Within the main topic, the following goals and tasks are defined as: – to support patriotic education, improve health conditions of the young generation; educate environmental friendliness, responsibility and nature-oriented attitude in the young generation; – to identifyg main vectors and conditions for efficient ecological education at the Regional Special Library and other educational organizations in Western Kazakhstan; – to coordinate ecological activities of secondary schools and other educational organizations of the region. Methodologically, the paper is based on the Library’s information reports for 2016–2019, paper by V. P. Fomin, Director of the Regional Center for Children’s Creativity and Ecology, «Educating Eurasian Personal Culture through Local Studies, Tourist and Ecological Activities».

The concepts of green library, green librarianship, and sustainable libraries have become popular in the library community and have been intensively examined in the publications and materials on the webpage of IFLA Environment, Sustainability and Libraries Section (further ENSULIB). Since 2016, the contest IFLA Green Library Award has been held. The Award materials make the valuable source of information and inspiration for the libraries. The author attempts to systematize the approaches to establishing green libraries and to draw attention on the most interesting winner projects and ideas.

The Scientific Library is the key player in the information awareness system for industrial ecologists in Tambov Region. In the past, specialists came to the library for information, attended the ‘days of professionals’ on the Library’s premises. However, the situation has changed. Librarians are looking for new services and expanding the library space. Due to close cooperation with Tambov Region Department for Environmental Protection and Nature Management, the Library takes an active part in Public Discussions of Regulatory Enforcement which enables to communicate with industrial ecologists. Information resources and library services are also promoted at diverse conferences and round tables.
