This research paper delves into the thematic exploration of gender identity, female resilience, and the subversion of societal norms in Mahasweta Devi's collection of translated stories, Till Death Do Us Part. The collection spans over thirty years and encompasses five stories: "The Divorce", "The Saga of Kagaboga", "The Poet's Wife", “He, said Pani”, and, “Love Story”. In these narratives, Mahasweta Devi deviates from the conventional satirical and socially-critical writing style and shows extraordinary sensitivity in the portrayal of her characters. The stories are centered on the lives of five elderly women who struggle with several challenges and societal constraints. Simultaneously, they diligently explore unconventional approaches to contest prevailing norms and masculine hegemony. This research study aims to dissect these distinctive qualities in Devi's storytelling within the context of her collection, “Till Death Do Us Part”.

Sam Shepard is not just a “western essayist”, but one who has the capacity to assess contemporary American culture through the symbols and topics of conventional Western American writing. His plays follow the liquidation of American society, in which characters are no more coordinated into their reality by adherence to habitual qualities and standards. Shepard raises the icons of this convention to send them slamming from a more prominent stature, delineates the whole-world destroying end of customary American society in which long-held qualities, especially those celebrated in Western American writing, are ceremonially exorcized to make space for some new, up till now unheard of America. Shepard’s plays don’t advance sequentially to these ends. Shepard, depicts the search for home within contemporary American culture. In this paper, we are focusing on Shepard’s selected plays to depict the failure of family reintegration into Home or Family. Shepard’s Fourteen Hundred Thousand (1967), The Unseen Hand (1972) and Mad Dog Blues (1972). Fourteen Hundred Thousand - is a play about Husband and Wife who tries to build a bookshelf. The Unseen Hand - is a play about Morphan brothers who lives far away from their home. Mad Dog Blues - this play is all about a couple of best friends who were unhappy with their misguided lives set off to discover a treasure.

Greek tragedy is a tragedy of fate that brings the downfall of the central figure. Greek playwrights were masters of storytelling and tried to bring purgation of human emotions. Man is indeed responsible for his prosperity and downfall, but no one can deny the role of destiny in man’s life. Sophocles was one of the greatest Greek Playwrights who produced considerable tragedies in Greek literature. Sophocles’ plays were performed on the stage during the ancient time. His most horrible tragedy is Oedipus Rex in which Sophocles presents the cruelty of destiny that brings Oedipus’s downfall. Ajax is a tragedy of the central character Ajax who is presented as a noble warrior in the play but his rivalry with Odysseus for the armour of Achilles invites his downfall. In Ajax, Athena, a Greek goddess is presented as a villain in the play. Athena blurs the vision of Ajax and makes him believe that he has killed his rival Odysseus and Greek leaders but later on, he comes to know that he has killed the innocent cattle under the influence of Athena’s false vision. When Ajax comes to know about his sin, he commits suicide at the end of the play. Athena’s deception brings downfall to Ajax.

Environmental fiction is one that deals with men’s social conditions, environment and nature. It is a study of relationship between man and nature. Man is always dependent on nature. He cannot live without it. Nature provides the means of livelihood to the human beings. Nature is mighty and powerful to man. Man has always tried to make a victory over nature, but it is very temporary or momentary. Nature always makes a balance, but if there is any kind of nature created by man, there is every time a natural imbalance between man and nature. For removing this imbalance, man always makes a compromise with nature. Nature is cruel and so, it is necessary to compromise with nature. Otherwise, nature will destroy all those things which concern man.

This paper examines how the protagonist of Julian Barnes’s novel The Sense of an Ending (2011), Tony Webster, reconstructs his past through memory and narrative. Tony, an unreliable narrator in his sixties, attempts to decipher the truth and meaning of his past through his fallible memory and limited and insufficient documents. The central argument of the paper posits that Tony’s narration of his personal history holds a comparable level of authority to that found in any traditional historical narration. Therefore, like a professional historian, his narration of the past employs the narrative strategy of emplotment to make his story coherent and persuasive. As Hayden White argued, a historical narration is parallel to storytelling and a historian employs ‘fictive elements’ to make the historical representation comprehensive and sympathetic to the target readers. The paper also throws light on the fragmented depiction of Tony’s past which is effectively linked to his struggle to fully comprehend and cope with his somewhat traumatic history. By incorporating the theories of Hayden White and Pierre Nora to explore the connections and differences between memory, history, and fiction in the novel. The paper contributes to the critical studies of Barnes’s novel by highlighting the ethical and epistemological implications of Tony’s interest in the past and self-historicization, providing a nuanced perspective on the novel.

Literature offers insight into lives, experiences, and teachings, shedding light on marginalized indigenous populations seeking recognition. Emerging literature lets indigenous ethnicities represent dynamic cultures and reclaim hidden histories. The paper's primary objective is to discuss the socio-political and cultural significance of tribal literature. Shanxi is a province in the middle reaches of the Yellow River Basin, famous for its rich variety of folk arts. Its Drum Music is the typical representative of folk music in nothern China. From the south to north of Shanxi, four types of drum music have been in the list of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage for the unique artistic features, musical instruments used, history, cultural function and roles in the folk life. Shanxi gong and drum music is the collective wisdom of the local people. The integration of audio books and video books into English Language Teaching (ELT) has transformed traditional language learning methods. This research paper explores the evolving role of these multimedia resources in ELT, investigating their benefits, challenges, and pedagogical implications. Through an in-depth analysis of relevant literature, this study examines how audio books and video books enhance listening skills and comprehension, facilitate vocabulary acquisition, cultural immersion and contextual understanding, fosters motivation and engagement, caters to diverse learning styles, and provide authentic language exposure. Furthermore, the paper discusses effective pedagogical strategies for integrating these resources into ELT classrooms. By synthesizing theoretical insights and practical examples, this paper highlights the potential of audio books and video books to create immersive language learning experiences that bridge the gap between classroom instruction and real-world language use.

Journalists by profession are storytellers across mediums in different languages. After years of practice, many journalists, in the past and even now, step into the world of writing books, particularly life narratives like biographies and autobiographies. One of the reasons to choose the genre is their expertise, as journalists often meet people and unravel their characteristics in the profile and interview formats. Another reason is their ability to do research and delve deep into people’s lives. The present study picks up a few journalists at random who have authored biographies and autobiographies, and studies their approach to writing books and the craft of presentation keeping in mind their experience and expertise.

Poetry, despite the side-liningfaced due to the profusion of the novel, has made a comeback marking its genuine presence with its ability to combine the imaginative and the creative to project the real. Contemporary poetry, pluralistic, experimental and diverse in form encompassing the nature culture and history of the world has been drawing intense thematic and theoretical attention to itself. Myths play an important role in literature especially in expressing modernist tendencies as done by the twentieth century poet T S Eliot. Similarly, the former Poet Laureate of Britain, Carol Ann Duffy, has subverted myths to bridge the gap between the traumatic experiences of mythical women and the contemporary ones. The paper Transcending the Bounds of Temporality and Spatiality: Mythical Retelling of Femininity in Carol Ann Duffy’s The World’s Wife intends to portray how Carol Ann Duffy projects the problems of women through parading female characters from history, mythology and fairy tales. The technique of mythical subversion has helped her to dismantle the popular notions associated with women (self-sacrificing and self-effacing). The paper thus examines in detail, using the elements of myth criticism, the poems in The World’s Wife to find out the different facets of women presented by Duffy using mythical subversion.
