This paper presents a current driver for an integrated angular acceleration sensor readout circuit. The architecture of the proposed amplifier consists of a voltage follower and an inverting amplifier to achieve a differential output. The amplifier and the follower are based on a three-stage class AB operational amplifier with a power output stage. The output current of current driver is controlled by input voltage and has a maximum value of 80 mA. The proposed circuit is designed in 0.18 μm CMOS technology. The typical output current flow in an equivalent sensor load of 50 Ohm is 10 mA with a rise time of 40 ns.

Modern telecommunication systems are piqued for/by high data rate to improve reception quality. High data rate can be, naively, achieved using increased bandwidth. Since bandwidth is a limited resource, we study a method of maximizing system performance by improving data rate of communication systems via diversity gain. This followed from multiple input multiple output (MIMO) scheme provided by space-time block coding (STBC). The new method uses Hadamard matrices to form a quasi-orthogonal STBC (QO-STBC) code structure that is void of some off-diagonal terms in the detection matrix thus maximizing the system performance. The code structure significantly improves the MIMO system performance consequent on the analytical provisions.

This paper addresses the design and optimisation of a physically small and cost effective printed antenna for full-band UWB radio applications. A genetic algorithm assisted optimisation is used to achieve the physical dimensioning and full-band operation. The antenna is realized as a printed slot cut radiator fixed over a trapezoidal ground plane, the antenna dimensions are 21.6mm × 18.8mm × 1.6mm. The prototype antenna performance is in line with the FCC regulations, with an impedance bandwidth of 10 dB or better across the 2.1GHz - 13.2GHz frequency range, and a suitable omni-directional radiation pattern.

This paper gives an overview of our recent work on implementing a new interactive ATL model checker for verification of open systems. In verification based on model checking, we need to provide a model of the system and also write down the properties (ATL formulas) that we require the system to satisfy. Traditionally, the semantics of ATL is given in terms of concurrent game structures. In contrast to previous approaches, our tool permits an interactive design of the ATL models as state-transition graphs, and is based on client/server architecture. The server part, published as Web service in OpenShift cloud platform, embeds the core of the ATL model checker, and the client provides an intuitive graphical interface for interactive design of ATL models. Our original implementation of the model checking algorithm is based on SQL queries. Several APIs are available for programmatic construction of large models.

One of the most important developments of Telecommunications networks in the last few years has been centered around the provision of resources for streamed and real-time data. Since it is necessary to guarantee the delivery of packets then a reliable Transport Protocol is required i.e. TCP. However TCP has a number of parameters that need to be configured for different services to optimize the delivery of packets. Selection of values for these parameters is vital since they can affect the overall performance of the network. Intersegment Interval is such a parameter and this paper investigates of selecting this value based using a fuzzy interference approach. A telecommunications network has been simulated in Matlab and the results obtained have been presented in this paper.

Evolution of information technologies and increased automation of manufacturing processes allow organizing the control of remote dynamic objects at real-time operation mode. The application of web-technology for organization of human machine interface makes it possible to conduct data-processing via local network and Internet. This paper is devoted to processes of identification of dynamic properties of an object in the whole spectra of different conditions and limitations. This paper gives a description of the multicomponent method of the dynamic objects identification under a priori uncertainty about length of weight function. The analytical approach is matched with computer simulation.

Computational and data intensive processes are increasingly driving collaborative research in science and technology. Large amounts of data are being generated in experiments or simulations and require real-time, or near real-time, analysis and visualisation. The results of these evaluations need to be validated and then published quickly and openly in order to facilitate the overall progress of research on a national and international basis. Research is increasingly in large teams and interdisciplinary as many of the major research challenges lie at the boundaries between existing disciplines. A move to open access for peer reviewed publications is gaining traction in the sector. At the same time, communication and dissemination procedures are also utilising non-traditional forms facilitated by new developments in social networks. It is proposed that these elements, when combined, constitute a paradigm shift in the model of research and the dissemination of research results.

In this paper a distributed authentication scheme based on independent session key per access network (HOISKA) is proposed for the decentralized multi-service group key management scheme in a wireless multicast environment. It enables a handover user Mi involved in multiple multicast service subscriptions to establish the long term credential from the trusted authentication server (As) during initial registration. The Mi then securely reuses the long term credential established to derive unique session keys per access network during handover across diverse access networks. The distributed nature HOISKA enables offloading the authentication function to the area network controllers (AKDs) such that As does not participate during handover authentication signalling. This simplifies handover by reducing handover exchange signalling constituting to less handover delays. Two scenarios for HOISKA, initial handover access (IAA) and Handover Access authentication (HAA) are presented then analyzed using the delay analytical model. The HOISKA model proves efficacy in both scenarios by inducing less transmission delays with comparable level of security compared to the widely deployed authentication scheme.

Play for Health (P4H) is a telemedicine service consisting of a telerehabilitation platform to improve cognitive and physical deficits through the use of serious games and various videogames controllers. This paper states that there are issues that could benefit the rehabilitation process using serious games. We present the P4H platform as an example of success in telerehabilitation based on serious games.

Machine-to-Machine Service Architecture is being developed and standardized to build a universal horizontal integration platform for many devices and domains. Related visions such as Smart Home, Smart Cities and Intelligent Transportation Systems are realized by distributed M2M applications. Thusly, adequate data exchange capabilities are significant, since the ability to tailor the actual data exchange to the requirements of the use-case directly relates to the resulting network requirements. This paper investigates the status quo of data exchange and interworking of M2M applications and devices based on an automotive scenario. This motivates enhancements; in particular data-dependent filter criteria for subscribe/notify mechanism including local aggregation and harmonization of different subscriptions on the same resource. Lastly, two alternative approaches to implement these enhancements are presented and discussed.
