Mitigation of chromatic dispersion electronically in a coherent optical communication system 相干光通信系统中色散的电子缓解

High speed optical fiber transmission performance is severely degraded due to chromatic dispersion in the fiber. Contrary to conventional dispersion compensation techniques by dispersion compensated fiber, in this work electronic compensation techniques are investigated to mitigate chromatic dispersion in a phase modulated optical coherent detection system. Such electronic compensation techniques add flexibility to the dynamically routed optical networks. Performances of electronic mitigation techniques of chromatic dispersion are compared and their applicability limits are evaluated.

Performance analysis of Si/SiGe double junction solar cell Si/SiGe双结太阳能电池性能分析

In this paper, performance of Si/Si1-xGex thin film double junction solar cell is analyzed. Variation of efficiency of individual subcells and overall efficiency of the device has been studied with Ge-content and other device parameters viz., thickness of different subcells. Choice of Ge-content in SiGe layer and thickness of the top cell are very important to obtain optimized efficiency of the device. Efficiency increases initially with x and after a particular value of x, it decreases. More than 20% maximum efficiency is obtained for x=0.28, and for the thickness of top and bottom cells are 0.2μm and 0.12μm respectively.

Design of H-plane horn antenna using substrate integrated waveguide 基于基板集成波导的h面喇叭天线设计

A compact planar horn antenna is designed for operation in X-band. The H-plane horn antenna is designed using SIW technology. The antenna operated satisfactorily in a bandwidth of 200 MHz with a resonance at 9.75 GHz. It also gives a good H-plane pattern.H-plane pattern.

Design of circular antenna arrays for the reduction of side lobe and first null beamwidth using BFO 利用BFO减小旁瓣和第一零波束宽度的圆形天线阵列设计

A design problem of non-uniform circular antenna arrays for maximum reduction of both the side lobe level (SLL) and first null beamwidth (FNBW) is dealt with. This problem is modeled as a simple optimization problem. The method of Bacteria foraging Optimization (BFO) is used to determine an optimal set of current excitation weights and antenna inter-element spacing that provide radiation pattern with maximum SLL reduction and much improvement on FNBW as well. Circular array antenna laying on x-y plane is assumed. BFO is applied on circular arrays of 8-, 10-, and 12- elements. Various simulation results are presented and hence performances of side lobe and FNBW are analyzed. Experimental results show considerable reductions of both the SLL and FNBW with respect to those of the uniform case and some standard algorithms GA [12], PSO [14] and SA [11] applied to the same problem.

Integrated micro Michelson fiber interferometer with spatial mode beating characteristics for directional discrimination 集成微迈克尔逊光纤干涉仪,具有空间模式跳动特性,用于方向识别

We demonstrate integrated micro Michelson interferometer with a sphered-end hollow-core fiber attached against the singlemode fiber to serve as a sensing head for discriminating the moving direction of external object. The splicing point between the singlemode fiber and hollow-core fiber can convert the core mode into cladding modes which will be further projected to the external object by a fiber lens. The reflected cladding modes can be captured by fiber lens to interfere with the back-reflected core mode generated at splicing point to produce interferences with spatial mode beating characteristics. This spatial mode beating comes along with multiple foci outside the fiber lens where one of the cladding modes serves as a moving reference for others. The moving direction can thus be discriminated by monitoring the power variations of two neighboring wavelengths at the bilateral side of the wavelength beating node at around 1486 nm or 1504 nm wavelength.

Assessment of Bio-activity of the fruits using intensity based methods 基于强度法评价果实生物活性

In the present work, biospeckle laser technique has been used to monitor the bio-activity of the fruits. Bio-activity of two fruits namely apple and pear during their shelf lives have been evaluated using Generalized Difference and Alternative Fujii method. Comparative study has been done for both the methods. It has been found that bio-activity of the fruits decreases with increasing shelf-life storage.

Study of gain characteristics of GaAs/GaAlAs self assembled quantum dots GaAs/GaAlAs自组装量子点增益特性研究

The effect of size and shape anisotropy on the gain characteristics of strain free GaAs/AlGaAs quantum dots is theoretically investigated. QD is modelled by anisotropic parabolic potential along x-y plane. Luttinger Hamiltonian has been numerically diagonalized over a wider range of shape anisotropy and size to obtain the eigenvalues and eigenvectors. The dipole matrix elements are obtained for interband transitions and gain spectra are calculated.

Iterative fast Fourier transform for side lobe level reduction of non-uniformly excited thinned linear array antenna 非均匀激励薄线性阵列天线旁瓣电平降阶的迭代快速傅里叶变换

This paper describes the design of non-uniformly excited and uniformly spaced thinned linear array antenna. The method is based on the iterative fast Fourier transform. Thinning of the antenna array can be accomplished by making the predetermined number of element excitations to zero to meet the desired side lobe level. In this paper two examples are presented for the maximization of the number of switched off elements to meet the desired side lobe level of -35 dB and -30 dB with a linear array antenna of 160 elements. The basic advantage of the iterative Fourier transform is its computational speed.

Comparison of modulation formats for free space optics with SelC diversity 具有SelC分集的自由空间光学调制格式的比较

In the present work, a comparative analysis of different modulation formats in free space optical turbulent media with and without spatial diversity technique is presented. The channel modelling is done with gamma-gamma distribution and the modulation formats used for comparison are ASK, BPSK, QPSK and FSK. Selection combining diversity technique is employed at the receiver and bit-to-bit comparison is used to estimate the error performance i.e. BER. The four modulation formats are employed on the FSO link in the presence as well as absence of diversity. The comparison is done on the basis of the performance matrices like BER, input optical power, SNR and the minimum received power obtained. The result shows BPSK as the suitable format in presence as well as absence of diversity. Also with diversity the requirement of SNR to achieve the same BER is reduced by 7 dB.

Advances of optical fiber sensors for coal mine safety monitoring applications 光纤传感器在煤矿安全监测中的应用进展

Optic fiber sensors (OFS) offer a number of unique advantages for safety monitoring in explosive and hazardous environment such as underground coal mines. This paper reports on latest development of fiber optic sensors for monitoring methane and other gases, detection of seismic events and application systems for hazard monitoring and early warning of coal mine combustion, roof integrity and seismic activities. The application potential and future trend of OFS research for coal mine hazard detection and prevention are also discussed in the paper.
