MediAssistEdge — Simplifying diagnosis procedure & improving patient doctor connectivity MediAssistEdge -简化诊断程序和改善患者与医生的联系

Medical Decision is very specialized and challenging job. This is due to the fact that certain decisions may be wrong due to misdiagnosis. This wrong diagnosis decision may risk life of a person. It becomes necessary to have a second opinion in such cases. Also availability of efficient doctors to conduct correct diagnosis in a country having large population is certainly less. Considering these facts, MediAssistEdge system aims at conducting diagnosis remotely as well as providing basic diagnosis of diseases which does not require prescription. MediAssistEdge system consists of two subsystems to carry out the two mentioned goals. The first goal is attained by MediConnect system which provides an interface wherein patient and doctor or doctors around the world can be connected remotely. The ideology of remote diagnosis in true sense is made possible with the help of the two assisting hardware devices which comes integrated with the system. The second goal of diagnosis of disease is implemented by the DocBot subsystem which is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) engine to interact with patients. It has an interface wherein a representation of a doctor will be present with a reply box. The user interacts with the artificial intelligence engine like normal chatting. Based on the inputs from the user the AI engine will provide diagnosis. The doctors will also be able to teach the AI engine. The patients that require second level diagnosis will be referred to the hospital.

Rethink development face to three pressing demands 面对三个迫切需求,反思发展

This essay is an attempt to reframe discussion on development propounding the need to attend to three sources of new perspectives, namely culture, social dynamics and environment. Such new perspectives are accessible only if one adopts a reflexive approach, in order to integrate social inclusiveness and analytical demands. One begins by commenting on the present state of partial frustration of the notion of classical economic development, by the emergence of the aforementioned demands, opening the agenda for a propositive discurse on development as a plural construction. Then, one offers not a concept but an agenda, envisioned as a somewhat tense, but also creative balance between culture, developed as decolonial approach to the notion of territorial lived experience; social dynamics as a reversal of the conception of development from social points of view, proposing poorness as a resource to rethink desiderata of consumption and/or systems of symbolic values; finally, one proposes to rethink environment not as a problem, but as a source of new models, embedded in the discussion of ethnosustainability and ethnodevelopment.

One wheel motorized skateboard: The sustainable skateboarding 单轮电动滑板:可持续滑板

This paper presents a self-balancing skateboard that runs on battery power. The equipment senses human body movements and accordingly accelerates or decelerates, depending on the orientation of the human body. The one wheel motorized skateboard would follow the motion, that of a straight tine path. However, depending on the direction given by the rider, the skateboard would stop its translatory motion and follow the direction of the rider. Since it runs on battery power and doesn't cause any pollution it is sustainable to environment.

Observing morphological changes in natural land form through archived satellite images: Case study of the Thane Creek 利用卫星图像观测自然地貌的形态变化:以塔恩河为例

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), located to the east of the Arabian Sea, experiences tropical climate with annual rainfall of over 250 cms. Geographically, the Thane Creek separates the island city from the mainland comprising low-lying marshy lands, and is lined by north-south trending hills on either side. The Creek has historically served as the natural course for rainwater discharge from the adjoining hilly terrain. Owing to its peculiar topography, the city has a distinct linear morphology wherein the habitable area along the Creek lies between the water front and these hills. This has necessitated that creation of new firm land on both its shores would either require cutting of foothills and/ or filling of erstwhile low lying marshy lands, both having fragile ecology of their own. This study highlights the significance of satellite image classification and change detection to observe the effect of rapid development and expansion of urban areas over time in the MMR on the morphology of the Creek and its adjoining wetlands. Change-detection analysis performed on classified time-series Landsat images, using Object Based Image Analysis (OBIA), reveal gradual change in the profile of the Thane Creek over the years. It is observed that the Creek width has reduced on the western shore, due to the siltation caused by anthropogenic intervention, thereby affecting the adjoining wetland ecosystems. The observations provide useful inputs for the stakeholders, to foster a comprehensive action plan to ensure sustainable futures for both mankind and biodiversity.

A low powered auto-titrator using pH endpoint detection 使用pH值端点检测的低功率自动滴定仪

Titration is a method used in laboratories to determine the concentration of a titrate. The auto-titrator is a commercial apparatus that carries out the titration operation automatically and provides the equivalence point data. The Automated titrator follows a defined sequence of operations which are repeated several times until the endpoint of the titration reaction is reached (titration cycle). Commercially available auto-titrators are typically expensive and cost approximately Rs.60,000 and above. A miniaturised micro-volume autotitrator with potentiometric end-point detection is proposed. The method is based on on-line potentiometric titration of the acids with various bases. The main purpose of the project is to develop a low powered system with sufficient accuracy for educational applications at a cost of about one-fifth of the commercially available systems.

Design and implementation of water environment monitoring system using GSM technology 采用GSM技术的水环境监测系统的设计与实现

A dam is a barrier that impounds water or underground streams. Dams generally serve the primary purpose of retaining water, while other structures such as floodgates or levees (also known as dikes) are used to manage or prevent water flow into specific land regions. When the water level in the dam exceeds certain level, the dam is in danger of collapsing. To avoid this, we should constantly monitor dam water level so that dam structure does not give way under the pressure of the water. This can be done by controlling the flood gates if the water level exceeds certain limits. Also water being a scarce resource, it becomes necessary to preserve and maintain its quality. In order to do so, various water related parameters should be under constant check and evaluation. The main water pollution related parameters that need to be monitored are Temperature, Turbidity and pH. This paper explains the theoretical aspects related to the project we are doing and the details regarding the demonstration of the automation of dam gates.

Electronic guidance system for the visually impaired — A framework 视障人士电子导航系统。框架

Ability to move confidently is critical in maximizing independence, regardless of age and with or without existence of other disabilities. Orientation and mobility helps both children and adults to develop and master the concepts and skills which are necessary to move safely and efficiently within their world with confidence. Mobility for the visually impaired is always a great problem. With over 39 million visually impaired people worldwide, the need for one assistive device that allows a user to navigate freely is crucial. The traditional and oldest mobility aids for persons with visual impairments are the walking cane and guide dogs. The important drawbacks of these aids are the requirement of necessary skills, range of motion and little information being conveyed. A stick requires the person to come into close proximity with the obstacle to determine its location. This paper proposes the design and architecture of a new concept of Smart Electronic Guiding Stick for the visually impaired. The proposed combination of various working units makes a realtime system in which guidance will be provided in the form of audio instructions through the headset for both indoor and outdoor environments making navigation more safe and secure.

Orientation and mobility helps both children and adults to develop and master the concepts and skills which are necessary to move safely and efficiently within their world with confidence. Mobility for the visually impaired is always a great problem. With over 39 million visually impaired people worldwide, the need for one assistive device that allows a user to navigate freely is crucial. The traditional and oldest mobility aids for persons with visual impairments are the walking cane and guide dogs. The important drawbacks of these aids are the requirement of necessary skills, range of motion and little information being conveyed. A stick requires the person to come into close proximity with the obstacle to determine its location. This paper proposes the design and architecture of a new concept of Smart Electronic Guiding Stick for the visually impaired. Detection of adverse drug events through data mining techniques 通过数据挖掘技术检测药物不良事件

Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) is a major problem faced by medical practitioners with respect to drug safety. A number of Pre-marketing trials have fail to detect adverse drug reactions, instead, they are only observed after long term post-marketing surveillance of drug usage. The detection of Adverse Drug Reactions should be done as early as possible for the progress and safety of pharmaceutical industry. The increase in the number of adverse events and development of mining technology have motivated development of statistical and data mining methods for ADRs detection. These methods are inconvenient and tedious for users and exploration processes are time consuming. There are particular health units which provide access to electronic records of patients Aggregating and integrating electronic health records from multiple sources is rather challenging. The manual addition of data about drugs, adverse drug reactions, disease reported in scientific literature has been used to create tables as data collection technique In this work, Proportional Reporting Ratio (PRR) have been used, in combination with an estimator of the precision of point estimate such as the Chi-square test, to mine the different associations between drugs and adverse reactions. This work proposes a system for the detection of ADRs allowing an interactive discovery of associations between drugs and symptoms, called a drug-ADR association which has been further developed using other factors of interest to the user, such as demographic information, the current analysis has been done on 5000 records.

Groundwater assessment and feasibility of artificial recharge structures on over-exploited miniwatersheds of MR-12, osmanabad district osmanabad地区MR-12过度开发小流域地下水评价及人工补给结构的可行性

The assessment stage is one of the first elements of effective water resources management. A miniwatershed-based assessment provides an evaluation of conditions and trends in the watershed in a larger scale. It assists in the development, prioritization, and execution of an overall watershed management program. The increased use of groundwater is showing negative impact on the availability of groundwater. The groundwater exploitation is surpassing the recharge to fulfill the demands of stakeholders. Therefore, the assessment of groundwater potential to tap the groundwater and suitable artificial recharge structures to increase the groundwater recharge is significant. MR-12 watershed comprises two miniwatersheds that are over-exploited and groundwater occurred in unconfined / semi confined shallow aquifer. In the present study, the artificial recharge structures were propose to fulfill the demand of groundwater and to increase the availability of groundwater in sustained way. The detailed hydrogeological surveys carried out for assessment of the groundwater. The overlay analyses of geomorphology and drainage layer carried out by using GIS platform for identification of suitable sites for artificial recharge structures. The present study reports that, the integrated remote sensing and GIS techniques are the most suitable method for groundwater assessment and feasibility of artificial recharge zone in basaltic terrain.

Visual surveillance using absolute difference motion detection 使用绝对差分运动检测的视觉监视

Surveillance is the monitoring of the behavior, activities, or other changing information, usually of people for the purpose of influencing, managing, directing, or protecting them. As security is becoming the primary concern of society and hence having a security system is becoming a big requirement. Video surveillance plays a vital role in security systems. This paper describes the ability to recognise objects and humans, to describe their actions and interactions from information acquired by sensors using absolute difference motion detection technique. Real-time implementation is achieved by using a Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) modem for SMS (Short Message Service) notification. The ablity of tracking and recognition of the visual device was implemented using OpenCVTM for displaying an output. The detected objects motion is being captured and stored in HDD.
