This study proposes alternatives for improving the delivery system of emergency welfare support for ex-prisoners, particularly suggesting ways to integrate the emergency support system with the rehabilitative welfare system. The aim is to propose alternatives for ex-prisoners' independence and recidivism prevention. Based on existing research data, this study explores the current status, trends, and operational issues of emergency welfare support. It identifies issues and key points of contention in emergency welfare support for ex-prisoners. Drawing from this analysis, the study aims to present policy alternatives and development strategies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the emergency welfare support system for ex-prisoners. The study results reveal a continuous and sharp increase in the number of cases and the amount of support provided through the emergency welfare support. Among these, the number of support cases for ex-prisoners has drastically risen from 1,135 cases in 2014 to 49,513 cases in 2020. Given the nature of the emergency support system, the entire process, from application-related investigations to decisions, disbursement management, and post-assessment, is carried out by dedicated personnel in a one-stop delivery system. This has led to burdens on frontline local government agencies due to heavy workloads and stresses from public complaints. Notably, many challenges have been raised concerning support for ex-prisoners. Consequently, this study aims to discuss integrated community services by proposing a delivery system and case management system linkage and improvement approach with the Korea Rehabilitation Agency responsible for ex-prisoners' recidivism prevention and social integration.

Various doctors cannot reside in correctional facilities for budgetary reasons, and there is a limit to one or two doctors residing and treating them for budgetary reasons. For this reason, resident doctors require inmates to receive telemedicine or external hospital treatment for treatment that they cannot. The problem is that a lot of medical expenses are being spent due to telemedicine or external treatment. The way to improve this problem is to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) doctors to correctional facilities. The treatment method using an AI doctor is to first fill out a questionnaire using a Galaxy tab, an I-Pad, or a computer, and if the diagnosis results are from an AI doctor, a resident doctor can prescribe, and otherwise receive external or video treatment. Next, AI doctors provide psychiatric counseling for prisoners through professional knowledge. The accuracy of diagnosis through AI doctors can help detect patients' diseases early and treat them appropriately. Early treatment can reduce patient pain and minimize medical expenses. When the Ministry of Justice fully introduces AI doctors to correctional facilities, various problems may arise. Therefore, it is necessary to fully compensate for the problems that arise after conducting one calibration facility on a trial basis, and then implement it for all calibration facilities.

Suicide is the number one cause of death among adolescents, and suicide among adolescents is rapidly increasing. If you have thought about or attempted suicide in adolescence, you are more likely to attempt suicide later. In addition, frequent suicidal thoughts are likely to lead to suicide attempts, and many deaths by suicide occur in people who have experienced suicide attempts. Therefore, preventive social efforts are needed to lower the youth suicide rate. Therefore, in this study, among the factors influencing suicidal ideation in adolescence, the experience of discrimination and self-esteem were considered as the main factors, and the relationship between them was investigated. In other words, the mediating effect of self-esteem was analyzed in the process of experiencing discrimination victimization affecting suicidal ideation. As a result of the study, it was found that the experience of discrimination damage had a significant effect on self-esteem, and self-esteem had a significant effect on suicidal ideation. In addition, the experience of discrimination victimization was found to have a significant effect on suicidal ideation, indicating that self-esteem had a mediating effect in the process of experiencing discrimination victimization affecting suicidal ideation. It was found that the experience of victimization affected suicidal ideation through self-esteem.

The purpose of the current study was to examine the relationships among adolescent grit, attention deficits, aggression, and cyber delinquency. The author analyzed the third wave data (9th grades) from Korean Child Youth Panel Study (KCYPS) 2018, using process macro program of multiple mediation modeling. Findings of the present study were as follows: First, attention deficit mediated the relationship between adolescent grit and cyber delinquency. Second, aggression also mediated the association between grit and cyber delinquency. Lastly, both attention deficit and aggression subsequently mediated the relationship between grit and cyber delinquency. To be specific, adolescents with higher levels of grit predict lower levels of attention deficit and subsequently predict lower levels of aggression, leading to decrease in cyber delinquency. In other words, adolescents with higher levels of grit are less likely to experience attention deficit and aggression, and thus, are protective of consequent cyber delinquency. In contrast, adolescents with lower levels of grit are more likely to follow the vicious path, where attention deficit aggravates into aggression and eventually intensifies cyber delinquency. Limitations and implications of the study were discussed.

Adolescence is an important time to prepare or decide the career path and direction of life in order to plan for the future, but out-of-school adolescents find themselves in an environment where it is difficult to plan or prepare for the future. This study aimed to verify the mediating effect of the depression of whom out-of-school adolescence where the social stigma affects the thoughts about the future. As a result of this study, it was found that social stigma had a significant positive effect on depression, and depression had a significant negative effect on thoughts about the future. In addition, it was found that social stigma had a significant influence on thoughts about the future. Therefore, the depression had a mediating effect in the process of the social stigma affecting the thoughts about the future. In the results of bootstrapping to verify the mediating effect, the indirect effect of the depression was found to be significant in the process of the social stigma affecting thoughts about the future. Also, the social stigma had a significant indirect effect on the thoughts about the future through depression. Based on it, this study recommended that various information or counseling programs be expanded for out-of-school adolescence.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the types of exchanges between prisoners and their children and the explanatory factors. For this purpose, latent group analysis and general structural equation model were used. As a result of the analysis, first, 64.9% of the prisoners were interacting with their children, and correspondence was used the most. Second, the type of exchange of prisoners can be divided into a passive group and an active group. Overall, the active group used a variety of child exchange methods compared to the passive group. Third, the higher the age, the better the relationship with the child caregiver, and the more female than male, the higher the possibility of belonging to the active group than the passive group in the case of recognizing the fact of acceptance. Based on these research results, measures to expand exchanges between children of inmates and their implications were proposed.

Because adolescents’ gambling behavior causes various social problems over personal dimension problems, effective methods on not just themselves but home, school, and governmental levels(such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Gender Equality & Family, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and National Police Agency) are urgently requested. Thus, this study analyzed empirically the reason for friends which is one of the quoted reasons for adolescents participating in gambling through the differential association theory suggested by Edwin H. Sutherland. In this study, to compare factors that affect adolescents' online and offline gambling, the researcher conducted an empirical analysis by using secondary data from the “2020’ adolescent gambling problem Survey” conducted by the Korea Center on Gambling Problems, and the subject of this survey was limited to middle and high school student who resides in Korea. As a result, it is suggested that differential association factors except friendship have significant effects on online and offline gambling behavior. Segregating friend’s effect on the type of adolescents’ gambling behavior, gambling with friends is suggested high level on offline gambling behavior, in contrast, on online gambling behavior, gambling with friends is suggested low level. Also, it is suggested that more introducing gambling by friends causes more addicting gambling on online and offline gambling behavior. To restrain adolescents' gambling, the gambling service provider should receive criminal punishment, and related organizations such as National Policy Agency regulate illegal gambling websites through cooperation with domestic and foreign organizations. Additionally, make adolescents control themselves for not to engage in gambling through active education and campaigns, and simultaneously systemic rehabilitation support system should be established for gambling addicted adolescents.

Segregating friend’s effect on the type of adolescents’ gambling behavior, gambling with friends is suggested high level on offline gambling behavior, in contrast, on online gambling behavior, gambling with friends is suggested low level. Also, it is suggested that more introducing gambling by friends causes more addicting gambling on online and offline gambling behavior. To restrain adolescents' gambling, the gambling service provider should receive criminal punishment, and related organizations such as National Policy Agency regulate illegal gambling websites through cooperation with domestic and foreign organizations. Additionally, make adolescents control themselves for not to engage in gambling through active education and campaigns, and simultaneously systemic rehabilitation support system should be established for gambling addicted adolescents.","PeriodicalId":287472,"journal":{"name":"The Correction Welfare Society of Korea","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126995113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
