Pendry's superlens has been verified in microwave optics analog with meta-materials. Simulation with finite-element solver of Maxwell equations is further used to explore the feature. Aberration-like issues are also discussed.

We present a study of a microcavity polariton system in the presence of an optically induced electron gas. Angle resolved photoluminescence measurements with nonresonant excitation show enhanced emission from the k /spl ap/ 0 states as the electron density is increased. This indicates that electron-polariton scattering can assist in relaxing the polariton bottleneck.

We report on the time resolved polarized emission from individual conjugated polymer chains as a function of temperature. Besides observing intrachain energy transfer in real time, we can also infer dephasing times from homogeneous linewidths.

Studies of Auger recombination in size/shape-controlled CdSe nanoparticles reveal that elongated nanocrystals provide almost independent control of the emission wavelength (diameter) and the Auger recombination rate (length). The results suggest that shape control may be the key to developing practical lasing applications.

Diffraction management and elliptic discrete solitons in two-dimensional waveguide array lattices 二维波导阵列晶格中的衍射管理和椭圆离散孤子

We demonstrate that the discrete diffraction properties of a 2-D waveguide array can be effectively altered depending on the propagation k-vector within the Brillouin zone of the lattice. In general, this diffraction behavior is anisotropic, and therefore, allows the existence of discrete elliptic solitons.

Single quantum dot photodiodes: Rabi-flops in a two level system with electric contacts 单量子点光电二极管:具有电触点的两电平系统中的拉比-flop

On the basis of a single semiconductor quantum dot incorporated in a photodiode we have succeeded in preparing a two-level system with electric contacts, a setup which was previously not attained on the basis of other two-level systems. By means of such a single quantum dot photodiode we demonstrate the transfer of coherent optical excitations into deterministic photocurrents. Rabi oscillations are shown to be directly reflected in the photocurrent. For optical excitation with pi-pulses we observe a quantitative photocurrent given by I=f /spl times/ e, where f is the repetition frequency of the experiment and e is the elementary charge.

We have successfully implemented telecom-wavelength quantum cryptosystem over 87.5 km (world's longest) including error correction and privacy amplification. We confirmed that key distribution was performed at a rate of 7.2 bps with a 7.6% QBER.

Single molecule spectroscopy of multichromophoric assemblies 多色组合物的单分子光谱

We have investigated multichromophoric assemblies composed of a variable number of chromophores by single molecule spectroscopy. Specific spectral signatures have allowed to distinguish at the single molecule level between molecular dimers representing strong and weak electronic dipole-dipole coupling. By using fluorescence excitation spectroscopy at low temperature, the sharp purely electronic zero-phonon lines of single chromophores within a single dendrimer containing four chromophores could be isolated in the frequency domain.
