Theory and experiment of a short-pulse-laser pumped distributed feedback optical parametric oscillator 短脉冲激光抽运分布反馈光参量振荡器的理论与实验

We have developed the theory of a distributed-feedback optical-parametric oscillator pumped by a laser pulse length shorter than the round-trip length of the nonlinear gain material. We also demonstrated distributed-feedback optical-parametric oscillation in a 5-cm PPLN crystal pumped by a 430-ps passively Q-switched Nd:YAG laser.

We measured polarization-dependent photoluminescence-excitation spectra, of high-quality T-shaped quantum wires at 5 K, and revealed absorption line shape of one-dimensional (1D) continuum and exciton states resulted from strong ID Coulomb interactions.

Possibility of the propagation of nonlinear solitary waves in an electro-magnetically induced transparency atomic medium is shown. A coupling light is found to induce a nonlinear waveguide in the medium, and the solitary waves can be freely controlled in the waveguide.

We determine the conditions under which desirable nonlinear processes such as nonlinear ellipse rotation can be exploited in bulk media at powers that are many times above critical power of self-focusing. Application of this scheme to pulse-contrast enhancement of ultra-high-power laser pulses is explored.

The energy level shift of a coherent biexciton (bound two-exciton state) in a semiconductor has been observed experimentally and analyzed theoretically. The shift, which results from the presence of excitons, can be related to the AC Stark shifts of the underlying exciton states.

We used two perpendicular crystals of periodically-poled potassium titanyl phosphate (KTP) to efficiently generate frequency-nondegenerate, polarization-entangled photons in a single spatial mode. The source is compact, inexpensive, and suitable for long-distance fiber-based quantum communication.
