There has been a tremendous push for world wide competition in recent years and, as such, the financial and economics sectors are gearing towards globalization for balancing traditional centralized corporate control. This trend has forced the business community to adopt new techniques for increasing productivity at lower operating costs. This has given birth to a new concept of re-engineering where the corporate-wide work-flow processes are redesigned instead of simply automating the processes within their organizations. This is exactly what is proposed in client-server computing. A client, in fact, is an application program which runs using local computing resources and at the some time can make a request for database or other network services from another remote application residing on server. The client is typically a PC workstation connected via a network to more powerful PCs, workstations, even mainframe or minicomputers usually known as servers. These are capable of handling requests from more than one client simultaneously. Here, the authors present the various advantages and disadvantages followed by applications of client-server computing models.

The history of the disk-drive industry is relatively short, and has been very volatile indeed. Intense competition in the market place has created rivalry among major OEM players, and introduced continuous price wars, and thus reducing profit margins to almost dangerous levels for many companies and negative margins and negative growth for others. Cost-cutting has not only become a necessity but almost an obsession for all. This has forced all major companies to seek relocation to places where cheaper labour costs with smaller overheads can make them more competitive. This paper discusses some of these issues facing the disk-drive industry as it globalises. Issues involve innovation, technology, supplier issues, management, competition, etc.

Database reverse engineering is the part of system maintenance work that produces a sufficient understanding of an existing database and its application domain to allow appropriate changes to be made. It is often difficult to obtain a good conceptual understanding of an old and ill-designed database, especially when there is a lack of documentation. Database reverse engineering attempts to provide solutions for these problems. Three quality issues regarding reverse engineering of existing databases are discussed: (1) the method of database design chosen to serve as the basis for reverse engineering, (2) thoroughness of domain semantics acquisition, and (3) performance evaluation criteria. These quality issues are important for any database reverse engineering method in order for it to perform at a high level of automation, and to obtain a conceptual schema that is semantically rich and correct.

The objective of the research is to study some basic information of technology management and also to study the process of planning and control of the components of modern automotive logistics system components at the levels of the government, automotive industry and end users. The benefits of the research are to illustrate practical aspects of the technology and logistics management. The integrated management of technology and logistics for commercial vehicles can be achieved by full support of government because of the very strong competition from developed countries.
