Now a day’s weight plays a very important role in aircraft industries. The reason behind this is efficient & effective working of aircraft. It also needs the high strength to weight ratio. This requirement is fulfilled by the composites. In this research, GLARE is a hybrid composite consisting of thin aluminum, glass fiber & epoxy layer. GLARE materials have been using over 36 years for wide range of advance aerospace structural applications. GLARE laminates offer a distinctive amalgamation of properties such as outstanding fatigue resistance, high specific static properties, exceptional impact resistance, good flame resistance, corrosion resistance and ease of manufacture and repair. But the delaminating occurs in the sheets of aluminum and similarly aluminum wire mesh is used. Solicitation of GLARE materials for the skin or the outer parts here presented the need of GLARE materials in supportive structural members; the present work focuses on the fabrication various structural cross sections of glare material. For fabrication purpose, selected method is hand lay-up. Static & dynamic analysis of these glare material cross sections was carried out; it follows a comparative study with the aluminum cross sections gives that the glare has a better performance.

This paper investigates the effect of scientific knowledge on the performance of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. While sourcing knowledge from scientific community is a common strategy of open innovation, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies show particularly strong dependence on scientific knowledge than companies in other industries. In such strong science-linkage regime, the relation between science linkage and firm financial performance is more complex than what is generally assumed. From the perspective of absorptive capacity, we argue that knowledge accumulation and knowledge combination preference both affect a firm’s ability to gain higher commercial benefits from scientific knowledge. We use patent citation data to empirically test our hypotheses. The results indicate that science linkage alone has positive effect on firm performance. The positive effect will be increased when firms have knowledge combination preference on more self-citation and longer technology cycle time. How...

The shedding of silicon oil drops from a glass surface due to water cross flow is presented. The surface was placed inside a rectangular channel filled with water, and on top of the surface a drop of given size was placed. Various sizes of the drops were used for the experiment. The flow of water was gradually increased so that the drop sheds when the drag and the adhesion balance each other. The cross-flow velocity of water at that point was called the critical velocity. The critical velocity was found to decrease with increase in drop size. The contact lengths and heights were found to increase with the drop size. The increase in the contact length increases the adhesion, but the increase in height raises the drag applied. Hence the critical velocity decreases.

The use of electronic devices is increasing day by day in form of static as well as dynamic devices and simultaneously the energy consumption of these devices is increasing because of requirement of information processed is increasing. There is a social need to reduce the power consumption of these devices. Over four decades the efforts of minimizing the transistor size for new and minimized products has introduced new challenges in designing the transistors. As per the technology roadmap for semiconductors, the reduction in power consumption of the MOSFETs used in today's electronic circuits is reaching the fundamental limit and these days new type of device structures are being investigated as possible replacements for traditional metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs).

Open source hardware (OSH) development has been gaining momentum in recent years with several communities attempting to formalise its various aspects. One particularly promising area is the design of open source scientific hardware. Previous work has shown that the use of digital fabrication techniques has allowed scientists to make high-quality scientific tools for 1-10% of the cost of commercial proprietary equipment. Open source scientific hardware (and the open science movement in which it is situated) is part of a larger social shift characterised by open production methodologies, and decentralised and distributed models of collaboration. Design is also increasingly involved in supporting open production, both in terms of designing and developing technical infrastructures, and in terms of encouraging and sustaining processes that promote collaboration and openness. This paper builds on the work of open source scientific hardware and emerging concepts in participatory design with a focus on commons-based peer production. How do open production environments foster engagement and innovation? Can distributed modes of production support the design of open source scientific hardware? To answer these questions, a design research case study was undertaken to investigate the design and social impact of a collaboratively designed open source hardware instrument developed by Sensorica, an open value network, in collaboration with an academic laboratory. The project’s goal was to engage with makers and communities around the world in order to encourage its wider adoption, future evolution and continued development.

"Big Data is the oil of the new economy" is the most famous citation during the three last years. It has even been adopted by the World Economic Forum in 2011. Upstream is no stranger to Big Data. Understanding and leveraging data in the upstream segment enables firms to remain competitive throughout planning, exploration, delineation, and field development. Oil & Gas Companies conduct advanced geophysics modeling and simulation to support operations where Seismic generate significant data during exploration phases. They closely monitor the performance of their operational assets. To do this, they use thousands sensors in subsurface wells and surface facilities to provide continuous and real-time monitoring of assets and environmental conditions. Unfortunately, this information comes in various and complex forms, making it a challenge to collect, interpret, and leverage. Big Data technologies integrate common and disparate data sets to deliver the right information at the right time to the correct decision-maker. These capabilities help firms act on large volumes of data, optimizing all phases of exploration, development and production. Big Data ensure safer, more responsible operations. The aim of this paper is to explain how to use Big Data technologies to optimize operations. How can Big Data help experts to decision-making leading the desired outcomes?

Business Angels (BAs) play a crucial role in the creation and growth of entrepreneurial ventures. Little is known, however, about their funding criteria. This paper contributes to our understanding of BAs’ funding decisions, by analyzing how their past investments influence the choices of their future investments. We hypothesize that experiential learning processes lead BAs to search for start-ups that are similar to their most recent investments. Using longitudinal data from BAs active in the Internet industry, we find that BAs make trade-offs between geographical proximity and industry similarity when choosing future investments. They tend to invest in ventures that are geographically proximate to their prior investments, but not in the same industry. As geographical distance increases, BAs’ next investment is more likely to be in the same industry sector as the prior investment.
