A virtual multi-element uniform linear array is constructed through covariation matrix of the minimum redundant array in the presence of impulsive noise. Based on virtual multi-element uniform linear array and reconstructed covariation matrix, a novel orthogonal propagator method (OPM) is proposed. The proposed algorithm utilized few virtual elements and expanded the number of effective aperture array, while significantly improving the performance of the original OPM algorithms. In order to fit the proposed direction finding algorithm based on the minimum redundant array and covariation matrix, an adaptive cultural algorithm is designed for objective function of direction finding. Monte-Carlo simulations have proved that the proposed method has some good performance such as high resolution in the presence of impulse noise and the capability of using a small number of elements to find more signal sources.

Heart beat causes the synchronous body vibration, which can be measured on the spine axis by sensitive force sensor called ballistocardiogram. Ballistocardiogram was a kind of nonstationary physiological signal, which couldn't be analyzed and processed by traditional signal processing method. The generation and acquisition method of ballistocardiogram were explained. As examples of bilinear and linear time-frequency distribution, the Cohen class distribution and wavelet transform were discussed and used in ballistocardigram pseudo-period segment. In addition, the frequency range of ballistocardiogram and the levels of wavelet decomposition were determined by Cohen class distribution, but the performance of exponential distribution is better than that of Wigner-Ville distribution and has a fine correspondence to time domain wave of actual ballistocardigram. The experiment results show that, bilinear and linear time-frequency distribution are both able to divide ballistocardiogram into pseudo-periods corresponding to cardiac cycle, but the segment performance of wavelet decomposition is better than that of Cohen class distribution, and the latter one is terser to realize.

In the face detection, using skin color information can reduce the search range for a face candidate. However, in a complex scene, the face detection based on using skin color failed when it deals with skin color area including similar color background, overlapping faces and factual face divided into multi areas. The aim of this work is focus on robust extraction of face candidate for face detection system. Firstly, the areas of skin in the input image are detected by the skin color classifier, holes filter, and morphological operations. Secondly, it uses image segmentation technique to divide a skin area into the homogeneous regions. Finally, it extracts a valid face candidate from the segments in the area by using conditional merging with the aspect ratio of frontal face. The proposed face candidate extraction method is applied to a face detection system and tested on various color images. The experimental result shows that the face detection rate of our proposed method is higher than other face candidate extraction methods in the same face detection system.

Web services have changed the Web from a database of static documents to a service provider. To improve the automation of Web services interoperation, a lot of technologies are recommended, such as semantic Web services and proxys. In this paper we propose a model for semantic Web service discovery based on semantic Web services and FIPA multi proxys. This paper provides a broker which provides semantic interoperability between semantic Web service provider and proxys by translating WSDL to DF description for semantic Web services and DF description to WSDL for FIPA multi proxys. We describe how the proposed architecture analyzes the request and match search query. The ontology management in the broker creates the user ontology and merges it with general ontology (i.e. WordNet, Yago, Wikipedia …). We also describe the recommendation component that recommends the WSDL to Web service provider to increase their retrieval probability in the related queries.

Traditional moving objects database has faced the rapid evolution of modern CMP processor. To evaluate massive concurrent continuous queries towards moving objects, parallel processing techniques and cache-conscious algorithms adapting to memory hierarchy and multi-core architecture should be developed to maximize the processor computation abilities. This paper introduces a multi-staged engine (MSE) for high performance and adaptable execution of massive concurrent continuous queries processing, which exploits pipeline strategy and departs the continuous query processing into three simultaneous stages: preprocessing, executing and dispatching modules to improve the parallelism with multi-threaded technology. Based on MSE framework and grid index for moving objects, we present a multi-threaded algorithm (MT-CNN) for massive continuous k nearest neighbor queries processing. MT-CNN algorithm uses threaded workload parallelism and cache-conscious execution reorganization strategies to improve the spatial and temporal locality. Experimental evaluation on a dual-core platform and analysis show that MT-CNN algorithm achieves a performance improvement over the existing traditional optimization counterparts.

Hamming distance, fuzzy nearness degree and grey relation analysis (GRA) are used to solve fuzzy multiply attribute decision making. This paper proposes a new method named improved similar approach degree method for combining those three kinds of methods to decision making. Finally, the hybrid decision method is illustrated by a numerical example, which shows this method is effective and easy to calculate.

In this paper, a method is presented for the dynamic modeling of parallel robots with flexible links and rigid platform. For a 3-RRR planar parallel manipulator, it is divided as three flexible sub-structures and a rigid moving platform. Because flexible sub-structures are connected by the rigid platform, the geometrical constraint relationship between them represent the influences each other. It is essential to obtain a simple displacement and dynamic relation between them. The flexible sub-structures are modeled by using floating-frame reference method, in which the coupling terms between the rigid-body motion and the flexible deformations and the geometric stiffness term are taken into account. According to the constraint relations, dynamic equations of the rigid platform are obtained. Finally the system dynamic equations can be obtained by assembling all dynamic equations. The displacement and orientation errors of the moving platform are analyzed in different case through numerical simulation. The results show the speed and structural size of the system have significant effects on the errors of the moving platform and the errors are different in different configuration of the manipulator.

Machining method influences the processing cost directly. Fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is used to select the optimum machining technological design scheme from the multitudinous alternatives based on the analysis of three main influence factors, such as machining quality, machining cost and machining efficiency, which influence the process of technological design directly. One desirable membership function and one fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model of multi-process designing schemes are designed, and one approach of multi-process schemes decision making process is presented. Finally, one fuzzy comprehensive evaluation machining method decision making system is developed with MATLAB, and the result of the case study indicates the evaluation results accord with the actual production condition. The optimization design of selecting machining method is achieved.

In this paper, an MCU (Micro Controller Unit) oriented automatic guidance system is proposed. Capture strategies including capture analysis and camera setting position determination are discussed. Relationship between setting position and sight view is illustrated for Freescale smart car. Instead of conventional software binarization, a hardware based binary method is proposed to deal with all scan line data for each sample picture in real-time. Keystone distortion correcting algorithm for MCU application improves the performance of track type recognition. Together with rollover preventing calculation, the proposed design is successfully applied to a 1:10 scale model car.
