The results of studies of wear characteristics during friction of the surface layer of parts after the use of combined processing methods are presented. For an effective combination of methods, mathematical models for the selection of optimal combinations have been created. It is shown that various combinations of electrical, magnetic, chemical, mechanical and thermal influences form a whole range of combined processing methods that ensure the reliability and durability of parts operated under different friction conditions.

Experimental evaluation of the metal plastic flow in the mechanical processing processes is an important task both to substantiate the correctness of the solutions obtained by finite element modeling, and to formulate reasonable recommendations for establishing modeling boundary and initial conditions. One of the effective methods for estimating of the material particles movement during various processes is the particle image velocimetry method (PIV). To implement this method for the processes of cutting and deep rolling, it is necessary to ensure high requirements for experimental equipment. Analysis of the existing CNC machines characteristics has shown the required characteristics are not fully provided. Therefore, a special CNC machine was developed and manufactured for experimental research, providing high drive power, rigidity, vibration resistance and accuracy.

The paper proposes the composition of the saturating powder mixture and the method of thermal diffusion chromium plating using cumulative gratings, which ensures reliable production of an increased diffusion layer of chromium on the internal parts of the parts. The paper presents the results of saturation of bushings made of steel 40NiCrMo4KD at a temperature of 1000 °C for 24 hours using a nickel cumulative grating with a perforation density of 1 hole by 2 mm2. The control of the elemental composition of the diffusion layer was carried out on transverse sections in the direction from the saturating surface to the base metal of the sample using a JEOL JSM-6460 LV universal scanning (scanning) electron microscope. X-ray phase analysis (XPA) was carried out on an Ultima IV diffractometer, the radiation used was Cu Kα. The microhardness of the coatings was measured using an FM-800 microhardness tester. The use of a cumulative grating for the inner surface of the sleeve provided an increase in the depth of the chromium diffusion layer by 20 %. It is also shown that the use of a cumulative grating provides additional nickel alloying of both the surface of the saturating metal itself and the emerging outer diffusion layer, which leads to an increase in their hardness by 100...200 HV compared to similar areas saturated without the use of a cumulative grating.

The change in the dimensions of parts after diffusion saturation of alloyed steel 5KhNM with boron and copper is investigated. Diffusion layers obtained on samples with different compositions of the saturating mixture are described. It is shown that when carrying out experiments on saturation of samples in a medium of powders with boron and copper, diffusion layers with an acicular structure with a thickness of 220...330 μm are obtained, and the increase in the observed size was from 44 to 135 μm, depending on the composition of the powder mixture. The properties of diffusion layers have been studied, including the distribution of microhardness and chemical elements at different distances from the surface.

A method has been developed for cyclic low-temperature ion nitriding using a plasma source with an integrally cold hollow cathode, which is superior in performance to a source with an incandescent cathode. The results of the effectiveness of the developed method are presented. It has been established that the greatest influence on the microhardness of titanium alloys is exerted by the bias voltage and the l ocation of the surface with respect to the plasma flow. Microstructural studies have shown that the α-phase is stabilized in the near-surface layer due to nitrogen diffusion, grain growth is not observed. Alloy VT8M1 retains a two-phase structure. The possibility of controlling nitriding by changing the duration and direction of surface saturation is also shown.

This article presents an experimental statistical analysis of the output characteristics of the Russian prototype of a proportional gas valve with an anti-friction coating of molybdenum disulfide applied to the armature surface. Regression models have been built that describe the stages of valve opening and closing (increase and decrease in duty cycle, respectively). Conclusions about the effectiveness of the use of AFС in a proportional valve are formulated.
