The practical training of students in medical colleges is aimed at acquiring reliable professional competence, professional self-confidence and confidence for future professional realization. The profession of “medical laboratory assistant” is practical and the mastery of general and special skills is a guarantee for the quality of professional training of students. The improvement of the professional qualities and competencies of the students is carried out in a real working environment in clinical practice bases. The awareness that medical laboratory assistants are active participants in the process of diagnostic and treatment activities motivates the students to develop independence and creative thinking in modern conditions. It forms and builds a new professional model of the healthcare specialist that becomes competitive on the national and international market. The present study aims to present the opinion of second and third year students majoring in the specialty “Medical Laboratory Assistant” about the role of practical training, the formation of lasting practical skills and habits in them in order to exercise their professional duties. A study was conducted among second and third year students at the Medical College of Trakia University - Stara Zagora in March and September 2020. The results show that 70% of the students give an excellent and very good assessment of the organization of practical training in the specialty. The participants rate the clinical bases they visit as “very good”, 82% of them agree that the tasks assigned during clinical practice help to acquire the necessary skills for work. The majority of the students, 89%, say that the ratio of hours provided for practical and theoretical training in profiling disciplines is correct, but those who feel confident to apply what they have learned in theory are less in number - 73%. Approximately 90% of the respondents in the survey identify the internship as useful and believe that it would help them realize the specialty in the future.

Aesthetic medicine is evolving rapidly in response to the increasing life expectancy and the psychosocial need to maintain an attractive appearance. The aim of this article is to examine the scientific literature and world practice regarding the application of aesthetic acupuncture and aromatherapy and their ability to influence the aging process. Material and Methods Documentary content analysis of bibliographic data, scientific literature and good practices concerning the preventive and therapeutic use of aesthetic acupuncture and essential oils. Results Review of the scientific literature and good practices reveals the possibilities of independent application of aesthetic acupuncture (incl. aromatherapy) to influence the aging process. No data has been found in foreign and Bulgarian scientific literature on the combined use of acupuncture and local application of essential oils. Conclusion Aesthetic acupuncture and aromatherapy are well known and represented in scientific knowledge as separate therapies. Practical experience of European integrative clinics in the field of aesthetic acupuncture reveals new guidelines for the development and introduction of the combined methodology „aroma acupuncture“ and its influence on the aging process. The analysis of global science and practice stimulates scientific research in the University Center for Eastern Medicine for new opportunities to complement the prevention and treatment of face aging with aesthetic aroma acupuncture.

Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumors (MPNST) are a malignant disease that originates in the cells that cover and protect the peripheral nerves. They are a rare disease, accounting for 6% of soft tissue sarcomas. We present a patient with a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor on the left brachium with neurofibromatosis. The patient underwent whole body PET/CT for restaging after total extirpation of a tumor formation originated from n. musculocutaneous in 09.2017, an excision of a recurrent tumor formation in the proximal half of the brachium invading into m. biceps brachii in 12.2017, a performed MRI in 02.2018 - with data for multiple MPSNT in the area between the two previous operations - and subsequent definitive radiotherapy (boost) in the area of the tumor formation and 6 cycles of chemotherapy with Epirubicin. After restaging PET/CT scan of the whole body was performed, progression of the disease was defined - increased in size and activity subpleural lesion in the lower lobe of the right lung.

During the individual ontogenesis the pulp cavity reduces in size, due to the permanent physiological production of secondary dentin. This results in changes of the morphological structures in the area. The primary focus of this study is the dental pulp, premolar and molar teeth. The methods applied are histological. We used different staining techniques as to visualize the studied objects. As a conclusion we have presented the differences between histological specimens of premolars and molars, as examined under a light microscope.

Undoubtedly, the cosmetic industry is one of the most widespread industries and an integral part of our daily lives. Since ancient times, and even today, the application of herbs has been gaining great popularity in medicine. Due to their healing properties herbs have a high value and are preferred by people of all ages. The purpose of this report is to find out whether people are familiar with the composition of bio-cosmetics and what their opinion about it is. For this purpose, we conducted a survey based on a set of questions people were supposed to answer. It covered 71 people aged under 18 to over 59. 66 of them were women (92.96%) and 5 were men (7.04%). The results show that 88.73% of the respondents have used bio cosmetics, and those who have not are not familiar with its constitution. Is society well-acquainted with the benefits and the practical applications of plants? Is there enough information about this type of cosmetics on the market? We will try to answer these and other closely related questions in our research.

Introduction/Aim 68 Ga-PSMA PET/CT is increasingly used in the evaluation of prostate cancer (PC), particularly in the detection and localization of disease recurrence. The main aim of the current study is to present physiological variation in distribution of PSMA activity and avidity in various benign and neoplastic conditions, as well as false-negative findings that may be misinterpreted. Materials and Methods PSMA represents an excellent biological target for high quality PET imaging of PC. However, PSMA uptake is not prostate-specific and is also expressed in other pathologic conditions. The causes of false-positive and false-negative 68 Ga-PSMA PET/CT findings are described. It is important for reporting physicians to recognize these findings. Results and Discussion PSMA is expressed in various benign and pathologic conditions. A wide range of malignancies other than PC have been reported to express PSMA as part of tumor neovasculature. Conclusion The nonexclusivity of PSMA avidity can potentially pave the way to expand the PSMA theranostic concept outside of PC.

The global nature of the world‘s aging population necessitates the search for ways to preserve and maintain active longevity in the elderly. The aim of the study is to analyze the possibilities of therapeutic exercise for older people and the elderly with hypertension in the conditions of nursing homes. During the course of this study it was found that exercise therapy has a positive effect on the main physiological parameters in elderly people with hypertension, which proves the need to use this method as a non-drug stage in complex rehabilitation.

In the last years there have been numerous studies of unconventional methods as a result of increasing interest to its possibilities for additional treatment of chronic disease. This aim of this article is to investigate the level of awareness of rehabilitation students of unconventional medicine and their readiness to apply it in practice. Material and Methods The study was done among third year Rehabilitation students at the Medical Colleges of Varna and Sofia. Results and Discussion The study revealed that a large number of the participants are familiar with the methods of unconventional medicine. They used social media as the main resource to get information on the subject. Half of the respondents are willing to integrate unconventional medicine in their practice. Conclusion The analysis of the result presents the need of incorporating unconventional medicine in the educational program of Rehabilitation students.

The workload in radiology departments has been increasing substantially over the last few decades. This is due to the greater need of tomographic examinations, as well as the increasing number of slices in each examination, determined by the advancements in tomographic technology. In order to ameliorate this, it is necessary to implement means of optimising the workflow of the diagnostic radiologist. Among them the most widely spread and easily accessible are special methods for visualization and image postprocessing – multiplanar reformats, maximum intensity projections, volume rendering techniques, and segmentation. They enable easier differentiation of unclear findings, faster and more reliable discovery of fine small calibre lesions and thrombi, improved spatial orientation and pre-operative planning, as well as acquisition of reproducible and reliable medical scientific measurements. These methods are available as builtin modules in most medical imaging software packages (including ones with an open source) and are an integral part of radiological interpretation, saving time and effort. In the future they can be reinforced with highly specialized artificial intelligence, which could make automatic measurements and locate a specific type of finding.
