BACKGROUND: Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is one of the most important causes of mortality and morbidity in newborns. Few studies with conflicting results have been conducted on the effect of perinatal asphyxia and thyroid hormones METHODS: A total of 96 newborns (46 patients with HIE and 50 controls) were included in the study. Electroencephalography (EEG) results, cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), Sarnat Stages, and the presence of seizures of the HIE group were recorded. Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (fT4) levels of all cases were also measured between 5-10 days. Patients with HIE were separated into 3 groups according to the fT4 (≤1.52 ng / dL, 1.52-1.84 ng / dL, and ≥1.84 ng / dL), and TSH (≤2.56 IU / mL. 2.56-5.3 1IU / Ml, and ≥5.31 IU / mL) levels. RESULTS: All the newborns with seizures were in the 1st or 2nd tertiles of fT4, none of those with high fT4 (>1.84 ng/dL), and the difference was statistically significant (x2=6.61; p=0.036). A negative correlation was determined between fT4 level and duration of hospitalization (=-0.43; p=0.03), duration of respiratory support (r=-0.32; p=0.029), duration of intubation (r=-0.40; p=0.006), and time to full oral feeding (r=-0.40; p=0.006). The TSH level was only correlated with the duration of hospitalization (r=-0.34, p=0.02). CONCLUSIONS: Free T4 level may be used as a prognostic marker in newborns with HIE. Further multicenter, larger, and prospective studies are needed to support and confirm these findings.
根据fT4(≤1.52 ng / dL、1.52 ~ 1.84 ng / dL、≥1.84 ng / dL)和TSH(≤2.56 IU / mL、2.56 ~ 5.3 IU / mL、≥5.31 IU / mL)水平将HIE患者分为3组。

Purpose: Dual-task performance have a role in independent motor functions such as gait and balance. Although walking and balance parameters are important in functional independence, the level of independence is a complex condition affected by many factors. The aim of this cross-sectional study is to investigate the relationship between dual-task performance and functional independence levels in stroke patients. Material and Methods: 26 hemiplegic patients were included in this research in a tertiary healthcare institution. The participants’ independence levels were evaluated by the functional independence mesasure(FIM). Single task performance, motor dual-task performance, and cognitive dual-task performance were evaluated by calculating walking time in a 10-meter walking test. The relationship between dual-task interference and functional independence level was examined by Spearman correlation analysis. Results: The motor dual-task interference was found as 0.7 (0.0-0.26) and the cognitive dual-task interference was found as 0.19 (0.05-0.38). There was a negative, moderate, and statistically significant correlation between the FIM score and the motor dual-task interference (r = -0.48, p = 0.01). However, no significant correlation was detected between FIM score and cognitive dual-task interference (p = 0.16). Conclusion: The level of functional independence in stroke patients is associated with motor dual-task interference. Rehabilitation programs that improve dual-task performance can increase the functional independence levels of stroke patients.

Purpose: Our study aimed to examine the relationship between fear of COVID-19 and psychiatric symptoms in patients with schizophrenia Material and Methods: Following the rules on infection, a face-to-face questionnaire was conducted with 103 patients with schizophrenia. Participants were evaluated by using the COVID-19 Fear Scale (FCoV-19S) and the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). Results: Participants' average FCoV-19S scores were less than half of the maximum score on the scale. We found that positive symptoms score was significantly negatively associated with FCoV-19S scores, whereas negative symptoms score was positively associated with the FCoV-19S scores in the bivariate model. We found that positive symptoms predicted fear of COVID-19 negatively and significantly, while general psychopathology symptoms predicted fear of COVID-19 positively and significantly.. Conclusion: We think it is necessary to develop situation-specific rehabilitation interventions for this group, which has become more vulnerable to the COVID-19 outbreak. We are of the opinion that various methods of intervention should be developed and addressed in future studies about possible consequences of low or high COVID-19 fear.

Purpose: It was planned as a descriptive study in order to determine what academics from certain socio-cultural groups of the society think about vaccines. Method: The population of the research consists of academic staff working at Sivas Cumhuriyet University. In the study, between April 2021 and May 2021, by applying the online form, 104 volunteers who volunteered to participate in the research were reached, without using the sample selection method. After obtaining the necessary ethical and official permissions, data were collected using the socio-demographic characteristics form and the anti-vaccine scale. Results: The mean of total anti-vaccination among academicians was 1.99±0.80. Although it was determined in this study among academics that the mean anti-vaccine score was low and the academics were not anti-vaccine, the opinion that the vaccine has no effect on the Covid-19 process and will not end the pandemic is significantly high. Conclusion: Although there are many factors that can cause the idea of vaccination rejection, it has been seen in many studies that the training and counseling provided are quite effective. Therefore, it is very important to raise awareness of the academicians, who are highly educated and open to education, about vaccination.
