OBJECTIVE: To date, level of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms experienced from university students during the peak of Covid-19 in Italy is until under investigated. Therefore, this study aims to describe PTDS related to the Covid-19 outbreak among Italian university students. METHODS: A multicentre cross-sectional study was conducted, involving convenience and consecutive sampling of Italians University students. A self-reported web questionnaire on the on-line platform Qualtrics®, was used to data collect, in March and April 2020. RESULTS: Overall, 720 Italian University students participated to this study. The sample are major male (80.7%) with an average mean of 23.52 years. The results of data analysis highlighted the important level of PTSD experienced from Italian University students during the Covid-19 outbreak, especially by female students that presented higher levels of PTSD. Additionally, no differences were found between students in healthcare field and not in healthcare field. CONCLUSION: The results showed, for the first time, the level of PTSD experienced by Italian Universities students, triggered by the psychological consequences of the health emergency Covid-19. This situation requires public health interventions aimed at preventing the early development of such mental disorders, which negatively affect the growth of future generations.

OBJECTIVE: To elucidate the effect of oral L-glutamine (Gln) supplementation, associated or not with the regular practice of combined-exercise training (CET), on glycemic and lipid profile and systemic inflammatory status in elderly subjects. METHODS: 84 elderly subjects, non-practitioners (NP, n=31) and practitioners of CET (n=53), were supplemented with Gln [0.3g/kg of weight plus 10g of maltodextrin, groups: NP-Gln (n=14), and CET-Gln (n=26)], or placebo [10g of maltodextrin, groups: NP-PL (n=17), and CET-PL (n=27)]. Anthropometric and physical data were assessed. Blood sampling was collected pre and post-30 days of supplementation. RESULTS: NP subgroups showed higher BMI and serum IL-6 levels than CET subgroups before and post-supplementation. Higher serum levels of IL-10 with lower IL-6 and IL-6/IL-10 ratio were observed post-supplementation in the CET-Gln subgroup than pre-supplementation. When the volunteers were separated according to their BMI, higher IL-6 levels were found in all obese (OB) subgroups than in the adequate weight (AW) subgroups before supplementation. This difference was not maintained between OB CET-Gln and AW CET-Gln subgroups post-supplementation. Higher levels of IL-10 with lower IL-6 and IL-6/IL-10 ratio were found in the OB CET-Gln subgroup post-supplementation than pre-supplementation. No differences were found in the glycemic and lipid profile. CONCLUSION: Oral Gln supplementation when associated with the regular practice of CET can modulate the systemic inflammatory status, especially in obese elderly subjects.

OBJECTIVE: Identify the prevalence of urinary incontinence (UI) and perception of impact on quality of life in institutionalized elderly. METODHS: Observational, descriptive study, with a qualitative approach carried out through data collection, with the application of a questionnaire composed of Subject Characterization and application of the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire - Short Form (ICIQ-SF). Sample of 37 elderly people aged 60 or over, integrated mental and cognitive health and residents of Long-Term Care Institutions in the South Zone of the city of São Paulo. The data were submitted to descriptive analysis. RESULTS: The average age of the elderly was 80 years, 33 women and 4 men. Of these, UI complaints are present in 26 elderly people (22 women and 4 men), reinforcing that UI is present in both sexes. In the ICIQ_SF score, it is observed that urinary loss compromises the quality of life of most of those who report this symptom (n = 17). CONCLUSION: A high prevalence of Urinary Incontinence was found in institutionalized elderly people with severe impairment in the subjects' quality of life.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to assess, late, the functionality of patients undergoing surgery to repair the rotator cuff. METHODS: Cross-sectional observational study performed at the UNISA Orthopedics and Rheumatology clinic, approved by the ethics committee followed by CAAE 07824918.0.0000.0081. The sample consisted of individuals who underwent rotator cuff repair for at least two years and who have already undergone postoperative rehabilitation. For the evaluation, a specific self-report questionnaire was applied to assess rotator cuff dysfunctions, the WORC, and the FIT-HaNSA test, a functional test that consists of performing 3 tasks that require the elevation of the upper limb. RESULTS: A convenience sample of 9 individuals participated in this study, of both genders (5 men and 4 women) with a mean age of 54.1 years (± 3.4 years). The results in all the tasks of the FIT-HaNSA test, showed a greater functional deficit in the operated limb compared to the contralateral limb. In the WORC questionnaire, the sample subjects showed better scores as the post-surgical time increased. CONCLUSION: Although sample participants demonstrate better results in WORC over time, in the functionality test it was observed that patients undergoing rotator cuff repair have a long-term deficit in functionality, even after undergoing rehabilitation.

OBJECTIVE: Explore harm reduction and how the psychologist can act in contexts involving alcohol and other drugs. METHODS: This is a bibliographic review through an exploratory study of scientific literature, which had as sources, books and articles, related to harm reduction, drug use, therapeutic communities, social service, in Portuguese and Spanish, published in 1999 to 2017. RESULTS: Harm reduction promotes the quality of life of the subject who uses psychoactive substances, for emotional, biological or social reasons. Bearing in mind that psychology and an action focused on the subject's care and autonomy, it makes the individual responsible for his choices, being the psychoactive substances, one of them. And in this case, harm reduction, as a health strategy, is a way for drug users to continue their use in a healthy way, free from prejudice and stigma. CONCLUSION: The different approaches and contexts in which the psychologist's role in harm reduction can always be found considers the creation of bonds, de-stigmatization, empathy and acceptance.

OBJECTIVE: Hypertension (AH) is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and health education associated with educational technology can be used to improve adherence behavior. To evaluate the influence of educational strategy in an individual guidance program associating educational technology in the virtual learning environment (VLE) in the Distance Learning (DL) modality for hypertensive patients to be promoted by nurses and to verify the effect of the white coat and the quality of life in patients at a state in São Paulo. METHODS: Randomized clinical study with AVA Group (study group, 10 patients) and Control Group (16 patients). Both groups participated in six consultations with the nurse during 120 days with intervals of 20 days. At the beginning of the study (randomization) and at the end, the following instruments were applied: Morisky test and WHOQOL and Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) was performed. Only the study group had remote access to the VLE, consisting of six specific educational modules, with release at each meeting. RESULTS: There was no statistical significance between the two groups regarding sociodemographic and hemodynamic variables. There was statistical significance at the end of the study between the groups in the Morisky Test (p = 0.001) and in the WHOQOL Social Domain 3 (p = 0.001) favorable to the AVA Group. As for the effect of the white coat, there was no reduction in the phenomenon at the end of the study. CONCLUSION: The strategy promoted an improvement in adherence behavior in the AVA Group.

OBJECTIVE: To characterize the epidemiological profile of AVB and to identify prognostic factors of clinical complications of infants admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). METHODS: Prospective cohort study of 61 infants with a clinical diagnosis of AVB admitted to the PICU from June/2016 to July/2017. All infants were followed up during the hospitalization period for clinical and laboratory data collection. In addition, it was carried out an interview with the mothers or legal guardians to obtain socioeconomic information and morbid antecedents. RESULTS: Mean age was 6.9 months, the length of PICU stay was 8.4 days, the prematurity rate was 27.9%, 62.7% presented anemia, and the presence of household smoking 56.7%. Pneumonia (34.4%) and atelectasis (26.2%) were the most prevalent clinical complications. In addition, pneumonia was associated with hospitalization time longer than seven days (OR=3.91, p=0.020), severe dyspnea on admission (OR=3.75, p=0.020), and thinness (OR=3.54, p=0.040). None associations were observed for atelectasis. CONCLUSION: The epidemiological data presented in this study can be applied to the improvement of actions targeting ABV control actions in infants, not only by the identification of the prognostic factors associated with pneumonia but also especially by the necessity to provide greater attention and care to infants with AVB who are thinness and present severe dyspnea on admission to the PICU.

OBJECTIVE: Visceral leishmaniasis is caused by Leishmania infantum. In the state of São Paulo, this zoonosis is expanding to urban areas and the incidence of human disease is related to canine infection. Herein, we performed a serological and molecular diagnosis on 152 dogs (Canis familiaris) from the Grajau and Ilha do Bororé neighborhoods, in the extreme south of the São Paulo municipality, Brazil. METHODS: We observe the prevalence of L. infantum in these animals that are identified as the main reservoirs of the etiologic agent of visceral leishmaniasis. RESULTS: Serological tests showed a low positivity rate, while the molecular tests showed positive animals at 3.94% and 0.65% for the Leishmania infantum L-like cathepsin and ITS of ribosomal gene, respectively. CONCLUSION: Molecular diagnosis of 3.94% positivity suggesting the introduction of L. infantum in this locality of São Paulo, which still preserves 80% of the Atlantic Forest. Our data point to the need for effective control of infected dogs to prevent the spread of visceral leishmaniasis in humans.

OBJECTIVE: To describe the meanings of the Pap smear for health students. METHODS: Descriptive study, qualitative approach, with 45 students from the health area of a Higher Education Institution, in the Northeast of Brazil. Data were collected in 2017, by means of interviews, processed in the IRaMuTeQ software, and pushed by the Descending Hierarchical Classification. RESULTS: The students recognize that the education in health is the best strategy to prevent cervical cancer, as it is an essential tool in primary care and must be performed by health professionals. CONCLUSION: The meanings found by the students revealed a concern with their role in the Pap smear and, therefore, considers it very important to improve their knowledge in this area so that they can provide quality care to women seeking to prevent cervical cancer.
