The paper discusses to the application of Design Pattern (DP) and encryption algorithms in Information Systems (IS) in order to protect Information Security (ISec). The paper presents attack vectors, protection approaches and the ISO standard, generalizes classification of DPs, which are used in IS to protect ISec, compares encryption algorithms. The present paper proposes an approach for the use of DPs and algorithms for encrypting and decrypting data, using the algorithm Secure Hash 256 (SHA256), as well as authentication of the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol).

As is known the plasma treatment inactivates microbial pathogens, mainly bacteria, fungi, and viruses and is widely used for sterilization of medical and dental devices, as well as agricultural products. This article reviews the existing problems connected with the disinfection/sterilization of heat-sensitive biomaterials and structures as: skin, wounds, meat animal products, etc. The design of a new type low-temperature plasma disinfection/sterilization accessory featuring small size and easy usability is presented. The achieved results at initial tests are evaluated in the context of applicability for sterilization procedures in medical practice.

Engineering research, as well as industrial measurements, require measuring extremely low values of current or voltage. This paper proposes a four channel current monitoring system for measuring very low values of current in the range of 10uA – 100mA and the received information treated by software from a personal computer. The measuring modules are activated by the user. A specialized amplifier type PGA281- with programmable amplification is used.

The main goal of this paper is to present the development and testing of a simplified SDR-based system for monitoring the VHF and UHF radio frequency band for the territory of the town of Gabrovo. The system is based on the widespread SDR module with ICs RTL2832U/R820T. The principle of the system implementation and test results from its local and remote use in monitoring signals from local VHF radio stations and the amateur radio frequency range from 144 to 146 MHz are presented.

The paper presents a study of a power electronics device, based on a series resonant circuit with a parallel loaded capacitor. Two circuits are reviewed in consideration: a Buck DC-DC converter and a resonant parallel-loaded inverter. The difference between the two circuits is only in the relationship between the switching frequencies and the resonant frequency. In the first case, the operating frequency is equal to the resonant, and in the other case, the control frequency significantly exceeds the resonant tank frequency (at least over 2-3 times). The main purpose of the manuscript is to present the influence of the tolerances of the resonant elements on the operating modes of devices that share the same topology. This way, an assessment is made of the dependence of the output indicators on the tolerances and, accordingly, how to look for solutions to ensure the output parameters.

The paper applies quantification approach for the assessment of the result of entrepreneurship activities in resource allocation. It has been used model from the portfolio theory by means to maximize the investment profit and to minimize the risk. Numerical application is given with equities from the Bulgarian Stock Exchange with recent market data. The calculations are illustrated with Excel software suit, which allows practical usage of the developed sheet, programmed in a way to optimize the financial resource allocation.

The work is focused on the implementation of infrared sensors to the functionality of a smart home system. The requirements for this type of systems are considered, what are the disadvantages of previous solutions related to remote object recognition by measuring the temperature in the home environment. Experiments have been performed with various methods to minimize measurement errors. The reading of the temperature information in different situations is described.

A lot of nursing home residents suffer health issues such as pressure ulcers, night walking and incontinence. Previous research shows that these issues have a clear link with motion patterns of patients during bedtime. This paper examines if unobtrusive activity tracking can be done in the bed via accelerometers on the mattress. We show that, with enough training on accelerometer data from variable conditions, a high accuracy can be achieved.
