Aliasing and inter-channel interference impact on the performance of multi-channel OFDM-UWB distribution in FTTH networks 混叠和信道间干扰对FTTH网络中OFDM-UWB多信道分布性能的影响

The influence of aliasing components and inter-channel interference on the multi-channel binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) ultra-wide band (UWB) radio signals performance in fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks is evaluated through numerical simulation. It is shown performance degradation exceeding 1 dB when a low-pass filter (LPF) at the transmitter output is used to reduce the aliasing components intensity. However, in the absence of the LPF, a considerable performance variation between OFDM-UWB channels occurs due to inter-channel interference resulting from the aliasing components. Instead, when the LPF is used to decrease the aliasing components intensity, the performance of each OFDM-UWB channel is the same as the one obtained in single-channel operation.

We have determined the conditions for realization of bell-shaped and rectangle spectra of laser solitons in model described by the complex cubic Ginzburg-Landau equation. Spectral peculiarities due to additional quadratic and quintic nonlinearities have been found too.

Experimental demonstration of heterodyne optical phase-locked loop (oPLL), using simplest optics, is carried out. For the first time, the effect of loop delay has been experimentally characterized and compared directly to the most significant oPLL configurations. It demonstrates a linewidth tolerance of 6.5 MHz if FEC codes are used.

Transmission spectrum transformation at photonic hetero-crystal interfaces — Polarization anisotropy 光子异质晶体界面的透射光谱变换-偏振各向异性

Photonic hetero-crystals composed from thin film colloidal crystals of different topology demonstrate the non-trivial transformation of the spectrum of transmitted light, which goes far beyond the superposition of transmissions of single films. This transformation relates to the light coupling conditions at the PBG interface and becomes the most pronounced, if matching takes place between low and high order photonic bands. This spectrum transformation leads to peculiar changes of the polarisation anisotropy of the light propagating at oblique incidence and, provisionally, to the non-reciprocity of the light polarisation composition with respect to reversing the light propagation direction.

Second harmonic generation of narrow beams in subdiffractive photonic crystals 亚衍射光子晶体中窄光束的二次谐波产生

We predict, that extremely narrow beams (of the width of few wavelengths) can be used for an efficient second harmonic generation in quadratic-nonlinear photonic crystals, tuned to the subdiffractive (self-collimating) regime simultaneously for the both, fundamental and the second harmonics, waves. We prove the idea analytically, by harmonic expansion technique, and numerically, by finite difference time domain (FDTD) integration.

Recent progress in research on fiber devices using special fibers by CO2 laser irradiation technique are reviewed. Especially, their newly and precisely controlled characteristics are presented. For the lowest insertion loss and simplest implementation devices, which are effective for access networks, an all-fiber solution is preferred. By the way, numerous optical fiber devices, such as optical couplers and optical filters, have been proposed and used for optical transmissions. Their fiber devices have produced by various fiber processing techniques. While, the techniques which are clean and control the device characteristics after main fiber processing have not been yet developed.

Experimental demonstration of 42.6 Gbit/s asynchronous digital optical regenerators 42.6 Gbit/s异步数字光再生器的实验演示

We experimentally demonstrate a 42.6 Gbit/s asynchronous digital optical regenerator (ADORE) in a dual-window quad-gate configuration using an EAM loop and a dual-gate configuration using a single MZM. These ADORE configurations regenerate, re-shape, and re-time incoming asynchronous bursts of data to a local clock with a desired wavelength without the need for any clock recovery. The dual-window quad-gate and dual-gate ADOREs were used to regenerate and retime a 42.6 Gbit/s RZ-ASK data signal to a local generated clock with a maximum receiver penalty of only ~4.5 dB and ~2 dB, respectively, for any arbitrary data input phase delay.

In this paper we study the possible amplification architecture for passive optical network, in particular we study the interaction of different amplification system. We also propose a novel scheme to implement a signalling channel by direct modulation of the pumping signal.

Efficiency of active Double-Clad fiber pumping in different types of fibers 双包层光纤在不同类型光纤中的抽运效率

In the paper the pumping efficiency of active, different types double-clad fiber has been analyzed. The ray tracing method has been applied for fibers analysis. The most often utilized fibers: circular non-concentric, D-shape, fin-shape, rectangular fibers have been analyzed. The results show that the geometry of the inner clad fibers is not very significant for pumping efficiency, except the case of circular one.
