brooklyn Museum's API, and The Victoria and Albert Museum's API. In re-presenting this information via a Web interface, the project increases the accessibility of Fine Art Data.

This paper presents a new structure for Adaptive Learning Object Repository (ALOR) towards unified Web-based educational systems. The need for adaptability in the current e-learning systems has been outlined in many different researches, due to the negative effect of “one-size-fits-all” approach in the development of educational courseware. Different systems have been introduced as prototypes towards providing adaptability in a smaller scope of two or three courses, and no definite solution or a framework has been provided for “Adaptive Unified E-learning Repositories”. The objectives of the “ALOR” approach is to provide adaptability in unified e-learning environments, where more than one university and multiple faculties can participate in adding and updating learning objects such as documents, audio/video files, etc. The ALOR structure will give the student the privilege of accessing a dedicated learning space where he can view and interact with the course materials that have been adapted to suit his preferred learning style using video, audio and kinesthetic materials.
