Phenotypic Characterization and Weight Estimation of Young Thalli Sheep Through Multivariate Traits 利用多变量性状分析幼体羊的表型特征及体重估算

The aim of this study was to evaluate the multivariate traits in Thalli sheep for phenotypic characterization and their association with the live bodyweight of the animals for the selection of superior individuals by using the principal component analysis (PCA) technique and regression equation. Twenty-one (21) multivariate traits were taken of young Thalli sheep aged 0-12 months in Thall area of Punjab, Pakistan. Morphometric traits measured were withers height (WH), head width (HW), head length (HL), body length (BL), ear width (EW), ear length (EL), neck width (NW), neck length (NL), heart girth (HG), rump length (RL), tail length (TL), rump width (RW), barrel depth (BD), birth weight (BiW), live body weight (BW), sacral pelvic width (SPW), teat diameter (TED), teat length (TEL), testes length (TsL), scrotal circumference (SC) and testes width (TsW). Positive and highly significant (P≤0.01) correlations among different morphometric traits were present in overall animals of 0-12-month age groups of Thalli sheep such as WH, BL, HL, HW, EL, EW, NL, NW, HG, RL, BD, SPW, BiW and BW. The results of principal component analysis of data for all age groups of young Thalli sheep were showed that three principal components (PCs) were extracted as PC1, PC2, and PC3. For the 0-3-month age group, PC1 showed high variance before and after rotation (44.33% and 37.68%), for 4-6-month age group, PC1 had a high value of variance as 58.45% and PC2 had 15.17%, for 7-9-month age group, three principal components were extracted with high eigenvalues (7.56) for PC1 and high variance 50.45% and for 10-12-month age group, PC1 had a high value of variance as 50.05% and PC2 and PC3 had values as 10.67% and 9.05% respectively and their cumulative variance was 69.79%. Regression equations for all age groups of young Thalli sheep presented a very close relationship between predicted bodyweight and actual live bodyweight. The present study showed that hearth girth, body length, and withers height are very important parameters for the estimation of body weight and phenotypical characterization.

Pioglitazone Ameliorates Hypertension Induced Cardiac Hypertrophy and Down Regulates Cardiac Hypoxia Inducible Factor-l α in Rats 吡格列酮改善高血压大鼠心肌肥厚及下调心脏缺氧诱导因子- 1 α

It is known that cardiac hypertrophy induced by hypertension always goes with abnormal myocardial glucolipid metabolism. However, whether or not pioglitazone may alleviate the cardiac hypertrophy and reverse abnormal myocardial glucolipid metabolism is still unknown. We conducted this experiment to explore the influence of pioglitazone on cardiac hypertrophy in rats. Rats with cardiac hypertrophy induced by renovascular hypertension were given a gavage of pioglitazone 5–10 mg/kg for 4 weeks. Our crew determined systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP). Heart mass index (HMI), left ventricular mass index (LVMI), myocardial cell diameter (MCD) and surface area (SA) were further estimated. We members determined FFA and Ang II levels. HE and Masson staining were estimated histopathological changes. The protein and mRNA expression of PPAR-α, CPT-1 as well as PDK-4 were measured by western blot and qRT-PCR. The results showed that pioglitazone could reduced SBP, DBP, MCD, SA, HMI, LVMI as well as myocardial fibrosis and FFA and Ang II levels in serum. Moreover, pioglitazone inhibited the expression of HIF-1α protein and simultaneously enhanced the expressions of PPAR-α, CPT-1 as well as PDK-4 mRNA and proteins. So we infer that pioglitazone could improve hypertension-induced cardiac hypertrophy and redress abnormal myocardial glucolipid metabolism in rats by down-regulating the protein expression of myocardial HIF-1α and increasing the protein expressions of myocardial PPARα, CPT-1 and PDK-4.

Identification of Predictive Factors in Chronic Hepatitis C Patients with Non-Infected Individuals: A Comparative Analysis 慢性丙型肝炎患者与非感染者预测因素的鉴定:一项比较分析

Hepatitis C virus is playing a key role in chronic liver disease all around the globe. Currently, in Pakistan, it is a huge burden on health and the economy, affecting about 6 to 8% of the overall population. HCV is dependent on the lipid metabolism of the patient to replicate and then disturb the blood cell count and liver enzymes to ultimately damage the liver. To distinguish the potential HCV patients from healthy individuals at an early stage is quite important for its control, which can be achieved by investigation of liver enzymes, complete blood count, and lipid profile of patients. In this study, 144 CHC and 20 controls were included. The serum of CHC patients was analyzed for HCV viral load and genotype. The liver function test, lipid profile, sugar levels, and complete blood count values were assessed in the laboratory. Receiver operating characteristics were used to find the biomarkers of infection. Logistic regression analysis revealed that liver enzymes (ALT, AST, ALP, γGT, albumin), blood cell count (globulin, platelets, MCHC RBC, WBC, monocytes% and lymphocytes%), lipid profile (HDL, LDL, VLDL, TC) were significant predictive factors in HCV infection. Similarly, ROC analysis suggested that ALT, AST, ALP, MCHC, TC, and VLDL variables have the potential to discriminate HCV infection from healthy individuals. Biochemical markers like liver enzymes, blood cell count, lipid profile are the main predictive factors of Chronic Hepatitis C patients as compare to the healthy group.
