The present study attempts an ecocritical approach to Rose Tremain's memoirs Rosie: Scenes from a Vanished Life (2018). Ecocriticism is concerned with the literary representation of man-environment relationship; it is a literary theory that engages diverse disciplines of humanities and science. Based on this propensityforinterdisciplinarity, this study draws on Greek mythology; the Gaia-Prometheus myth; science, James Lovelock's Gaia hypothesis; and ecology, the dichotomous concepts of human-nature connectedness and ecophobia. Dividing the different generations in the memoirs into two, the elders and the youngster, the study investigates how these generationsrelate to nature; which generation enjoys an interconnected stance to nature, and which one holds an ecophobic attitude. What nature represents to these generations, andthe effect of their different allegiances with it on their lives are approached. The study also traces the failures and successes of these members and shows to what extent they are conditioned by their different stances toward nature.

Culture-specific terms reveals many translation problems since the target reader is not aware of the details of the source culture and the translator is not always capable of clarifying every time he comes across a culture-specific term. The successful translator has to be familiar with cultural elements of the source text and know how to convey them with the same functions to the target readers. The present paper is a study of non-verbal communication as a culture-specific in the Arabian societies. The researcher extracts the selected non-verbal communication examples from Radwa Ashour`s novel Granada. The study attempts to make an approach to the English translation of the problematic area of non-verbal communication as a culture-specific item in the Arabian culture, the outcome of this thesis can be used for analysis and helping translators to deal with this problematic area. The researcher adopts the Skopos theory of translation to analyze the translation of the extracted non-verbal communication examples.

تناولت هذه الدراسة بالشرح والتحلیل أسس الاحتجاج اللغوی للقراءات الشواذ التی اختارها الإمام الهذلی فی الکامل، وبیان سمات منهجه فی الاحتجاج وبعض المآخذ التی تؤخذ علیه . وقد جاءت الدراسة فی أربعة محاور شملت: ضوابط الشاذ عند الإمام الهذلی، وأوجه الاختلافات بین القراءات الشواذ التی اختارها ونظائرها من القراءات المتواترة، وأشکال توجیهات الإمام الهذلی لما اختاره من قراءات شواذ، وسمات منهجه ومناقشاته وأدلته وبعض المآخذ التی تؤخذ علیه. وقد استعرض الباحث فی هذه الدراسة دور السیاق القرآنی فی اختیارات الإمام الهذلی من القراءات الشواذ واحتجاجاته لها، کما اهتم ببیان الأدلة التی استند إلیها والحجج التی احتج بها وتحلیلها، وقد أسفر ذلک عن رسم واضح لشخصیة الإمام الهذلی فی اختیاراته بعامة وفی احتجاجاته لما یختار بخاصة.

One of the major problematics that face the Egyptian students of German Language, as a foreign language, is changing the singular into plural. This difficulty is due to the big differences between both languages: Arabic and German languages, as the plural in German language has many grammatical forms with various morphological endings not even approved by consensus of the German grammarians. Pragmatically and practically, this research tackles this topic through a group of Egyptian students of German Language as a foreign Language in Egypt. Thus, this study emerges some of these students problem’s on forming the plural through actualized given examples of many singulars and other artificial singulars included within the study. Hence, this research attempts at answering the coming question: 1. To what extent can the Egyptian students perfect forming the plural German forms? 2. What are the most common mistakes on forming the plural in German language? 3. What are the criteria adopted by the students to structure the plural in German language? The study shows the coming results: The most difficult form of plural in German language is such one which is not different from the singular. Die Behandlung literarischer Werke und die Vermittlung von literaturwissenschaftlichen Inhalten gehören zu den Bausteinen einer germanistischen Ausbildung und sind essentielle curriculare akademische Vorgaben. In der internationalen Germanistik und mit der Entstehung des Fachbereichs DaF haben sich theoretische Ansätze in der fremdsprachlichen Literaturdidaktik entwickelt, deren Ideen in unterschiedliche Lehrmaterialien für den fremdsprachlichen Literaturunterricht Eingang gefunden haben. Gleichzeitig sind zur Systematisierung des Fremdsprachenerwerbs Referenzrahmen auf europäischer und regionaler Ebene entstanden – wie der GER für den Fremdsprachenerwerb oder die ägyptischen Referenzstandards (NARS) für die universitäre Fremdsprachenphilologie –, die ein gemeinsames Fundament für sprachliche Fertigkeiten anstreben und damit internationale Gültigkeit zu finden beabsichtigen. Der Beitrag stellt vor diesem Hintergrund den Stellenwert von Literatur und Literaturwissenschaft in den genannten Referenzrahmen vor und untersucht anschließend, inwieweit moderene Ansätze am Beispiel des Materialbandes Literatur Lesen Lernen von Dobstadt/Riedner (2017) den Anforderungen und Standards dieser Referenzrahmen gerecht werden.
