Cities and water: A fluvial and environmental analysis of Espinharas River in Patos city, Paraíba State 城市和水:帕托斯市埃斯皮哈拉斯河的河流和环境分析,Paraíba州

The urbanization process over the last 70 years has provided cities with a distance from their relationship with the natural elements that comprise their surroundings and urban formation. Highlights include urban rivers that have mainly been deteriorated and forgotten by the population. Rivers have always been linked to the history and development of cities, but this relationship has led to conflicts over the years, starting a process of degradation that has culminated in deteriorating the relationship between rivers and cities. Based on this, the present work aims to analyze the fluvial and environmental conditions of a stretch of the Espinharas River in Patos city, Paraíba State, pointing out its weaknesses and potential. Based on the results obtained, a framework is proposed with guidelines capable of establishing this connection between the urban and natural environment, based on a tripod formed by the integration of the river with the city, recovery of its waters, and raising the population´s awareness of the importance from the river to the local quality of life. The research uses the hypothetical-deductive method, and its methodological steps are performed in three phases: the first is the literature review; the second, diagnosing the stretch of the river under analysis; and the last step addresses the construction of the framework of the guidelines. Finally, an understanding of the current situation of the stretch of the Espinharas River under analysis and the hypothetical effects of applying all selected guidelines is obtained, thus contributing to the qualification of relationship between the river and cities.

The production of urban space in the contemporary city and its resulting urban phenomena 当代城市空间的产生及其产生的城市现象

The article aims to discuss the production and reproduction of urban space, demonstrating how these socio-spatial dynamics occur and that urban phenomena can occur on consolidated land. Contemporary medium-sized cities undergo growing urbanization and among these occurrences generate segregation, a spreading out, gentrification and witness both land and real estate speculation. Most of these occur as a function of capital or with some kind of intervention by it. It seeks to demonstrate how the production of urban space takes place and which agents are involved in it, in addition to looking at what the relationship between them is: namely capitalist social relations and relations of production. Urban land is a product considered a commodity, and this is the object of a struggle between social classes for access to land. Urban space, considered central and endowed with infrastructure, is, in most cases, appropriated by those who have the greatest amount of capital, leaving the lower social strata with less purchasing power to purchase in peripheral areas often with little or no infrastructure. The methodology used was exploratory with a qualitative approach, with reference to authors with scientific mastery of the subject.

Based both on an observation job occurred from 2018 to 2021 and on informal conversations with mobile agents in José Bonifácio, a municipality in the countryside of São Paulo State, this text seeks to circumscribe a research field and to point out ways for future research on mobility. The text demonstrates how mobility, subjectivity, culture, and urban space work in a small city. We observed how some changes happened in the last decades regarding the ways of moving in this city, which resulted in lifestyle and culture changed, as well. Even without claiming to be definitive, we attempted to understand how the bicycle became the most popular mode of transportation in activity. Historical advantages regarding this mode can be used in order to build a more sustainable city in tune with the new demands of climate change.

Smart Cities: The Loss of the "Aura" and Post-Panoptics in the Age of Digital Control 智慧城市:“光环”的消失和数字控制时代的后泛光学

Urban environments, permeated by a concomitance of internal and external factors, are increasingly subject to a standardization, logically averse to authenticity. This study proposes to conduct an analysis, in the context of smart cities, of the concept of "aura" worked by Walter Benjamin and the liquid surveillance in the form of Zygmunt Bauman's post-panoptic. We sought to identify in urban development strategies and plans, as well as in politics and relations within the city, the destruction of "aura" and the intensification of control and liquid surveillance. At the end, it indicates possible developments of the current paradigms and issues to be investigated by future research in the area.

Appropriation of Public Space: The case of two distinct squares in Cuiabá-MT 公共空间的占用:Cuiabá-MT中两个不同广场的案例

Between 2017 and 2020, the city of Cuiabá-MT carried out a revitalization and construction program for approximately 100 (one hundred) squares. Using it as a temporal and thematic cut, the present study aimed to understand to what extent these squares, through their physical attributes, contributed to their appropriation as a public space. With this intention, the research was placed in a practical nature through a single case study in multiple units of analysis, choosing the city of Cuiabá as a case study, and two squares as distinct units of analysis. Issues such as the meaning of public space and its role in appropriation were addressed in the theoretical review. To this end, an inventory survey of the squares in Cuiabá was carried out before and after the aforementioned intervention program, with subsequent selection of a sample for the two squares. Finally, by carrying out visits to these units, it was observed that the physical attributes and the more centralized insertion in the neighborhoods proved to be appropriation inducers. In addition, the design qualification more suited to the needs of local users revealed higher levels of appropriation, with a greater variety of users.

Cities back to the river: the neglect of urban PPAs in the Cuiabá River Valley Metropolitan Region - RMVRC/MT 城市回归河流:库雅布江流域都市圈城市ppa的忽视——RMVRC/MT

This research studied the process of irregular urban occupations that occurred along the Cuiabá River Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs), as a key to understand its importance for urban sustainability. Its objective was to study the dynamics and socio-environmental impacts resulting from irregular occupations along the banks of the river that cuts through the two largest cities in the Metropolitan Region of the Cuiabá River Valley - RMVRC/MT, the state capital Cuiabá, and Várzea Grande. Considering that this river is responsible for the water supply of both cities, and a Pantanal Mato-Grossense affluent, which have a fundamental relevance for the local and regional ecosystem, it became important to identify the contradictory relationships between socio-environmental issues and the application and surveillance of urban legislation, by mapping the APPs, in order to verify the degradation of the Cuiabá River. The methodology was based on bibliographic, documental and empirical research. The results showed the importance of its continuity in new research, and may also subsidize decision-making processes, formulation of urban and environmental legislation, public policies aimed at socio-environmental protection of vulnerable areas, relevant to improving the quality of life and the environment.

Greenwashing and the Strategy of Real Estate enterprises in the Commercialization of Nature “漂绿”与房地产企业在自然商业化中的策略

This essay integrates continued research, with the objective of analyzing the sustainable certifications and greenwashing practice that are being used to validate the exploitation of nature in the interest of capital. Based on a bibliographical and exploratory research of primary and secondary sources, it is proposed to discuss the phenomenon of the exploitation of the natural good and the ecological discourse by the real estate enterprises, bringing as a case study the MARAEY mega-venture, located in the Environmental Protection Area of the city of Maricá, In the state of Rio de Janeiro. In this context, the relation among legislation, urban policy and the maneuvers carried out by the real estate market with the public authorities and regulatory bodies is discussed.

Based on a bibliographical and exploratory research of primary and secondary sources, it is proposed to discuss the phenomenon of the exploitation of the natural good and the ecological discourse by the real estate enterprises, bringing as a case study the MARAEY mega-venture, located in the Environmental Protection Area of the city of Maricá, In the state of Rio de Janeiro. This article discusses the role of higher education institutions in creating and maintaining innovation ecosystems in cities. The same is justified because innovation is key to the development of smart and sustainable cities, and the Educational Institution is responsible for training professionals able to innovate, thus contributing to the improvement of cities. The work, of a qualitative nature, being the research of the exploratory and descriptive type, was carried out through the strategy of the case study of Smart Space - Environment of Innovation of the Centro Universitário Cidade Verde (UniCV), based in the city of Maringá-PR. As a result, it was identified that the innovation environment promotes several actions to promote and train entrepreneurship and innovation, serving students at different stages of interest in entrepreneurship, such as those curious, with entrepreneurial profiles and entrepreneurs. From the above, we understand that the studied environment contributes to the training of professionals with a keen eye for innovation, who will be able to act within organizations solving problems (intrapreneurship) or opening new businesses. In both cases, these professionals will contribute to local development and also, in the search for solutions for urban development, ratifying the relevance of HEIs in the creation and maintenance of innovation ecosystems in cities.

Conditions of pandemic social isolation in Popular Housing 大众住房的流行病社会隔离状况

In the current global context, where the population is facing Covid-19, a highly contagious respiratory disease, the main recommendation to avoid the transmission of the virus is to continue isolating oneself at home. Thus, every residence needs to have the necessary conditions to carry out social isolation and the initial treatment of Covid-19 in coordination with the family's daily activities. The issue is that not all housing can meet these new needs. The research aims to analyze whether the types of housing in the Gimenes Housing Complex, located in the city of Penápolis-SP, meet the socio-physical needs of residents in times of the Covid-19 pandemic. The method applied was the dialogic architecture, which relates the object of study (types of housing) to its context (Gimenes Housing Complex and Gimenes Neighbourhood), according to the dimensions of housing construction and users' perception. A questionnaire was applied to families, the results of which indicated that the types of housing at Gimenes do not meet most of the parameters of social isolation indicated by the Ministry of Health.

The Master Plan for Urban Transport and Mobility of Sorocaba - SP: challenges for the implementation of guidelines aimed at sustainable transport modes 索罗卡巴城市交通和机动性总体规划- SP:实施可持续交通模式指导方针的挑战

The last decades have been marked by profound economic and social changes, which have significantly altered the population's way of life. Among the main effects of urban agglomerations are changes in the transportation and mobility system that still represent a challenge for municipal management, especially in medium and large cities. As of Federal Law No. 12,587, dated January 3, 2012, all Brazilian municipalities with a population of over 20,000 inhabitants were required to prepare an urban mobility plan. In Sorocaba, the proposals directed to the requirements of this legislation are in the Urban Transportation and Mobility Master Plan (acronym in Portuguese, PDTUM), prepared between 2012 and 2013 and implemented in 2016. Aiming to analyze urban mobility in Sorocaba, this article brings a descriptive and partial evaluation of the guidelines contained in the PDTUM document related to non-motorized transport and public transport and its implementation in the municipality. For this analysis, some indicators of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Index (IMUS), developed by Costa (2008) are used, consisting of an important tool for mobility management and public policy formulation from the perspective of sustainability. Regarding the actions planned and already adopted in the municipality, some show efficiency and a need for expansion so that the improvements can be increasingly comprehensive. The results contribute to tracing a more precise scenario for mobility in Sorocaba and can be useful for other cities whose plans are under development or revision.
