Nowadays, in case of an emergency, and because of the more complicated interiors of buildings, people may not be able to easily find a safe escape route within limited time. An immediately available evacuation guide can improve safety in public buildings. In this research paper, we propose an intelligent guidance system that is a combination of image recognition and Digital Signage for conducting people to safety. This system applies WSN and RFID to collect environmental information, IP cameras to monitor group movements and uses an evaluation algorithm to circulate a safe route using environmental information obtained from the system and then smartphones and digital signage to guide people to the exit. Instruction guides are displayed using the digital signage. The execution time of the proposed system was also evaluated: the overall processing time for a complex space was less than 1.1 second showing the superior efficiency of the proposed system compared with previous systems.

E-learning involves the use of information and communication technology to teach and deliver learning materials and it's becoming increasingly important in the higher education in Sri Lanka. Learners' readiness to use the University e-Learning system enhances the learning efficiency and opportunities. University e-learning system provides more specific learning materials of required quality. A survey was conducted to investigate the critical factors affecting learners' readiness in using the e-Learning system. By using factor analysis the variables were classified into individual learners' study habits, learners' learning preferences, perception and willingness towards electronic learning and e-Learning readiness factors. Results show that the learners' willingness is significant when participating in e-learning system activities. Generally, learners use World Wide Web to improve their learning experience as a valuable source of information. The results showed that in order to adopt to the e-learning system, the most important factors are e-learning confidence and e-learning training not the e-learning readiness.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of polling technologies integrating with strategies on students' academic performance and related brainwave signals. The participants were 34 students who registered in the educational research methodology course in a national university in Taiwan. The pre-class quiz, in-class quiz, brainwave of attention levels, open-ended questionnaires, and the 20-minute structured interview were used in this study. This study was conducted over a period of three weeks. Over the three weeks, the teacher conducted “three types of polling activities.” Week 1 was devoted to individual clicker polling, Week 2 to group polling on tablets, and Week 3 to group polling on tablets with a competition game. The results showed that polling systems help promote learning outcomes, and if a team was given an opportunity to discuss a topic after it was announced, this would help to increase attention levels. This study suggests that future researchers could design team polling activities in which students can take turns acting as a group leader in order to help build a team consensus and to avoid passive group member participation.
