EVALUATION OF SUNFLOWER, FLAXSEED AND OLIVE OILS IN TERMS OF CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND THEIR PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES 评估葵花籽油、亚麻籽油和橄榄油的化学成分及其理化性质

: Fats are an essential component of human diets and their types greatly affects public health, and some of them may cause many diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and fatty liver. Since sunflower, flaxseed and olive oils are among the oils commonly used in nutrition in Egypt, the study was conducted to compare the components of these oils and their nutritional value to evaluate them. The fatty acid components of these oils were estimated, and the sterols present in each oil were estimated using the Gas Chromatograph (GC). The physical and chemical properties of each oil were also estimated (specific gravity, refractive index, color, oxidative stability index, saponification value, iodine value, acid value, ester value, peroxide value and % unsaponifiable matter). Linoleic acid was the largest component in sunflower oil (53.33%); oleic acid was the largest one in olive oil (66.65%), while alpha-linolenic acid was the largest component in flaxseed oil (55.34%). For sterols, β-sitosterol (44.86%), stigmasterol (20.33%), campesterol (11.68%), isofucosterol (9.54%) components were the largest in sunflower oil. Squalene (64.14%) and β-sitosterol (16.78%) were the largest sterols in olive oil. While β-sitosterol (28.24%), campesterol (16.37%) and cycloartenyl acetate (12.42%) were the largest sterols in flaxseed oil. The results clearly show a high content of sunflower oil of omega-6 fatty acids, while flaxseed oil was distinguished by its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, and olive oil was the highest in its content of omega-9 fatty acids. Therefore, these oils are well suited for use in nutrition, and more studies are needed to reach the best ratios of the mixture of these oils in biological experiments.

CYTOTOXIC EFFECTS OF PORTULACA OLERACEA AND CICHORIUM INTYBUS SEEDS ON LAND SNAIL MONACHA CARTUSIANA 马齿苋和菊苣种子对田螺的细胞毒作用

: The present study was designed to investigate the chemical composition, determination the phenolic contents in plant extracts and studying the cytotoxic effects of plant seeds against land snail. The plants under study were Portulaca oleracea and Cichorium intybus. Our results could be summarized that Portulaca oleracea (purslane) contain ash, fiber, crude lipids, protein and carbohydrate 2.15, 33, 26, 11.6 and 60.25 % and Cichorium intybus (chicory) contain 1.65, 35, 19, 10 and 69.35 % respectively. Purslane contain 13 phenolic compounds, meanwhile chicory contain 16 phenolic compounds, the main compounds in purslane seed extract were coumaric acid (129.62 μg/ml) and coffeic acid (108.98 μg/ml) and main compounds in chicory were naringenin (3631.04 μg/ml) and chlorogenic acid (2395.18 μg/ml). Results showed cytotoxic effects of extracts of purslane and chicory seeds on the land snails iv stage, whereas increases the extract concentration from (25 to 100%) led to decrease the egg ms/snail, egg no./ms, egg no. / snail, Inc. period (day) and hatch rate.

Detection of some Trichoderma genes for biodegradation of cellulosic wastes 纤维素废弃物生物降解木霉基因的检测

: Many Trichoderma aggregate species are of economic interest because of their ability to produce hydrolytic enzymes. In this study , twenty isolates of Trichoderma were obtained from lignocellulosic agriculture wastes-rich soil collected from different Egyptian locations (Sadat, Tala, Abo Hamad, Belbeis, Zagazig, Mansoura, Belqas, Kafer-Elshikh, Bella, Tanta, Borg El Arab, Banha, Kafr Shoker, Qalyoub, Shebien Elqanater, Damanhur, Abu al-Matamir, Damietta, Kafr al-Battikh, and Kafr Saad). These isolates were first identified morphologically based on conidiophore branching type and conidium morphology. Seven isolates were found to belong to Trichoderma Viride : TM4, TM5, TM9, TM13, TM16, TM29, and TM42; four isolates classified as Trichoderma Koningii : TM6, TM8, TM18 and, TM19 and nine isolates were identified as Trichoderma Harizianum : TM23, TM30, TM31, TM33, TM35, TM36, TM41, TM44, and TM45. Biochemical and technological studies on green tea 绿茶的生化及工艺研究

: The present study was designed to investigate the phenolic contents in green tea, to evaluate the antioxidant activity of plant extract and to studying the potential effect of green tea extract to increase protective effect against oxidative stress, and study the effect of plant on chemical properties of oil used in cupcakes. The main component of such green tea was methyle gallate, the extracts under study was found to have antioxidant activity in vitro and in vivo, green tea methanol extract recorded 0.645 at concentration of 100µg/ml in reducing power assay. In DPPH assay green tea methanol extract recorded inhibition percent of 90.4% at concentration of 100 µg/ml comparing with ascorbic acid 97.7%. Green tea have biological effect on liver functions (ALT and AST activity, ALB and TP levels), kidney functions (urea and creatinine levels) and antioxidant markers (CAT activity and MDA level). The treatment with green tea extracts led to reduction in ALT and AST activity, and an increase in total protein and albumin levels accompanied by reduction in creatinine and urea levels, meanwhile treatment with H 2 O 2 caused an elevation in CAT activity and MDA level but treatment with green tea extracts affected this elevation, also green tea effected on food technology during storage period of cupcakes and effected on the acid value and peroxide value of cupcakes oil under study.

Aly-Aldin","doi":"10.21608/mjab.2023.202737.1007","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21608/mjab.2023.202737.1007","url":null,"abstract":": The present study was designed to investigate the phenolic contents in green tea, to evaluate the antioxidant activity of plant extract and to studying the potential effect of green tea extract to increase protective effect against oxidative stress, and study the effect of plant on chemical properties of oil used in cupcakes. The main component of such green tea was methyle gallate, the extracts under study was found to have antioxidant activity in vitro and in vivo, green tea methanol extract recorded 0.645 at concentration of 100µg/ml in reducing power assay. In DPPH assay green tea methanol extract recorded inhibition percent of 90.4% at concentration of 100 µg/ml comparing with ascorbic acid 97.7%. Green tea have biological effect on liver functions (ALT and AST activity, ALB and TP levels), kidney functions (urea and creatinine levels) and antioxidant markers (CAT activity and MDA level). A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN THREE ESSENTIAL OILS IN TERMS OF THEIR CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY 三种精油化学成分及抗氧化活性之比较研究

: The problem of oxidation and free radicals is one of the factors that are very dangerous to human health, which requires searching for safe natural compounds to be included in the diet and work to combat free radicals. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant effect of essential oils of basil, thyme and lemongrass by two different methods (FRAP and DPPH) as well as to identify the active ingredients of each oil by GCMS. The results of the fractionation on the GCMS showed that the main components of the essential oils were as follows: basil (L-linalool 59.02% and 1,8-cineole 9.52%), thyme (Thymol 48.06%and p-cymene 38.57%), and lemongrass (Geranial 47.59% and neral 36.27%). In the FRAP method, essential oil of basil was the strongest as an antioxidant (2.35± 0.61 mMol Fe +2 /g), followed by essential oil of thyme (1.96± 0.42 mMol Fe +2 /g), followed by essential oil of lemongrass by a large margin (0.93± 0.21 mMol Fe +2 /g). Whereas, when studying the antioxidant activity by the DPPH method, the results showed through comparison with IC 50 values that, basil essential oil was the strongest antioxidant (IC 50 =144.78 ± 7.19 μg/ml), followed by lemongrass essential oil (IC 50 =170.05 ± 6.97 μg/ml) and finally thyme essential oil (IC 50 =183.45 ± 7.19 μg/ml), w ith a slight difference. The results clearly indicated that the essential oil of basil was the best as an antioxidant compared to the essential oils of lemongrass and thyme in both methods used for the determination of antioxidant activity in vitro (FRAP and DPPH); this makes it a promising source of natural antioxidants that can be used in diets.
