Under the premise of chance-constrained programming, when the consideration to reliability and economy of system operation should be given, how to consider the uncertainty factors such as the fault outage of generators and the error of load forecasting is researched so as to determine the optimal spinning reserve capacity that power system requires.Taking the purchase cost of minimized spinning reserve as objective as well as the secure requirement of power system as chance-constraint,a mathematical model to determine optimal spinning reserve capacity required by power system is constructed, and Monte Carlo simulation based genetic algorithm is adopted to solve the constructed model.Taking a power system containing 18 generating units for example the proposed model is illustrated.

In view of stepwise bidding protocol that is commonly adopted in practical operated electricity market home and abroad, the impacts of different numbers of bidding blocks on the bidding strategies of generation companies are investigated. As a preliminary research, here, the generation companies, which act as price-taker,are taken as subject investigated.Firstly, the electricity price in the market is simulated by probabilistic methods,on this basis and by use of average probability of wins a multi-block bidding model that simulate optimal bidding strategy of generation company is built. Then, the impacts of both generation company's risk preference extent and market information asymmetry on the construction of generation company's optimal bidding strategy are researched. Finally,a numerical example is used to demonstrate the proposed model and method, with special emphasis on the impacts of different numbers of bidding blocks on the optimal bidding strategy of generation companies.

In this paper, the principle of the current correlation differential protection based on the correlation integration is analyzed first. The advantages of the correlation differential criterion are proved and the disadvantages are also pointed out. Aiming to the disadvantages of the correlation criterion, an improved scheme was proposed in the paper. The power system models of different structures using ATP program are built to simulate these criterion completely. Simulation studies show that the improved scheme not only preserves the advantages of correlation criterion, but also increases many new virtues such as better sensitivity and reliability, simple to understand, easy to give out setting values. Studies also show that the improved scheme is more reliable and very suitable for the protection of EHV/UHV transmission lines.

In this paper a new method is described in which an annular metal sheet coated with silicone rubber is added at the base of the conventional insul ator cap to improve the insulator unit's performance under both clean and pollut ed conditions. The annular metal sheet is connected to the insulator iron cap an d makes the electric field distribution more uniform, which increases the corona onset voltage. The annular metal sheet also makes the electric field direction on the insulator upper surface approximately perpendicular to the insulator surf ace, rather than parallel, as on the conventional insulator, therefore the devel opment of the discharge is restrained. At same time, the annular coated with sil icon rubber which possesses good pollution-proof performance can increase the c r eepage distance, reduce leakage current and raise the flashover voltage. The exp erimental results obtained coincide with the results of theoretical analyses. Th e fine performance of novel insulator is approved. After fully immersing the nov el insulator into the sodium chloride solution at density of 10g/l, its flashov er voltage is multiplied, the corona onset voltage increased more than 70% and t he leakage current decreased nearly 30% under the same polluted conditions.
