All-optical RZ-DPSK packet compressor and decompressor based on MZI-quantum-dot-SOA 基于mzi -量子点soa的全光RZ-DPSK包压缩与解压缩器

All-optical circuits for packet compression and decompression are proposed for compressing and decompressing differential phase shift keyed (DPSK) packets, using optical delay lines and quantum-dot semiconductor optical amplifier (QDSOA) devices in Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) structures. Packet compression and decompression are simulated between 40 Gb/s and 160 Gb/s and an eye opening penalty (EOP) below 0.4 dB is obtained for packets of size up to 1024 bits. For 64 bit packets, the same packet can be consecutively compressed and decompressed 4 times and an EOP of less than 1 dB is obtained.

Guaranteeing high availability to client-server communications 保证客户机-服务器通信的高可用性

One of the Next Generation Internet (NGI) objectives is to offer services supported by large bandwidth connectivity, such as multimedia services. However their Quality of Service (QoS) is strongly influenced also by resilience. This paper focuses on the important problem of server selection with the highest two-terminal availability for distributed multimedia services. An analytical model gives optimal global server selection in terms of the highest two-terminal reliability for client-server connection in simple networks. For more complex networks a heuristic algorithm is utilized. The proposed algorithm allows to obtain better reliability values than the common shortest path server selection scheme.

Active NIR filter with a free-standing porous silicon microcavity containing liquid crystal 主动式近红外滤波器具有独立的多孔硅微腔含有液晶

We present the design of an interference filter containing a free-standing porous silicon (PS) multilayer film with a microcavity. The estimated pore diameter is 40 - 70 nm. The PS film is installed into a planar glass cell and infiltrated with a nematic liquid crystal (LC) mixture E7. The resonant wavelength of the structure is continuously tuned using thermal dependence of the LC effective refractive index. The reversible tuning of the resonance in the range of 13 nm is demonstrated. Spectra of the structure with the LC in the nematic phase were simulated using the Frank free energy approach with an assumption of the LC molecular configuration being escaped radial (ER). These spectra are very close to corresponding experimental data. Thus, the ER model for nematics in pores narrower then 100 nm is still applicable.

Optimal configuration for size-based burst assembly algorithms at the edge node for video traffic transmissions over OBS networks OBS网络视频流量传输边缘节点基于大小的突发集合算法的优化配置

Optical burst switching (OBS) has been proposed to be a technology for implementing the next generation optical Internet. In this architecture, burst assembly algorithms have an important influence in the pattern traffic that characteristic this sort of optical networks. On the other hand, traffic coming from new applications (such as video on demand, Voice over IP, online gaming or Grid computing) that have real time and bandwidth constraints, has been experimented a rapid increment. Consequently, we consider important to evaluate the performance of traffic from real time applications over OBS networks. In this paper, we evaluate the effects of implementing a size-based burst assembly scheme at the edge node, on the performance of video transmissions (MPEG4/RTP/UDP) over an OBS network. Through event driven simulation, we conclude about the optimal configuration values for the assembly algorithm in order to guarantee high quality video transmissions. With this purpose, we analyse the PSNR, the delay problem and the data loss due to the relation between the amount of traffic source and the maximum burst size.

Coupled-cavity structures on the base of whispering gallery disk dielectric resonators at millimeter wave band 基于毫米波低语通道盘介质谐振器的耦合腔结构

The computerized experimental stand for investigation of the spectral, power and field characteristics of the open disk dielectric resonators frequency range (50-150 GHz) is described. The main properties of the single and coupled-cavity structures on the base of whispering gallery disk dielectric resonators, such as spectrum of eigenmodes, quality factor and field distribution in wide frequency band was experimentally investigated. Linear and arbitrary configuration of coupled structures was investigated. Preservation of spatial structure of resonant oscillations and increase in quality factor of coupled structures are shown.

We will present techniques for all-optical wavelength conversion of phase-modulated signals using four-wave mixing and supercontinuum generation. Techniques for the improvement of the conversion efficiency will be studied. Mainly the suppression of Brillouin scattering and its impact on phase-distortions will be discussed. An assessment of its cascadability in transparent optical networks will conclude the contribution.

Multi-granular optical cross-connects for the CANON network scenario 用于CANON网络场景的多颗粒光交叉连接

Todaypsilas core networks deploy wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) to offer high capacity of the order of 1 Tb/sec and long reach transmission of the order of 1000 km. In such systems, the information is transmitted optically on different wavelengths but it is transferred across the network through fibre links that are terminated by SONET/SDH equipment. In such networks, layer crossing is inevitable, requiring deep data inspection and complex protocol processing, resulting in limited scalability and high installation, operation and maintenance cost. It is however the only reliable end-to-end service delivery scenario available today that utilises the optical bandwidth and guarantees provisioning of resources. In this paper we review the alternative concept of CANON (clustered architecture for nodes in optical networks), a scenario that utilises clustering of nodes in ring topologies to create a hierarchy in transporting traffic in a dynamic, future proof and scalable manner. Here we emphasize on the optical crossconnect architectures that can serve such a network scenario.

Efficient scheduling disciplines for next generation QoS-aware GPON networks 下一代qos感知GPON网络的高效调度规则

Future broadband access networks are expected to rely more and more on fiber-based solutions. To this end PON networks are regarded as one of the most prominent alternatives. This paper proposes a novel MAC scheduling algorithm for GPON networks that can offer efficient operation, combining QoS differentiation with high network utilization. It achieves improved performance by making use of both fixed and dynamic bandwidth allocations along with predictive allocations and the novel concept of offset-based scheduling with flexible intervals, being thus able to effectively adapt to fluctuations of traffic and meet quality of service requirements. The concept of operation is described in detail and the system performance is evaluated using computer simulation.

The device described above is easy to manufacture, it is very small, and it is insensitive to vibrations. It has no movable parts and is well suited to determine the wavelength of pulsed signals. The spectral resolution of the array investigated is limited by the uncertainty in the wavelength reading of the laser. The dynamic range can be varied and adjusted to the specific demand by selecting the appropriate resonator sizes. A larger number should also increase the accuracy of the setup.

Acoustically operated optically transparent nanocomposites 声学操作的光学透明纳米复合材料

In this report we present principal results of synthesis of different kinds of nanocrystallites incorporated into the photopolymer matrices for the operation by their parameters using acoustooptical effects. The technological details of their synthesis are given. Principal results of the acoustooptical quality versus the properties of the nanocomposites are studied. The dependences show high sensitivity of the materials to the nanocrystallite, their sizes and to the content. The possible acoustooptical modulators based on the nanocrystals incorporated into the photopolymer composites are given. Dependence on the time of UV-solidification is given.
