Porous silica/sodium polyacrylate nanocomposites were obtained in a one-stage sol-gel process. The process involved acid hydrolysis of tetramethoxysilane (TMOS) in the presence of sodium salt of poly(acrylic acid) (SPA) in the molar ratio of TMOS/SPA from 2:1 to 8:1. The physical and thermal properties of the obtained nanocomposites were characterized by FTIR, SEM, TGA and adsorption analysis (BET, BJH). The mechanical and chemical treatment of the composite after the synthesis increased its surface area without significantly changing its thermal properties. The process enables pore size control.

Prediction of air permeability and effective thermal conductivity of multifilament polyester yarn by finite element analysis 聚酯复丝纱透气性和有效导热系数的有限元预测

The effective thermal conductivity and air permeability of a multifilament polyester yarn used in sports T-shirts was investigated by computer modeling using finite element analysis. It has been shown that the number of fibers, the porosity of the yarn and the proportion of fibers in the volume fraction of the yarn have a direct effect on the effective thermal conductivity and air permeability of the multifilament yarn. It was found that with the increase in the number of fibers, the porosity of the yarn decreases linearly, while the volume fraction of the fibers increases, and thus the effective thermal conductivity increases. In addition, air permeability decreases exponentially.

Synthesis and characterization of a citric and lipoic acids-derived dendrimer 柠檬酸和硫辛酸衍生物的合成和表征

The paper describes the synthesis and characterization of two third generation dendrimers from citric acid and a variant with a dendron terminated with lipoic acid. FTIR and C NMR confirmed the presence of signals characteristic for the dendrimer functional groups OH, C-O, C=O, C-H and C-S. DSC showed that, unlike citric acid, the dendrimer is amorphous. SEM revealed changes in the structure of citric acid particles in each dendrimer generation. In addition, the structure was more homogeneous. Dendrimers are hydrophobic due to ester linkages. Contact angle > 90° confirms their hydrophobic character. Moreover, the dendrimer with a dendron terminated with lipoic acid absorbs Cu+2 and Fe+3metal ions, so it can be used as an adsorbent for heavy metals.

Influence of UV on the self-adhesive properties of silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives 紫外线对硅酮压敏胶自粘性能的影响

The paper presents the results of research on the UV radiation influence on the self-adhesive properties of silicone adhesives. The adhesives were obtained by cross-linking commercial resins (PSA 590, Q2-7566) at the temperature of 110°C, using different amounts (0–3 wt%) of bis(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl) peroxide. Self-adhesive properties of adhesives such as adhesion, tack, and durability before and after aging were determined. The adhesives showed stable self-adhesive properties, however, the PSA 590 adhesive had a higher maximum operating temperature than the Q2-7566 adhesive.

The effect of nonwoven Abutilon Indicum fiber content (20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 wt%) on the structure (FTIR, SEM) and selected mechanical and thermal (TGA) properties of epoxy resin was investigated. The best mechanical properties were obtained with a fiber content of 35 wt%. The tensile strength of the composite was about 40 MPa, the flexural strength over 60 MPa, and the compressive strength about 48 MPa. Moreover, the composite showed the fracture energy about 0.44 J.

The study examined the effect of the cornhusk fibers (CHF) content on the structure, physical, mechanical and water barrier properties of composites obtained on the basis of corn starch (CS) and kenaf fiber (KF), used in the amount of 6 wt%. Sorbitol in the amount of 30 wt% was used as a plasticizer. Hybrid biocomposite films were obtained using the solution casting technique. The addition of CHF reduced the water absorption and solubility of the film in water. Increasing the CHF content in the composite resulted in greater film thickness, weight and density. Thanks to good biocompatibility (FESEM) the composites showed higher tensile strength and Young’s modulus. However, elongation at break was lower. FTIR results confirmed the intermolecular hydrogen bonding between the matrix and the fibers. The best properties were obtained at 6 wt% CHF content.

Thermal insulation materials extend the shelf life of food and reduce energy consumption. Polyurethane (PU) insulation materials are often used to keep food hot and cold. Improving the thermal insulation properties of PU can significantly contribute to energy savings and lower food-related costs in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Polyurethane/expanded graphite (PU/EG) composites were obtained by hot-pressing by adding expanded graphite (EG) to PU foams. Composites with 0.05%, 5%, and 10% EG were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

The paper describes the chemical modification of PVC consisting in the introduction of amino groups (1,4-dioxane, diethylenetriamine), and then cross-linking with dichlorodiethyl ether. The optimal extraction time was obtained for the polymer that had more chlorine atoms substituted with diethylenetriamine groups and ether.
