Human personality is The complexity of human personality is confirmed in its psychological, pedagogical and lexicographical definitions. This complexity is clearly seen Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska’s personality. The aim of this publication is to describe the personality traits of Maria Pawlikowska‑Jasnorzewska, a playwright, painter, a descendant of the Kossak family and one of Poland’s greatest poets. The metaphorical terms used to refer to Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska include: colorful butterfly, bracken, hummingbird, lioness, salamander, rose, exotic flower, fortune-teller, or a fairy, to name but a few, and are all characterized by symbolic meaning. This was discussed in Mariola Pryzwan’s biographical work complementary to the existing portraits of Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska – the woman and the artist, whose subtlety and softness were paradoxically coupled with her strong sense of realism were reflected in her unrivalled literary works.

This article is devoted to the topical issue of Russian‑Belarusian bilingualism in the post‑Soviet environment. Belarus is of particular interest not only because of the high level of russification at the time of the collapse of the USSR but also because of its close relations with Russia afterwards. Belarus is the only country in the post‑Soviet space that has legally secured the equal status of the Belarusian and Russian languages as official languages, which results in legally fixed bilingualism. However, the actual position of the two languages is not equal at all and the functional scope of the Belarusian language is still limited. The purpose of this work was to determine the current state of the language situation and to determine the prospects for bilingualism based on the language‑governing rules and the analysis of the education sector since it reacts most sensitively to to any changes in legislation pertaining to language policy and most effectively influences the formation of multilingual society. In addition, research hypotheseswere presented through the prism of political discourse, namely the rhetoric about bilingualism present in the official speeches of the President of the Republic of Belarus, A. Lukashenko).

Various scholars point out the transfer of proper nouns as a difficulty. This paper examines the transfer of names in twenty‑one translations of the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale originally titled Rumpelstilzchen. The article analyses English,Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Turkish, and Japanese editions of this originally German story. The analysis focuses on the true name of a title dwarf and other names provided by the Queen. The article includes five analyses describing the onomastic aspects of the translation and the applied translation strategies. The analysis suggests that the translators’ approach toward the matter of transfer of names varied throughout the years and editions. The dominant strategies were replacement and transcription, and vary the most in case of common names (Cunz and Heinz).

This study analyses the names of the colours used by the author of the reportages. The research method is based on finding answers to the following questions: What colours does the author write about? Which of them prevail? What do they refer to? What stylistic functions do the names of the colours fulfill? What names appear in various colour fields? What parts of speech are the colours represented by? The lexicon of colour words in the reportages under consideration is quite rich. Colours are related to people, animals, plants, landscapes and artefacts, and their function is to describe the appearance of the characters and their beauty, depict their clothing and their mental state, portray the reality of the Borderlands, mainly the landscape. Most often, they are used as epithets. The names in the colour field are not ifferentiated. Colours are most often represented by adjectives, less frequently by nouns, verbs, active and passive participles and adverbs. Occasionally, adjectival compounds are used.

The aim of our work is to describe some structures with hurler, gémir, crier in two literary genres: the detective novel and the sentimental novel. Focusing on structures with hurler, gémir, crier, we will try to show that there are privileged structures in a genre that convey additional information in specific contexts. Finally, we establish the conceptual scheme which consists of obligatory elements such as sound verb, sound element, appropriate interjection and other elements such as human names, body parts, appropriate predicate.
