This study was conducted as descriptive with an aim to determine the factors affecting the attitudes of nurses towards change. The study was conducted with the participation of 178 nurses in state hospital between October 10, 2017 and January 30, 2018. The data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of 24 questions, and the Attitude Against Change Scale consisting of 29 items. In the evaluation of the data, descriptive statistics, One-Way Anova, t-test, Kruskal–Wallis test and Mann–Whitney U test were used. The Attitude Against Change Scale score was determined as 56.82 ± 13.52. A meaningful relation was observed between the Attitude Against Change Scale score averages and certain sociodemographic characteristics of nurses (p < 0.05). It was determined in the study that the nurses between the ages of 30 and 39, having 8–15 years of profession had more positive attitudes towards change. Keywords: Change, attitude towards change, nurse.

Hand-dexterity and hand-eye coordination are important in the nursing profession. In nursing education, equal conditions for gaining experience regardless of gender difference should be established. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effects of gender difference on hand-dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Our study included 100 undergraduate nursing students of XXX University evaluated by O’Connor finger dexterity test. The study demonstrated that males were careful and willing to take care of their patients but they felt they are at the backstage because the occupation is a female predominant one. They were careful during the O’Connor test. The average test duration of female and male students was similar. Students with longer hand and palm lengths had better hand-dexterity. Because wrist circumference and width were more in males than females; this provided advantage to males. O’Connor results demonstrated that male students aren’t less successful in terms of dexterity and hand-eye-coordination. Keywords: Hand-dexterity; nurse; O’connor

Nowadays, the world has changed from a production source to a services-driven force; there are new challenges and shifts towards meaningful learning, together with rapid technological, socio-economic and environmental changes which call for a specific educational approach that learners need to acquire meaningful knowledge while encouraging them to utilise their knowledge in learning process to develop lifelong learning skills in order to prepare them for a complex future. Creativity in nursing education is an essential competence in fostering nursing learners; as both creative and critical thinking skills are needed to identify issues and create critical solutions to improve learners’ cognitive attributes and reflection and engagement in learning by developing assessment strategies and inspiring internal motivation for lifelong learning during various teaching activities. Therefore, nursing programmes must prepare nurses who can successfully perform in an environment that demands innovative problem-solving. In this context, this paper reviews the impacts of creativity in nursing education.   Keywords: Nursing education, creativity, creative thinking, strategies of creativity

The study was conducted with the participation of 130 patients receiving treatment in a state hospital between March 25 and May 11, 2018. The data were collected using a questionnaire form consisting of 20 questions and the Illness Perception Questionnaire. Kruskal–Wallis test, Spearman Correlation test in addition to descriptive statistics were used for the evaluation of the data. The item that the patients received the highest score from the Illness Perception Questionnaire was ‘My treatment would be effective in healing my disease’ (3.83 ± 1.21) and the lowest score was from the item ‘Nothing can improve my condition’ (1.93 ± 1.12). It is recommended to organise training in order to strengthen the patients to deal with the side effects of their diseases. Keywords: Illness perception, behaviour, opinion.

It was found that 77% of the patients had a chronic disease, 49.2% used oral anti-diabetes, 33.5% insulin and 15.7% used both oral anti-diabetes and insulin. The median score of the Type 2 Diabetes Self-Efficacy was determined as 70.00 (21–100). In this study, it is recommended to conduct training to increase the self-efficacy levels of diabetic patients. In the 21st century, continuous and evolving complex treatment needs required health professionals to be educated about using social media for their ethical and legal responsibilities that are more influenced. So, the learners should be adapting to become power users of education and demand up-to-date interesting models of teaching by using social media to encourage dialogue and self-efficacy. Using social media tools, such as Blogs, Twitter, Wikis, Facebook and YouTube in nursing education develops critical reflection skills, promotes life-long learning and supports decision-making skills. While the risks raise privacy concerns regarding the interactions among learners and between learners and educators. Hence, nurse educators and learners must be aware of e-professionalism when using social media, and how to separate their personal and professional life to communicate with peers, patients, family and friends. In this context, this paper reviews how social media impacts on nursing education, and the vital role of nurse educators and learner. Keywords: Nursing education, social media, e-professionalism, benefits of social media, risks of social media.

The study was carried out with the participation of 80 nurses working in the state hospital in Gumushane city centre. The data were collected using the nursing introductory information form and the ‘The Perception of Health Scale’. In the analysis of the data, Kruskal–Wallis and Mann–Whitney U test with frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation were used and in the examination of the relations between variables, Pearson correlation test from nonparametric methods was used. Of the nurses participating in the study, 92.5% were women, 7.5% were men, 46.3% were graduates, 68.8% loved their work, 62.5% were satisfied with the service and 60% worked in shifts. This study was a descriptive study aimed to determine the relationship between nurses’ professional quality of work life and professional attitudes. The ability of nurses to work efficiently and productively depends on the development of a qualified environment that will support their professional practices. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out with 165 nurses working in a university hospital in the city of Samsun between 15 July and 15 August 2017. The total score average of the Nurses’ Quality of Life Scale was found to be 105.9 ± 7.5 and the median score of Professional Attitude Inventory was found to be 118 (76–159). A statistically significant relationship was found between some socio-demographic and working characteristics of the nurses, the Professional Quality of Life Scale and Professional Attitude Inventory scores (p < 0.05). The findings show that there is no relationship between nurses’ quality of professional life and their professional attitudes. Keywords: Nurse, professional quality of life, professional attitude.
