Combining ability analysis of blackpod disease incidence in cocoa genotypes in Ghana 加纳可可豆黑荚病发病基因型配合力分析

There were significant differences between cocoa genotypes in the levels of blackpod disease in two field trials. Additive (genetic) effects were predominant. The genotypes Pa 150, Alph. B36 and Pound 7 were identified as the best parents for breeding for enhanced resistance to the disease. The performance of cocoa progenies in terms of blackpod disease incidence cannot always be reliably predicted from the genetic potential of their parents. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd

Mixtures of grass (Chloris gayana) and legume (Trifolium prantese) at seed rates of 50 : 50% produced significantly (p < 0.05) more forage dry matter and were biologically and economically more competitive and viable than 25 : 75%, 75 : 25% or the sole stand. Supplementation with Acacia saligna leaves in fresh, wilted and sun-dried forms to grass hay improved (p < 0.05) the organic matter and crude protein intake, daily weight gain and feed conversion efficiency by lambs. Distribution of two Striga species and their relative impact on local and resistant sorghum cultivars in east Ethiopia 埃塞俄比亚东部两种Striga的分布及其对当地和抗性高粱品种的相对影响

In five districts of east Ethiopia, only Striga hermonthica was identified in sorghum fields in three districts, and only S. asiatica in two. When the Striga-resistant sorghum variety Gubiye/P9401 was grown there was indicated scanty occurrence of Striga (1 to 4/m2), whereas local varieties showed 133 to 288/m2.
