This study examined psychosocial impact of Covid-19 on the achievement of secondary school adolescents with hearing disabilities in English Language in Lagos State. A survey research design was employed with population of hearing-impaired adolescents. A sample of hundred adolescents with hearing impairment was selected for the study using purposive sampling technique to select the participants and simple random sampling to select four schools practicing inclusion. The instruments for data collection were ELAT (English Language Achievement Test) and Psychosocial Scale (PSS) with reliabilities of 0.69 and 0.79 respectively. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and Multiple Regression were used to analyse data collected. The hypotheses formulated were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the four hypotheses tested revealed that aggression, self-esteem and communication have positive relationship to the academic achievement of the hearing-impaired adolescents in English Language as a result of Covid-19. Further findings discovered that there was a combined effect of aggression, self-esteem and communication on academic performance of secondary school adolescents with hearing impairment in English Language. Therefore, teaching methodology should be more of cooperative learning approach to motivate sense of belongings and friendliness of adolescents with hearing impairment in Lagos State.
数据收集工具为ELAT(英语语言成就测试)和PSS(心理社会量表),信度分别为0.69和0.79。

English as the Medium of instruction (MOI) in Indonesia has experienced up and down periods, thus affecting the teachers’ use of code-switching and code-mixing strategies. This article reports on English teachers’ perceived usefulness of English as the Medium of Instruction (MOI) in classrooms. Participants of the study are English teachers from various school levels in one province in Eastern Indonesia. This exploratory case study used a self-assessment survey as the single instrument. As a result, teachers have a positive perception toward English as the Medium of Instruction (MOI) as they believe it could improve students’ proficiency. However, some are hesitant and would rather have classes taught in a blend of their native language and English. This study implies that teachers should consider elements of high-quality instructions. This study suggests developing an institutional ELT policy to infuse MOI into classroom pedagogy.

For most EFL students, writing in English is a boring and challenging skill; therefore, creative and attractive media such as bark painting is needed. Bark painting is one of the cultural heritages that has not been valued and recognized by Papuan young people as a culturally important medium. This study aimed at exploring the ways of engaging students to write procedure texts using bark painting and finding the importance of infusing bark painting in teaching procedure text.  This descriptive-qualitative study took place in Jayapura, Papua, Indonesia, between January and March 2021. There were students of the Social Science program, 5 Senior High School teachers, 3 tribal chiefs, 3 elders, 3 bark painters, and 2 cultural practitioners involved as the participants. The data were collected by using observation, interview, and FGD (Focus Group Discussion). From the data analysis, the study found that by engaging the students in learning writing procedure text using bark painting, they could effectively and enthusiastically learn the social functions, generic structure, and linguistic features of writing procedure text with a media which is culturally close to them, and they could learn and indirectly disseminate cultural heritage as well as learn the good character of the elders.

Publishing research articles (RAs) in international journals (IJs) has been considered increasingly crucial by developing countries including Indonesia. For the Indonesian Government, publishing RAs in international journals is important to increase its competitive power academically as Indonesian universities are entering a global competition to attract students. Therefore, publishing RAs in international journals is becoming more and more important, e.g. for promotion, especially at senior levels. This study reports on the second and most widespread national-level survey of a three-year project funded by the former Indonesian Government through its Ministry of Research and Higher Education (MRHE). The central question is, "What are the key factors contributing to their lack of international research publications making the number low compared to smaller nations such as Thailand (before 2017)".This article reports the results of the second survey, with a much bigger population sample from many more universities located in many more different regions covering all the major islands in Indonesia compared to the first survey reported in our previous article. The bigger size of data is important based on the premise that the broader and the more diverse the information sources, the more comprehensive the information will be and the better understanding we gain. Some of the findings support the past results, but some contradict them.

It is much easier to access literature now than before because of the existence of the internet where students can download soft files of articles or written works from journals or particular websites. However, postgraduate students especially those studying at a teacher education program should not plagiarize because they become role models for their students and should present noble behaviour for their students to be. This study investigated how much undergraduate and postgraduate students in English education are familiar with plagiarisms, how their attitudes toward plagiarism are and what may encourage them to plagiarize. The data for this study came from 151 students involved in this study by filling in the questionnaire and 6 of them were randomly selected for interview. The results show that in general there is no important difference between undergraduate and postgraduate students on their knowledge, attitude, and experiences of dishonesty and plagiarism although there are some differences in the percentage of the two groups of students on several items asked in the questionnaire. This implies that the level of education does not affect university students of their knowledge, attitude and experience on dishonesty and plagiarism. Therefore, it is recommended that specific training programs on academic writing which include moral ethic, knowledge on dishonesty and plagiarism and their practical samples in written texts to combat dishonesty and plagiarism among university students at any level.

Learning English at Bengkulu University before and after the Covid-19 pandemic showed a very different process. Face-to-face learning has turned into a learning process called Learning from Home. This study aims to describe the perceptions of Bengkulu University students from the Non-English Department and describe the problems they face in participating in online learning of MKU Bahasa Inggris. The data collected by using a Google Form questionnaire were described in a qualitative descriptive method. The results showed that students' perceptions of learning English online during the covid-19 pandemic had a positive perception. This can be seen from the percentage of the data based on several dimensions, namely the dimensions of performance expectations, learning atmosphere, and student interaction. With this positive perception result, it is hoped that the implementation of the Bengkulu University Rector's Decree No. 25 of 2020 regarding certain TOEFL score requirements for UNIB graduates can be achieved. The process of learning English using an online video conference platform at Universitas Bengkulu is generally well implemented so that it can support the implementation and achievement of the Rector's Decree in the future if the pandemic is still ongoing. Furthermore, most of the problems faced by the students in online learning are not in understanding the subject matter or in carrying out activities and doing the given assignments but in technical barriers, such as signal and electrical problems.

This study aims to explore the reception of Wuthering Heights in China by conducting comparative study on its three Chinese-translated versions, which were published in three periods, to examine how these versions have been translated, published, and disseminated. This study applies historical and archival research methods, close reading methods and comparative methods. The researchers collected the data from the original text of Wuthering Heights and its three Chinese-translated versions, relevant monographs, academic papers and information about the three versions. The academic papers were collected from China National Knowledge Infrastructure, the most authoritative database in China for scientific publications. The information of the three versions was obtained from the Chinese online Chaoxing database, which is the most extensive database that provides information on books based on big data. First, the researchers explored the translation journey of Wuthering Heights in China and the information of its three representative versions that appeared at different times. Second, the researchers investigated the publication route of the three versions, concentrating on the information of the publishing houses, the formats of the three versions and the reprint edition. Third, the researchers analyzed the dissemination of the three versions in the Chinese literary field, focusing on the library collections, citations and academic circle comments. This paper concludes that the translation and circulation process of the three versions promoted the dissemination of Wuthering Heights in China to a great extent. The reasons for the extensive dissemination of Wuthering Heights in China are its excellent charm, translators and scholars’ efforts and Chinese readers’ passion for it.
