Optical Waveguides by Germanium Ion Implantation on Silicon-On-Insulator Platform 锗离子注入绝缘体上硅平台的光波导

We demonstrated a new type of integrated photonic waveguides formed by Ge ion implantation in the silicon slab on silicon-on-insulator platform. They were successfully fabricated and characterised, and can be potentially erased by laser annealing.

We have demonstrated a passively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser using colloidal PbS quantum dots (QDs) thin film as saturable absorbers (SAs). As the pump power up to 34.1 mW, we can observe the mode-locked pulse with the duration of2.86 ns.

Ultrasound-Tagged Chemiluminescence Tomography in Turbid Media 混浊介质中的超声标记化学发光层析成像

Ultrasound assisted hybrid technique for optical imaging being available for biomedical tomography is proposed. Ultrasonic tagging on chemiluminescence (CL), which is derived by sonochemical effect of CL reaction, is applied for CL imaging in light scattering media. We have developed a tomographic imaging system equipped with an ultrasound phased-array transducer for electronic scanning of the ultrasound focus. The imaging performance using a body phantom including a luminol CL target was demonstrated, suggesting the potential for tomographic imaging of biological function with mm resolution in living bodies.

We present a study of compression of optical pulses using a free-space angular-chirp enhanced delay (FACED) cavity. The amount of induced dispersion can be adjusted by simply modifying the geometry of the FACED cavity.

Quantum-confined Stark effect with a record absorption contrast of 2.5 for 1V swing is demonstrated in Ge/GeSi quantum well stacks grown on Si using ultra-thin buffer layers, targeting future integration in a silicon photonics platform.

We demonstrate an underwater VLC system at 1.2m transmission distance with geometrically shaped 8-QAM modulation. The best performance can be achieved by utilizing circle 8QAM modulation and the highest data rate is 1.4 Gb/s.

We demonstrate a fiber-optic magnetometer using superparamagnetic nanoparticles based on a graphene NEMS. The resonant frequency of the graphene NEMS shifts with the magnetic field. The sensor shows a sensitivity as high as ~104.5 kHz/T.
