Parrot fish (Chlorurus sordidus) is one of the herbivorous fish in coral reef ecosystems that has a role in maintaining the health of coral reefs. This study aims to study the characteristics of acoustic backscattering of parrot fish and their relationship to fish length measurements. The benefits of this study are useful for estimating the size and abundance distribution of parrot fish in a waters. Acoustic backscattering measurements were carried out ex-situ using the tethered method, where the parrot fish was hung at a depth of 2 meters below the transducer and sounded with a Simrad EK-15 echosounder at a frequency of 200 kHz. Recording data were analyzed with Echoview 8 software to obtain target strength (TS) data. The results showed that the backscatter of parrot fish (C. sordidus) had an average TS value of -49.42 dB at standard lengths ranging from 14 to 22 cm. Differences in TS values in parrot fish are thought to be influenced by body length, swimbladder length and swimming activity. The ratio of the size of the swimbladder length and body length does not indicate an association with TS values. The relationship between TS and standard length of parrot fish (C. sordidus) was formulated in the equation TS = 10.43 Log SL - 62.65 (R2 = 0.752). This result is different from the Love (1977) provision where the acoustic backscatter of a fish is the square of the length of the fish set with a slope (b) of 20.

PELEPASAN DENSITAS Zooxanthellae KARANG Acropora sp. PADA BEBERAPA TINGKAT SALINITAS 盐碱性盐碱性降低了

Coral reef ecosystems are strongly influenced by marine environment factors, one of which is salinity. The effect of high salinity (hipersalin) and low salinity (hiposaline) on corals causes osmotic stress so that zooxanthellae will come out of polyps may cause bleaching and coral death in long-term exposure. The purpose of this study is determining the effect of several salinity concentrations on zooxanthellae density and their relationship to photosynthesis (NPP), respiration and primary productivity (GPP). This research used experimental method was conducted on November 13 – February 7, 2020 at Coastal Development Laboratory (LPWP). Corals used as research objects are Acropora sp. taken from the waters of Pulau Panjang, Jepara. Acropora sp. is given salinity concentration treatment (25 /oo, 30 /oo, 35 /oo). Observations were made at 0, 3, 6 and 9 day time intervals. The results showed that the difference in salinity concentration significantly affected the density of zooxanthellae. Salinity concentration 25 /oo treatment causing the highest zooxanthellae release pressure with a decrease of 21 animals per day. Zooxanthellae density affects the value of photosynthesis (NPP), respiration and gross primary productivity (GPP) of corals. The lower the zooxanthellae density, the lower the NPP, respiration and GPP of corals tends to be.

COMMUNITY STRUCTURE AND DIVERSITY OF PHYTOPLANKTON IN LEMUKUTAN ISLAND WATERS, WEST KALIMANTAN 西加里曼丹lemukutan岛水域浮游植物群落结构和多样性

Phytoplankton plays an important role in marine ecosystems as  primary producer, as the basis of food chains and the food web, and are widely used as bioindicators to monitor water condition. The study of phytoplankton is the primary interest to explore aquatic resources for blue biotechnology applications in conditions as a live feed, antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, possibly food and health industry. The study aims to assess the composition, abundance and diversity of phytoplankton community in Lemukutan Island waters of West Kalimantan. The present study found 31 genera of phytoplankton, consisted of Bacillariophyceae (28 genera) and Dinophyceae (3 genera). In term of contribution, Bacillariophyceae were found to be dominant (93.035%) than dinophyceae (6.965%). The abundance of phytoplankton varied between 636.91 to 2034.48 cell.L-1. The diversity index (H’), the evenness (E) index, and the dominance (C) index ranged from 1.959–2.579, 0.582–0.868, 0.094–0.283, respectively. The result showed that the diversity index was moderate, the evenness index was high, and the dominance index was low.

CHARACTERISTICS OF TUNA, SMALL TUNA AND SKIPJACK (TTS) FISHERY IN KUTARAJA OCEAN FISHING PORT, ACEH 亚齐库塔拉加海洋渔港金枪鱼、小金枪鱼和鲣鱼渔业的特点

Kutaraja Ocean Fishery Port is the oldest port in Banda Aceh City, Lampulo. Fishery resources are a new potential in the regional economic development of Aceh province. Fish resources that have great potential are from the large pelagic fish groups, including Tuna, Small Tuna and Skipjack (TTS) . Fishery characteristics are used to carry out sustainable fishing. This research was conducted at PPS Kuta Raja, Aceh for one year. Data collection was carried out directly through site surveys and interviews with related fisheries actors. Biological data and capturing aspects were carried out using a stratifield random sampling system by placing enumerators. The results showed that the production of TCT at PPS Kutaraja was dominated by 2 fishing gears, purse seine and hand lines. Based on the results of enumeration in 2020, the estimated total production of tuna skipjack and small tuna at PPS Kuta Raja reaches 11,520 tons. The highest total estimated fish catch is skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) (SKJ) 5,802 tons, Bullet tuna (Auxis rochei)(BLT) 2814 tons, Yellow fin  (Thunnus albacares) (YFT) 2,452 tons, Krai Tongkol (Auxis thazard) (FRI) 448 tons, and Eastern little tuna (Euthynnus affinis) (KAW) 1,745 tonnes. All of the fish caught were dominated by immature fish. So it is very necessary to evaluate the use of fishing gear or the licensing of FADs. The monthly CPUE distribution pattern is the same, where in August it reaches the highest CPUE and in October it reaches the lowest CPUE value.

PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING, TOTAL PHENOLIC CONTENT AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF TROPICAL BROWN MACROALGAE Padina pavonica HAUCK FROM KABUNG ISLAND, WEST KALIMANTAN 西加里曼丹卡邦岛热带褐藻的植物化学筛选、总酚含量和抗氧化活性

Marine macroalgae are potential sources as carbohydrate alternative, food additive, and bioactive compounds with antioxidant activity. The biological activity is strongly influenced by the type and phenolic compounds concentration. Tropical brown algae Padina pavonica Hauck was found with a large abundance in Kabung Island, West Kalimantan. The objective of this study was to determine the phytochemical screening, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activity of P. pavonica Hauck extract. The phytochemical screening and determination of total phenolic compounds were carried out using two different solvants with ethanol and ethyl acetate. Whereas antioxidant activity was evaluated using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) free radical scavenger method with UV-vis spectrophotometer. The qualitative analysis of phytocemical constituents revealed the presence of alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids, phenols, and saponins. Furthermore, for total phenolic compounds, the ethanolic extract had a higher content (20.34 mgGAE/g) dry sample than ethyl acetate extract (7 mgGAE/g). The ethanolic extract also had a higher of potential antioxidant activity which IC50 was 144.47 ppm compared to ethyl acetate extract (IC50 was 191.98 ppm).

RISIKO DAN MITIGASI TRANSPORTASI BENIH SIDAT (GLASS EEL), (STUDI KASUS DI PALABUHANRATU, JAWA BARAT) (Risks and Mitigation of Glass eel Transport (Case Study in Palabuhanratu, West Java))

Penangkapan benih sidat (glass eel) untuk kegiatan budidaya dilakukan oleh nelayan menggunakan seser dan kemudian dijual ke pengumpul. Pengumpul mengumpulkan glass eel dari beberapa nelayan dan mendistribusikannya ke tempat pembudidayaan. Banyak glass eel yang mati pada saat ditransportasikan oleh nelayan dan pengumpul. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan proses transportasi glass eel, moda transportasinya, dan parameter kualitas air pada saat ditransportasikan dari nelayan sampai ke kolam pembesaran serta mengidentifikasi risiko dan menentukan mitigasi transportasi glass eel. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi dan wawancara kepada nelayan dan pengumpul mengenai aktifitasnya dan parameter kualitas air yang digunakan. Analisis yang digunakan berupa analisis deskriptif, analisis komparatif, dan analisis risiko dan mitigasi menggunakan metode HIRAC. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa proses transportasi glass eel berawal dari nelayan ke pengumpul. Pengumpul mengumpulkan hasil tangkapan untuk selanjutnya ditransportasikan ke kolam pembesaran. Pentransportasian glass eel dimasukkan ke wadah kantong plastik dan atau cool  box dengan suhu 170C- 290C menggunakan sepeda motor, Salinitas 1ppt- 3ppt, dan kadar DO 6,3mg/L- 7mg/L. Proses transportasi glass eel memiliki risiko yang menyebabkan glass eel stress dan mati. Risiko tersebut dapat dimitigasi menggunakan pengendalian administratif (berupa peringatan kepada nelayan untuk bekerja dengan hati-hati, pemeriksaan secara berkala terhadap kondisi parameter air, kondisi cool box, kondisi kantong plastik (PE)), substitusi (penggantian cool box dan kantong plastik (PE) yang sudah dalam kondisi rusak, mengganti plastik yang lebih tebal, atau merangkap penggunaan plastik), dan rekayasa engineering (penggunaan aerasi dan chiller untuk menjaga kadar DO dan suhu air). Glass eel fishing for nursery and culture purposes is carried out by fishermen using seser and then sold to collectors. The collectors collected glass eels from several fishermen and distributed them to culturing site. Many glass eels die when transported by fishermen and collectors. This study objectives were describing glass eel transportation process, its transportation modes, and water quality parameters when transported from fishermen to raising pond and identify risks and determine glass eel transportation mitigation. The method used in this study were observation and interviews with fishermen and collectors, regarding their activities along with water quality parameters used. The analysis used are descriptive analysis, comparative analysis, and risk and mitigation analysis using the HIRAC method. The results of research show that process of transporting glass eels started from fishermen to collectors. Collectors collect catches to be transported to raising pond. Glass eel transport carried out using plastic bags and/or cool boxes with temperature of 170C- 290C use the motorcycle, Salinity 1ppt-3ppt, and DO levels 6,3 mg /
