Existence of Yersinia species in marketable milk and some dairy products 市售牛奶及部分乳制品中存在耶尔森菌

Yersinia species are members of the Enterobacteriaceae . These bacteria have Gram-negative or Gram-variable, rod-shaped cells. Yersinia regards as one of the most important food-borne agents along with ability to grow at room and refrigerator temperatures. There are several intestinal and extraintestinal clinical symptoms caused by these organisms, appearing through mild gastroenteritis, mesenteric lymphadenitis, and pseudo appendicitis. Yersiniosis is a zoonotic disease with a wide distribution and a known public health significance caused by Y. enterocolitica. One hundred and sixty marketable milk samples and some milk products including kareish cheese, Domiati cheese and small-scale ice cream were collected randomly from supermarkets, dairy farms, dairy shops, and street vendors, in Assiut city, Egypt. Selective CIN (Cefsulodin-Irgasan-Novobiocin) agar plates were used after enriched by phosphate buffered saline (PBS) supplemented with novobiocin and cefsulodin and incubated at 30 °C for 24 to 48 hours. The suspected colonies were identified by biochemical tests. A total of 33 isolates (20.63%) were identified as Yersinia species , representing Y. enterocolitica (47.5%), Y. pseudotuberculosis (7.5%), Y. pestis (17.5%) and Y. intermedia (10%).

Evaluation of Superficial Well Water on the performance and Immune-response of Broiler Chickens Against Avian Influenza and Newcastle Diseases Vaccination in New Valley Governorate. 新谷省浅表井水对肉鸡生产性能及对禽流感和新城疫病免疫应答的影响

A total of 200 unsexed 1-day old broiler chickens (Masr poultry) were used in this study in El-Dakhla City in the New Valley Governorate. They were randomly allocated into two groups of 100 birds in each. Groups were classified according to water source, (G1) received superficial well water (S) and (G2) received filtered water (F), that have been physically and chemically analyzed. The two groups received balanced formulated diet free from any additives and vaccinated with AI (H9) and ND vaccines. Weekly, five chicks were randomly collected and weighted (FI, BWG and FCR were estimated), At (1, 7, 15, 25, 35 days) 5 serum samples were examined for the antibody titers of AI (H9) and ND vaccines using HI test. The results of physicochemical water analyses recorded higher numerical values in superficial well group than filtered group which exceeded the permissible limits. There are significant differences among groups at (p>0.05) for most of the performance and immune parameters. (G2) showed a significant higher response for body weight (BWT), BWT gain (BWG), feed conversion ratio and antibody response to ND and AI (H9) virus vaccine. Our study showed that concentration of heavy metals residues in different tissues of broilers received Superficial well as (Fe, Mn, Pb and CD) recorded higher result as compared with filter group. In conclusion, In El-Dakhla City the superficial well water affect negatively on performance and immune parameters of broiler chickens

Monitoring of Bacillus cereus in rice pudding 米布丁中蜡样芽孢杆菌的监测

Bacillus cereus is considered to be the most common pathogenic bacillus species found in raw milk and at all stages of dairy processing. Cinnamon essential oil is considered a suitable source of antimicrobial and antifungal compounds; therefore, the objective of this study was to reveal microbiologically the presence of Bacillus cereus in dairy products by using HiCrome™ Bacillus Agar and evaluating the significance of added cinnamon on the growth of Bacillus cereus in prepared rice pudding. The mean values of B. cereus count in the examined 50 rice pudding was 2.1×10 5 ± 7.4×10 4 (cfu /g). The addition of cinnamon powder to rice pudding significantly affects the viability of B. cereus in investigated samples ( p ≥ 0.05 ), as the reduction % in the count of B. cereus at 0.5 and 1 % cinnamon concentrations after 12, 24, 36 and 48 hr. were 23.91, 82.22, 94.71, 24.14 %, and 60.87, 99.07, 99.99, 99.89 %, respectively.

A Comparative Study Between Some Diagnostic Techniques in Diagnosis of Bovine Tuberculosis 牛结核病几种诊断技术的比较研究

Early detection of bovine tuberculosis in infected cattle is important to eliminate the infected animals from a herd, and to reduce the risk post by animals and animal products to human. Methods for the detection of mycobacteria are continuously being developed. A total of 1050 cows were tested by tuberculin test and the lymph nodes and internal organs of tuberculin positive cows were examined by culture method and confirmed by RTPCR. The whole blood samples that collected as soon as the reading of the tuberculin test from both the tuberculin positive and tuberculin negative cows were used for detection of gamma interferon release (bovigam, prionics). The obtained results revealed that 57 cows were positive tuberculin test (5.4%), 37 out of them were harbored the acid-fast bacilli of mycobacteria (65 %), which confirmed using RT -PCR, while there are 49 out of 57 tuberculin positive cows were tuberculous by gamma interferon assay (86 %). There are 3 cases out of 57 tuberculin negative cows were tuberculous by gamma interferon assay. The use of gamma interferon assay has the superiority for diagnosis of bovine tuberculosis over the conventional culture method and tuberculin test due to the obstacles of the decontamination process as well as the field problems of tuberculin test.

Microbiological Quality Assessment of Dairy Desserts Sold in New Valley Governorate 在新谷省销售的乳甜点的微生物质量评价

A hundred fifty randomly collected samples of ice cream, rice pudding and mahlabia (50 samples each) from different localities in El-Dakhla city, New Valley Governorate, Egypt, were microbiologically examined. The average counts of the aerobic plate, psychrotrophic bacteria, total coliforms , fecal coliforms , Staphylococcus aureus counts and yeast and mold in the examined ice-cream samples were 6.47 × 10 6 , 9.17 × 10 5 , 5.23 × 10 6 , 2.73 × 10 6 , 1.05 × 10 7 , 1.97 × 10 6 and 1.04 × 10 6 CFU/ml, respectively. While, in rice pudding samples the average counts of the aerobic plate, total coliforms , fecal coliforms , Staphylococcus aureus counts and yeast and mold were 1.17 × 10 7 , 6.99 × 10 6 , 5.35 × 10 6 , 1.37 × 10 7 , 9.81 × 10 6 and 5.32 × 10 6 CFU/ml, respectively, while in mahlabia samples, the counts were 6.44 × 10 6 , 3.04 × 10 6 , 2.06 × 10 6 , 8.19 × 10 6 , 7.09 × 10 5 and 7.40 × 10 6 CFU/ml, respectively. Escherichia coli was detected in 20, 16, and 10% in ice cream, rice pudding and mahlabia samples, respectively. All the examined samples in this study were negative for anaerobes. In conclusion, strict hygienic measures should be followed during the production and handling of milk products with health education programs for producers and handlers.

The average counts of the aerobic plate, psychrotrophic bacteria, total coliforms , fecal coliforms , Staphylococcus aureus counts and yeast and mold in the examined ice-cream samples were 6.47 × 10 6 , 9.17 × 10 5 , 5.23 × 10 6 , 2.73 × 10 6 , 1.05 × 10 7 , 1.97 × 10 6 and 1.04 × 10 6 CFU/ml, respectively. While, in rice pudding samples the average counts of the aerobic plate, total coliforms , fecal coliforms , Staphylococcus aureus counts and yeast and mold were 1.17 × 10 7 , 6.99 × 10 6 , 5.35 × 10 6 , 1.37 × 10 7 , 9.81 × 10 6 and 5.32 × 10 6 CFU/ml, respectively, while in mahlabia samples, the counts were 6.44 × 10 6 , 3.04 × 10 6 , 2.06 × 10 6 , 8.19 × 10 6 , 7.09 × 10 5 and 7.40 × 10 6 CFU/ml, respectively. Escherichia coli was detected in 20, 16, and 10% in ice cream, rice pudding and mahlabia samples, respectively. All the examined samples in this study were negative for anaerobes. Evaluation of Clinicopathological alterations in mice experimentally infected with Trichenella spiralis and the Nematocidal effect of Tannic acid and Albendazole 实验感染旋毛虫小鼠的临床病理改变及单宁酸和阿苯达唑的杀线虫作用评价

Trichinella spiralis (T. spiralis) is one of the parasitic nematodes of a highly zoonotic importance. It infects various vertebrates, including human. In this study eighty (n =80) Swiss albino mice were experimentally infected by T. spiralis to assess the nematocidal activity of tannic acid (TA) and albendazole (ABZ) individually or in combination during the intestinal phase of T. spiralis . Mice were divided into 10 equal groups 8 mice for each, (control): non-infected but received saline, (ABZ): non-infected and treated with ABZ 50 mg/kg, (TA1000): non-infected and treated with TA1000 µg/ml, (TA2000): non-infected and treated with TA2000 µg/ml, (ABZ+TA2000): non-infected and treated with ABZ 50 mg/kg + TA2000 µg/ml , (TS): infected non treated, (TS+ABZ) group: infected and treated with ABZ 50mg/kg, (TS+TA1000): infected and treated with TA1000 µg/ml, (TS+TA2000): infected and treated with TA2000 µg/ml and (TS+ABZ+TA2000): infected and treated with ABZ 50mg/kg + TA2000 µg/ml. Mice were sacrificed at 7 th day post infection. Results demonstrated significant reductions in the adult worm count in TS+TA1000, TS+ABZ, TS+ TA2000 and TS+ABZ+TA2000 with efficacies of 91%, 92%, 92% & 99% respectively. Results were confirmed by histopathological examination of the targeted organs. The degree of necrosis was decreased in treated groups, associated with reduction in the percentage of eosinophils. Elevated concentrations of serum ALT, AST, and urea in the infected group were decreased in treated groups, while albumin and glucose were increased. It was concluded that the combined albendazole-tannic acid therapy had the highest effect on reducing parasite burden and restoring normal histological architecture.

Prevalence of some deteriorating microorganisms in raw milk and some locally made cheese 原料奶和一些本地制奶酪中一些变质微生物的流行

Food deterioration has become a very important issue as excessive amounts of food are lost due to microbial spoilage. The work aimed to assess the microbiological quality of raw milk and soft locally made cheeses in Assiut city, Egypt. A total of one hundred and fifty random samples of raw bovine milk (90 samples) and locally made cheese including Kareish and Domiati cheese (30 samples each) were collected randomly from different localities in Assiut city, Egypt. These samples were examined for microbiological evaluation. The investigation revealed that the average APC were 1.9×10, 2.6×10, 6.2×10, 7.5×10 and 1.8×10 cfu/ml or /g for dairy farm milk, dairy shops, street vendor raw milk, Kareish cheese and Domiati cheese, respectively and the average Psychrotrophic count was 8.3×10, 1.0×10, 1.5×10, 2.5×10 and 9.0×10 cfu/ml or /g while the average Proteolytic count was 1.6×10, 2.1×10, 3.7×10, 5.3×10 and 2.0×10 cfu/ml or /g. Additionally, the average Lipolytic count was 2.5×10, 3.9×10, 6.5×10, 9.8×10 and 2.8×10 cfu/ml or /g for the above-mentioned samples respectively. On the other hand, the Lactobacillus counts were 5.5×10, 8.8×10, 1.4×10, 1.9×10 and 5.2×10 cfu/ml or /g, respectively. The average count of total yeast and molds were 9.5×10, 2.5×10, 7.5×10, 7.5×10 and 6.2×10 cfu/ml or /g, respectively. In conclusion, the presence of these organisms indicted that the examined samples were of low quality which reflect unhygienic measures during milking, processing, storage, and distribution chain.

Follicular Dynamic in Balady Goat in Upper Egypt Using Ultrasonography 上埃及巴拉迪山羊卵泡动态超声研究

The objective is to study the Ultrasonographic appearances of the reproductive genitalia of cycling does (8 adult healthy, non-pregnant, cycling Balady does, examined daily for 6 weeks transrectal ultrasonographic examinations for two successive estrous cycles to investigate the length of cycle and as well the biometry of the ovaries, number and size of CL and follicles, size of uterus and cervix when possible). The obtained data showed that does have 3 or 4 Follicular waves. The last wave has the largest duration and the maximum follicle size (ovulatory). The characteristic features of follicular waves in does having three follicular waves denoted that the growth rates for the largest follicles of the ovulatory waves were significantly higher than first (p<0.001) and second waves (p<0.01). While, the characteristic features of follicular waves in doe having four follicular waves denoted that the growth rate of the largest follicles within each wave increased from the first to the fourth wave (0.49 to 0.85 mm/day respectively). The maximum diameter of the ovulatory follicles (7.83±0.51) were significantly larger than the maximum diameter of the largest follicles of the other waves (6.13±0.30 and 5.53±0.87 for third and first wave; P< 0.05), and with the second wave (5.33±0.40, p<0.01). It is concluded that ultrasonographic examinations can be satisfactory performed in our small size local breed of Balady goats. Moreover, 3-4 follicular waves could be estimated per single cycle. However, the number of growing follicles per each wave decreased dramatically from the beginning of the wave to its end either with the anovulatory or ovulatory follicles.
