Mobile health applications can allow for care providers to reach a broader audience than in-person interventions can. Additionally, in times of a pandemic like COVID-19, care can be provided in a safer way for providers and for patients. A mobile health app was developed to teach about the prevention and treatment of hypertension and diabetes. This app was specifically designed and tailored for an Indian population since these noncommunicable diseases are large contributors to death in Indian adults. Previous work targeted an Indian population in India, but this work explores the impact of the app with a migrant Indian working population in Hong Kong. Participants showed statistically significant learning gains in knowledge about both hypertension and diabetes as a result of using the app’s animations and games. This demonstrates the effectiveness of mobile health apps at providing targeted healthcare education.

An increasing number of companies offer their capabilities as Web services and publish them through public registries. Such Web services enable users to access and manipulate online data programmatically. Moreover, they can be deployed in service-based systems (SBS) or composite web applications and mashups to offer value-added services. A crucial step in deploying Web services is the Web service Discovery. Selecting the best Web service candidates to address the needs of service requesters (e.g., SBS designers) is an important task in SBSs and can influence the quality of the resulting composite web application. So far proposed solutions for addressing this challenge, which are mainly categorized into Syntactic-based and Semantic-based, are either too complex for end-users which hinders their large-scale adaptation or suffer from low precision and recall. Considering the recent trend of shifting the development activities more and more towards the end-users, we propose an approach based on chat-bot technology to allow end-users to select a set of best-fitting Web services according to their goals. Conversational Interfaces also known as chatbots aim at providing users a more natural framework to interact with web applications and devices. The advantage of DISCO compared to the state-of-the-art approaches is leveraging the natural language as the communication medium and alleviating the need for end-users to have technical knowledge about the service’s structure and location. We conducted sets of experiments by recruiting 8 test subjects to query the chatbot. The results achieve high precision and recall.

Over the last 20 years scientists from many disciplines have proposed mechanisms that allow decision-makers to negotiate directly on common outcomes. The Internet-enabled versions of these mechanisms can allow citizens to practice direct democracy and thus increase participation in governance. This study investigates the information requirements of one of these mechanisms – the Online Compensation Election. More specifically the study tests if the level of detail of the information available to a voter about the preference intensities of other voters affects voting behavior. We find that a decrease in the granularity of the real preference intensity information about others does not affect voting behavior and the referendum’s compensation outcomes We discuss the implications of these results and possible future directions for research.

We propose a dynamically prioritized failure management method according to the reliability model that the failure rate of virtual machine varies in its life cycle. When using a combination of server monitoring with ping and network connection check with Ethernet OAM, the system sets higher priorities to the port connected to a long running server, and the port within a certain time after the connection change or virtual machine addition is set. The system then selects the ports from the higher priority port to be monitored by Ethernet OAM. As a result of the evaluation by the simulation, by dynamically selecting the port to be monitored for Ethernet OAM using the proposed method, it was confirmed that more than a third of all failures were detected with Maintenance End Points which number is only a tenth of that of servers in a data center. In the data center for cloud services running many VMs, it is possible to shorten the recovery from VM failure while suppressing the number of objects monitored by Ethernet OAM by using this method.

Social networks play an important role in the life of today's societies and consumers are engaging more online with brands. Brands create and share information and special video ads on social networks, and, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, social networks allow brands to communicate with their consumers simply and quickly. Therefore, creativity and narrative structures are important for consumers. Brands are producing video ads that show consumers’ day context in order to obtain greater social media engagement. Considering that, this paper aims to study whether that goal is being achieved. The empirical research, from which we obtained 427 responses and which was tested using structural equations using the AMOS software, allows to conclude that creativity, the structure of the narrative and the consumer's congruence with the brand are determinants of engagement in social media. Further, presents practical and theoretical recommendations.

Personalization depends on prior knowledge about information retrieval and web search and aims to build accurate and detailed user models. Thus, in the first step, it has to present a definition of a user model and in the next step, the contexts of what type of data is used in user-profiles and the models to represent them have to be provided. The structure of the user profile always is an important issue because of its impact on ranking performance. It is clear that if the algorithms used in the user model are more accurate and robust, the user model and personalized services will result in better efficiency and quality. Therefore, creating an efficient user profile is a challenge. Our motivation is to develop a keyphrase-based profile that operates on documents to improve personalization. These profiles are created using the keyphrase based models on the query log, as long-term, short-term and session-term to consider user interest in different time intervals to compare efficiency. Besides, we conduct comparative research on topic-based user profiles, intending to compare keyphrase-based and topic-based profiles in the personalization process. The results obtained more accuracy in session-based models by 13% in mean reciprocal rank and 14% in normalized discounted cumulative gain than long-based models.

The goal of this paper is to address the relevance of applying microservice based system architecture, with an emphasis on the challenges of implementing security in this model. Based on the impact this brought to the academic literature, an in-depth bibliographic analysis was performed using the Theory of the Consolidated Meta-Analytic Approach to trace inter-relationships between the studies already performed on security in microservices in order to identify trends, main authors, research centers, relevant papers and keywords.. From a base of 837 Scopus papers, some of the main facts found through the analysis of bibliographic metadata were that the authors of greatest influence are M. Fowler, S. Newman, R. Buyya, Y. Chen, P. Jamshidi, and Y. Zhang, the countries that published the most on the subject were China, USA, and Germany and that the subject is still on the rise in academic literature.

The aggregation and visualization of data are part of one of the most important fields of Data Science’s application today. This class of tools evidences its importance in the area of public health, especially in the context of epidemics and pandemics. However, there are several issues in accessing reliable data, such as diverse sources, economic interests, and technical difficulties. This work proposes and explores the technological choices for the implementation of a system in which, collaboratively, users provide health information, which are made available through panels with scalability in access and flexibility in the analysis, allowing a macro view of the situation. Also, with the use of these visualizations and mobile application technologies, users can take advantage of services such as monitoring health status and sending alerts of emergency situations.

Native advertising has developed into a popular marketing tool for publishers and advertisers. However, its success is also criticized, because it is assumed that readers are not able to identify these contributions as advertising. The purpose of this study is to outline whether readers recognize native ads and how it affects the trust in the content of the articles. It is also intended to help advertisers and publishers better understand the impact of native advertising and its disclosure on readers. The method of this research is based on a theoretical and empirical approach. For the theoretical aspects of this study, a literature analysis was applied, whereas a quantitative analysis in the form of an experiment was conducted for the empirical part. The study shows that a majority of the sample did not recognize the article as native ad. After the disclosure of native advertising a decrease in trust could be determined. However, this is not significant, which means that the majority of readers still trust the content of the article. It is also found that respondents for whom the content of the article is relevant are less concerned about the article being paid for. Thus, it can be said that the success of native advertising may in fact be related to the inability of readers to recognize this type of advertising. The increased recognition of such contributions, however, does not necessarily lead to a reduced success of native advertising, because the majority of contributions are trusted even after disclosure.
