The paper explores the key factors affecting the corporate culture formation and development. Recently, the issues of corporate culture, especially in large organizations, trigger the focused attention of a number of management theorists and practitioners. It is a relatively new and insufficiently researched concept, both in this country and abroad. People make the foundation of any company, conversely any organization directs its activities towards a person fostering a multifaceted diversity of organizational culture brought in by each employee. This wide spectrum of variety is shaped by the uniqueness of each individual. Each person’s genetic background is exceptional which stems from people’s diversity of the universe. Ukrainian national individualism specified by the nature of social life plays a dual role in building a corporate culture domain of domestic business structures. Given the equity capital formation under the indirect ownership-based principle of “from individual to collective”, this feature of a national character contributes to corporate philosophy tailoring. The paper suggests a definition of the “corporate culture” concept as a set of values, beliefs, opinions, perceptions, expectations, symbols as well as behavior norms and patterns, traditions, rituals, etc. that have developed in the organization or its divisions during its life cycle and which are accepted by the majority of employees. The system of leadership based on encouraging practices is proved to be most effective. Diligent, initiative performance of management instructions, hard creative work in this case depend on the remuneration policy. Thus, incentives should be meaningful for a performer and feasible for a firm. Insights to a range of theoretical and practical aspects in building employee’s corporate culture are provided. The personnel particular role in facilitating the enterprise performance efficiency is revealed. The paper verifies the need to implement coaching in terms of effective training practices for staff development.

The paper seeks to provide insights to the nature and problematic issues as well as to specify the institutes for adaptation and integration of internally displaced persons in modern Ukraine. Yet, a vast range of problems faced by IDPS in the process of their adaptation remains unresolved so far. Among the major challenges of IDP social integration are as follows: housing and employment problems, financial hardship, dissolution of family ties, the problem of adaptation, etc. The situation and problems of internally displaced persons have been analyzed along with providing a socio-demographic portrait of IDP in Ukraine, the key challenges for IDPS have been revealed. According to the survey, forced migrants maintain close relationships with charity organizations and government social services (respectively 69% and 44% of respondents, respectively). The problem of employment is the survival issue for IDPS in modern realia, since the government support fails to cover even the accommodation costs. Housing rent and utilities expenditures account for almost the entire income of IDPS. Apart from financial problems, a great number of IDPS worry about the ongoing war in Ukraine and strive for peace (84% of respondents) as well as the failure to be with their families (42% of respondents), which are important for the process of adaptation. The research findings offer the following recommendations to be undertaken: the government support must primarily be targeted to resolve the major problems that IDPS cannot overcome on their own, i. e. finding a place to live and employment. It is critical to create favourable environment and incentives for those employers who employ migrants. This will raise the level of IDPs competitiveness in the labour market, thus making their adaptation much easier. Since people have undergone through extremely traumatic experiences due to military actions and the process of resettlement, forced migrants need psychological assistance. Local communities should engage IDPS into social events to foster their integration. In conclusion, it is argued that internally displaced persons are a potential that will allow Ukraine to flourish, live in peace and consent in a single territory, for the sake of a bright future of the nation. The strategies and mechanisms for internally displaced persons adaptation and integration into the new social and cultural environment have been explored; the role of the government, volunteers and international organizations in promoting the adaptation and integration of internally displaced persons has been specified.

Mass media globalization as part of the global informatization process encourage separate research endeavors, further explanation and analysis for a number of reasons, in particular, due to its scale, consequences and perspectives of the complex and dominant economic impact on all aspects of the economy as well as on humanitarian domain of social life. In modern realia, a generally accepted understanding of information technology has emerged, i. e. being a set of methods and software tools that are integrated into a technological chain to ensure the information accumulation, processing, storage, distribution and display. Apparently, global cultural affinity is gained through mass media to a much greater extent than by technological aspects of globalization – it is simply wider than the scope of such technology components as networks, mobile communications, television, etc. however, despite the above mentioned, the mass media development pace as a global tool is significantly more slowly than particular technological solutions and instruments of globalization. When considering globalization through the prism of mass media as a driver of international marketing development, it becomes clear that it is a powerful but yet, most frequently, a destructive instrument that has the capacity and the ability to bypass various formal barriers, such as sovereignty, independence, national specifics, etc. Moreover, we should not ignore the possibility of avoiding an “information war” phenomenon, either. The paper provides insights into the role of information technologies in establishing a dialogue and consent in modern society, it also seeks to evaluate their manifestation and effects on the process of cross-cultural communication in the context of international marketing development and globalization.

The paper discusses the research findings on building innovation infrastructure in the framework of cross-border partnerships within the European vector of foreign economic relations development. The key strategic areas for creating business incubators and enhancing integration processes in terms of cross-border partnerships are identified. The alternative ways of funding innovative projects and providing support for innovation infrastructure in the context of cross-border collaboration in the form of public-private partnerships are suggested. The paper argues that public-private partnerships in cross-border cooperation involves not the whole spectrum of relations between communities within the territories of neighbouring states but only those that are associated with general use public infrastructure development and related services provision. Evidence is given that, on the one hand, cross-border infrastructure itself acts as an object of investment, and on the other one, is an essential prerequisite of investment attractiveness and economic growth. It is briefly explained that building an innovation infrastructure on the basis of cross-border partnerships will contribute to: improving the business climate and building environment for investments inflow into Ukrainian economic regions; increasing turnover, boosting small and medium entrepreneurship; creating and maintaining cross-border economic and business incubators, clusters, enhancing and further developing of infrastructure. It is specified that the integration of the developed innovation infrastructure with education, research and business brought together provides for building efficient industry innovation chains, implementing the full cycle of competitive scientific and technological product development – from a research idea to a large-scale manufacturing.

The paper seeks to verify that to create favourable environment to enhance branding-based integrated business structures development, it is critical to ensure management effectiveness of consolidation processes and to increase the owners’ profits. To attain this objective, a range of methodological approaches, tools and methods for consolidation efficiency forecasting and evaluation have been suggested. The author's approach to managing consolidation processes refers to the systems theory and profit management. The bulk of the proposed solution is to examine the effects of consolidation processes on owners’ profits subject to the group operation as a system of brand development. As a principal tool to achieve this goal, the study proposes a pre-project analysis method which consists of separate procedures to assess the effects on: strategic location – through the developed graphical mathematical model; production and economic efficiency – through the assessment of changes in integrated structures of business (ISB) cash flows subject to synergistic effect calculated using a cognitive map; the risk exposure – through business simulation. The core of the analysis is modelling of financial and operation activities of the group of companies before and after the consolidation, based on the adjusted input-output model of consolidated financial statement specifics in industrial companies. The final procedure in pre-project consolidation analysis is to assess the consolidation projects by means of multi-criteria decision-making analysis method. The study also suggests a broader approach to the consolidation process – from a project portfolio perspective that maximizes the utility under budget constraints.

The paper focuses on the need for enhancing small business development as a mandatory component of a market-based economic system. A thorough comprehensive analysis has been performed to reveal the characteristic features of modern entrepreneurship, providing insights into small business management basics in terms of the criteria of economic security and the enterprise life cycle. To solve the research problem set, the following research methods were employed: a method of abstract logic (to detect regularities of processes, phenomena and trends in the development of small businesses) and a monographic method (to study the organizational and management principles of small business). Recommendations and tips for managing small businesses are offered taking into consideration a set of criteria and economic security indicators for small enterprises. The key criteria for small business economic security refer to its development capacity; depreciation of physical facilities and resources; financial and economic performance indicators; the crime rate as to business entities; the system viability to ensure the appropriate level of commercial confidentiality as well as property and private safety of businesses. It is proved that any life cycle stage of a small business development should involve a range of clear, consistent and coordinated management actions to implement the business goals. Evidence has been provided that to prevent bankruptcy and small business liquidation at any stage of its life cycle it is critical to implement the effective management paradigm which will mitigate the effects of external environment threats and maintain the optimum life cycle development of small businesses. It is argued that a correct choice of strategic guidance promotes the sustainable development of small businesses, enhances their economic security, assures products and services competitiveness, etc.

The paper argues that franchising is a specific form of doing business that applies to all developed market-economy countries. However, the scope of franchise practice in the Ukrainian economy, in particular in the area of doing business and entrepreneurship among socially vulnerable groups, remains rather limited. The research hypothesis is to assess the attractiveness of franchising for socially vulnerable populations. The implementation of this type of entrepreneurship by socially vulnerable groups allows to gain significant benefits for all the participants of franchising relationships: for start-uppers this is a good opportunity for effective self-employment, since they obtain a stable profitable business; for reputed firms and companies – to expand and strengthen their market positions; for the state – to acquire an effective tool to support entrepreneurship. The purpose of this study is to provide rationale for selecting the most appropriate franchise business model for socially vulnerable populations and to evaluate its implementation specifics. To summarize the research findings, the following methods were used: the taxonomy method – to analyze the key stages of business models evolution and classification; cluster and factor analysis – to expound the basic elements and tools of a franchise business model; the methodology for modeling of future by constructing scenarios – to predict possible socio-cultural and existential franchise-based entrepreneurship risks. The paper also seeks to explore characteristics of franchise entrepreneurship; its significance and role in the socioeconomic framework; the sources and motifs behind social entrepreneurship; the specific patterns of building business models for socially vulnerable groups along with justifying the particular indicators and criteria to develop a franchise business model typology and to reveal the institutional aspects in the formation of different types of franchise-based business models. The above study on the conceptual paradigm of social entrepreneurship has allowed to expand the theoretical understanding of social business entities functioning and development and to identify the peculiarities in the formation of different types of franchise business models. The application of the most optimal model will contribute to enhance the management efficiency of social businesses, which in turn will increase the cumulative social effects through the replication and dissemination of successful sustainable business models.

The paper provides insights to the challenging issues of searching for methods to reduce unemployment by drastic increase in employment capacity in the current and newly created high-performance workplaces. It is argued that the development of innovative paradigm of professional training and retraining of unemployed, associated with reintegration of training participants into working career along with promoting the interaction between all the actors of a social discourse and monitoring of the labour market in the context of professional qualifications, should become a critical guidance to reduce social tension in society and maintain an active job seekers support. It is emphasized that vocational training of temporarily unemployed is one of effective actions to overcome the imbalance between supply and demand on the labour market. The research findings have revealed that at present Ukraine is facing a critical need for building new relationships in the labour market and the market of education services domains, the drivers of which should be customized vocational training against specific orders of employers; qualitative monitoring of workplace needs; strict requirements to professional competences of graduates; coordination and compliance of the content and area of training and retraining programmes with the predictive trends for labour market development. The paper also presents the results of the analysis on the vocational training for the unemployed and the condition of the vocational training market in Ukraine. It is proved that the current module-based technology implementation in the process of vocational training allows offering interactive solutions to respond to labour market challenges, enhance government employment policy, facilitate the development of vocational training for the unemployed, and take full advantage of using innovative technologies in the process of their retraining.

The paper seeks to provide a comparative analysis of the categories of ‘entrepreneurship’,’motivation’ and ‘encouragement’ based on research studies by Ukrainian scholars. It is argued that entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized business in particular, in the context of market transformations in Ukraine should become a critical factor in boosting socioeconomic development of the country. Extensive study of a vast body of statistical data and domestic research findings has revealed the specifics and trends of doing business in modern Ukraine. The paper also discusses and provides deeper insights into the basic aspects of shadow economy in Ukraine which hinders the development of the national economy competitiveness, growth of social living standards as well threatens Ukraine’s further integration into economic space of developed European countries. The current state of the shadow economy in Ukraine has been tracked along with revealing the essential factors driving the national shadow economy and suggesting a set of relevant consistent actions to combat this negative phenomenon. The paper also describes the key methods of employee encouragement and motivation at domestic enterprises together with providing the monitoring results on the common leadership and management mistakes that occur in the process of staff motivation in the national business settings. Based on the authors’ diverse personal experience of working in different domestic companies, an individual scheme of staff motivation is proposed which can harmonize the common objectives of the employer and the employee, thus contributing to enhance the competitiveness of domestic enterprises. In the frameworks the given conceptual analysis of specific characteristics of doing business in modern Ukrainian realia and shadow economy effects, a methodology and principles of personnel motivation are suggested which facilitate an increase in labour productivity and boost employees’ personal interest in their due diligence and effective performance.

The paper offers a system approach to cost analysis in garment manufacturing. The content of cost analysis and its major elements have been disclosed: the purpose, objectives, object, subject, principles, information and methodological support, unit of measurement and results. The major problems that affect the expenditure level in domestic garment manufacturing have been revealed. It is evidenced that factors of both internal and external environment negatively affect cost management, thus triggering the problems at the three levels: the macrolevel (the Ukrainian industry), the mesolevel (sector of textiles, apparel, leather, leather goods and products from other materials) and the microlevel (garment manufacturer). The key macrolevel problems account for inflation, tax burden, imperfection of legislation, tariffs on public utilities and energy, political challenges, low solvency of the population. At the mesolevel, the major challenges are: the low level of cooperation between domestic enterprises and supporting industries, high import dependency and the high price of imported raw materials, equipment and technologies, small share of medium-sized enterprises or small business associations, intense competition, lack of active government support. Among the main problems at the microlevel are moral and physical depreciation of equipment with depleted resources, low-skilled young employees and high staff turnover, low competitiveness and high production costs, high toll rates, underdeveloped logistics infrastructure which hampers the finished product sales, insufficient product intellectual property rights protection, inadequate national brand promotion policies. The research findings provide an assessment on how the above challenges affect business costs. The problems have been classified depending on the extent of their regulatory management capacity. A matrix has been constructed that allows problems differentiation and their priority setting. This matrix application will contribute to enhance the decision-making and cost management efficiency in garment manufacturing.
