Background: Prematurity and its related challenges are one of the major problems for neonatal medicine. Many studies showed relation between prematurity and vitamin D (Serum 25OHD). Aim of Study: This researchwas conducted to assess the prevalence of Serum 25OHD deficiency among preterm infants at birth and to ascertain if lung disease morbidities are connected to serum 25OHD status at birth. Patients and Methods: This investigation was prospective cross-sectional research which was carried out at the Neonatal Intensive care unit (NICU) in Kasr Al-Ainy University Hospitals, between September 2021 and March 2022, on 80 preterm neonates with a gestation age <34 weeks assessed by the last menstrual cycle or ultrasound who admitted in NICU within 24 hours of life. Serum 25 OHD was assayed by ELISA. Results: Serum 25OHD wasdeficient (<20ng/mL) in 58 cases (63.8%) with serum 25OHD Level, mean ± SD was 6.54±3.2, it's insufficient (20-30ng/ml) in 7 cases (8.8%) with serum 25OHD Level mean ± SD was 23.03±1.58 and it's sufficient (>30ng/ml) in 15 cases (18.8%) with serum 25OHDLevel, mean ± SD was 35.08±2.05. Conclusion: Low 25(OH)D levels are much more common in preterm infants from Egypt. Lack of serum 25OHD is a distinct risk factor for the development of RDS in preterm newborns.

Background: Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) is an acute autoimmune-mediated peripheral nervous system disease. Different studies from various geographical regions have reported considerable variability regarding its demographic data, clinical features, subtype and outcome. Aim of Study: This study aimed to describe the demo-graphics, clinical patterns, subtypes and outcome of patients with Guillain-Barre syndrome admitting in Al-Gamhouria Teaching Hospital and a private hospital in Aden City in Yemen. Patients and Methods: It was a prospective study carried out in Al Gamhouria Teaching Hospital and a private hospital in Aden City Southwest of Yemen, over a period of three years, Between (February 2020 to February 2023), it included 30 patients >16 years of age diagnosed with with Guillain-Barre syndrome. Results: During the study period, 30 patients were enrolled, mean age was (31±6) years, (60%) of cases were male while (40%) being female, half of patients belonging to the age group of (16-39) years (50%), Prior history of infection was detected in (67%) of patients, sensorimotor form, was the most common form, it was (63%), demyelinating lesion subtype composed (57%) while axonal lesion subtype (43%), (20%) of the patients subjected to mechanically ventilated, while (80%) of patients have not been ventilated. Conclusion: This study concluded that young, middle age male patients were the majority of cases, demographics, clinical, and eletrodiagnostic results similar to those reported in previous studies, majority of cases were not being ventilated.

Background: Perianal fistula is a common anorectal disease that is associated with a decreased quality of life. Despite the advances made in recent years, the treatment of perianal fistula remains a challenge due the difficulty of maintaining continence while preventing recurrence. Aim of Study: To do a systematic search and meta-analysis of the available literature to assess the outcome of FiLaC in the treatment of non-branching perianal fistula. The main objective is to learn about the healing rates and complications associated with FiLaC to reach a conclusion about its overall safety and efficacy. Subjects and Methods: In the current systematic review meta-analysis, a total of 14 studies were included with a total of 809 patients, out of them 11 studies were retrospective, 1 prospective study, 1 cohort study and 1 case series. Results: Pain post-operative assessed in 5 studies with event rate 9.5% and significant heterogeneity between studies. Success assessed in 14 studies with event rate 52.9% and significant heterogeneity between studies. Failure assessed in 14 studies with event rate 45.955% and significant heterogeneity between studies. Complications assessed in 14 studies with event rate 2.7% and significant heterogeneity between studies. Data Sources: Medline databases (PubMed, Medscape, Science Direct. EMF-Portal) and all materials available in the Internet till 2022. Conclusion: FiL aC is a promising, sphincter-saving technique for the treatment of perianal fistula. It has proven efficacy with more than half of the patients achieving complete healing after its primary application. The main advantage of FiL aC is the good safety profile with very few minor complications and almost no negative effects on continence

Background: Impaired subclinical left atrial (LA) function may contribute to the risk of cardiovascular disease in obesity. Aim of Study: To highlight the effect of obesity on LA strain in patients with a structurally normal heart. Subjects and Methods: This is a prospective case-control study performed in El Demerdash Hospital echocardiography unit. This study included fifty nonobese subjects (BMI <30kg/m 2 ) as controls, and the other 50 obese subjects (BMI >30kg/m 2 ) as cases. Results: On assessing left atrial measurements and functions, max and min LA volume by Biplane method by Speckle tracking echocardiography (STE), indexed volumes and LA EF by Biplane method showed no significant difference between the non-obese group and obese group ( p >0.05). Moreover, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups regarding all the LA strain values ( p >0.05). Conclusion: Obesity has no effect on the LA reservoir, contractile, or conduct strain by 2D speckle-tracking.
