Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) for secondary usage of underutilized radio spectrum is currently of great interest for radio regulatory authorities and for cellular network operators. However, the co-existence of multiple devices operating in the same bands, such as wireless microphones which also operate in TV bands, poses a challenge to DSA. Efficient and proactive spectrum sensing could prevent harmful interference between collocated devices, but existing blind spectrum sensing schemes such as energy detection and schemes based on Random Matrix Theory (RMT) have performance limitations. We propose a new blind spectrum sensing scheme for cognitive radio. The proposed scheme uses a new formula for the estimation of noise variance. The scheme has been evaluated through extensive simulations on wireless microphone signals and shows higher performance as compared to energy detection and RMT-based sensing schemes such as MME and EME. It also shows higher performance in terms of probability of detection (Pd).

Analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are devices which accept entrance analog signals and generate digital signals corresponding to them, suitable for processing by microprocessors and other digital devices. Requirements to ADCs constantly become tougher: they should provide high frequency and accuracy of transformation, to have a wide bandwidth and the big dynamic range. That's why it is important to design ADC with high accuracy.

In this paper, a low-cost dual-band printed antenna that employs Sierpinski fractal geometry is proposed for possible integration to IEEE 802.11n WLAN standards access points. The designed antenna covers two wireless spectrum bandwidth, they are the ISM 2.4 GHz and the U-NII 5 GHZ. The antenna geometry is confined within a compact size of 75 × 75 × 1.8 mm3. The antenna is mounted on partial ground and fed by microstrip line. It is modelled and optimized using the well-known CST software and the results in terms of reflection coefficient, VSWR, Bandwidth and power Gain are illustrated and compared to previous published literatures.

Yuan blue-and-white porcelain has importanthistorical and cultural significances. A multi-perception display technique adopting holography and music for Yuan blue-and-white porcelain is investigated in this paper. The selected art work is the Zhao Jun Chu Sai Jar, where Wang Zhaojun (a famous woman in Han Dynasty) is playing lute. When the audience is near the holographic display, they can be detected by the electronic sensor and the music of the lute will be broadcasted. Hence, more narrative and perception are provided.

Traffic classification and statistical trend analysis are critical steps for workload characterization, capacity planning and network policy configuration in computer networks. Additionally application level traffic classification aids in profiling user traffic based on application usage trends. However, user traffic profiling integration in real-time network resource management remains challenging due to variation in user traffic behaviour, requiring repeated manual configuration updates in traditional fixed topology networks. Software defined networks (SDN) on the other hand, due to their centralized control and real-time programmability of network elements, may offer a potential avenue for application based user traffic profiles to effectively allocate and control network resources. In this paper we evaluate the accuracy of developing meaningful user traffic profiles from application usage trends based on traffic flow analysis using k-means clustering algorithm and explore their applicability to software defined networks for real-time traffic management. The results show a considerable variation in application usage trends and associated network statistics among user traffic profiles leading to further propose implementing per profile flow metering and re-routing of resource intensive traffic profiles via different links for effective real-time network resource management in software defined networks.

Body Area Networks (BANs) are considered as the key building blocks for the emerging application of upcoming generation of networks that would be extended towards the wearable technology as well as the Internet of Things. Starting from the traditional network scenarios to today's advanced network infrastructure, BANs have played a very significant role in developing the computer network industry and specifically the medical sector as well. This paper/ article describe several composite research-based approaches for Topology Control (TC) for BANs while considering the network performance. TC considered being major network parameters that profoundly influence different network metrics including the network traffic. Also we discuss on different BAN topologies that should be selected according to the foreseen medical application and the deployment environment. TC techniques have been widely used in Wireless Sensor Network (BANs are one kind of sensor network) so as to reduce the energy consumption, to extend the network operational time, to reduce radio interference and to prove a positive effect on the network traffic carrying capacity etc. In this paper, we also state several problems that are related to the topology control particularly in BANs environment and outline how TC largely influences several parameters on network performances. Our survey also explains about how TC techniques can be intelligently used to enhance and increase the network performance in BANs according to relevant medical application.

The suppression of the spectral line is an issue of major interest in the design of compliant Time Hopping Impulse Radio (TH-IR) Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) systems. This issue has been commonly addressed by randomizing the position of each pulse. In practice; it requires the use of very long Pseudo Random (PR) or Pseudo Noise (PN) sequences to approach the spectral line suppression capabilities. This would be achieved by using an ideal random sequence. This paper aims to enhance the Power Spectral Density (PSD) by building the proposed system inside Simulink/Matlab to test some codes for eliminating the spectral lines or make it smoother to reduce the harmful interference problem on other users. This is proposed to be applied without affecting the users of other applications.

This paper discusses options for using brute force methods for the distribution of complex tasks in hierarchical systems. The proposed algorithm is based on finding the optimal distribution of load between the executive elements at a predetermined structure. A simple hierarchic structure has been used as an example to investigate the functionality of the algorithm's software implementation.
