Two 3D-learning environments in SecondLife and OpenSim have been developed as part of a grant project called TYMMI -Technology and Pedagogical Models in Immersive Worlds-funded by the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development FONDECYT in Chile. The main objective is to strengthen the professional performance of pre-service teachers bachelor students, by simulating teaching practices and virtual learning opportunities where the community members join a meeting or class, share and interact in the complex process of assimilation teaching skills. Preliminary results are related to the design of two immersive simulation platforms and to develop a conceptual and technological model for teaching in Immersive Worlds. In this context, the authors created an ACTI-PLAN that allows pre-service teachers to act in two areas: cataloging resources and educational planning. Also, in this virtual space there is an architecture that supports pedagogical proposal that includes classrooms for Mathematic and Language for elementary education.

The paper focuses on using ICT in teacher training to instruct them about using ICT in class. Several ESF projects aimed at enhancing teachers' pedagogical ICT competence in the Czech Republic build effective blended learning programmes. The aim of this paper is to share Czech experience from the course How to use a SMART Board in a classroom. Our course is based on pedagogical principles of experiential learning. With this technique, the participants obtain new knowledge and skills through a practical activity. Attention is paid to online communication through discussion forums, which brings many advantages including the participants working on problems with one another. Thus, learners were offered the opportunity not only to reflect on their own work, but also on the work of their peers, which over time led to increased learning. Finally, we introduce the results of the survey from which we obtain data for the course evaluation.

In recent years Social Media have penetrated in all aspects of society in various ways. Higher education has also been a recipient of this penetration. This paper explores what is the impact of Social Media in the spectrum of education and specifically what are its implications in the specific field. The examination is provided through the presentation of reports that have been contacted on the issue, following a discussion and presenting the possible positive and negative effects of such a use in or outside the classroom area.

The firmai¾´s human capital is a process referring to the sum total of individual and collective learning through training programs, experience and experimentation, among others. In-business ongoing training is one of the most important strategies for human capital development and it is crucial to sustain and improve workers' knowledge and skills. Many businesses use continuous learning strategy, encouraging employees to learn new skills continually to be innovative and to try new processes and work in order to achieve a competitive advantage and superior business results. This paper uses the Resource Based View and Capacities (RBV) approach to construct a hypothetical relationships model between Human Capital construct and business results. The test of the model is applied on transversal data. A sample of 266 business of Spanish sector service has been selected. A Structural Equation Model (SEM) is used to estimate the relationship between training, represented by two latent dimension, Human and Social Capital and economic business results. The coefficients estimated have shown the efficient of some training aspects explaining the variation in business results.

Digital divide is one of the major problems of Information Society and is linked with social exclusion. This work is focus on Spain situation and its relative position in the European Union, and study the major key points of it through the household reasons for have no Internet Access, taking into account socio-economics variables, as a key point that can be help to understand the relative situation of Spain in the European Union related with ICT and to elaborate suitable public policies to reduce digital divide. Results have shown that the most important reason that Spanish households do not have access to Internet is that people feel they do not need it, because they not consider Internet useful or interesting. It is proposed the design of public policies that take into account the important lack of motivation and good attitude towards Internet in the most of Spanish households without Internet.

The research described here examines the introduction of class sets of tablet technology for two secondary school physical education specialists and the students in their physical education classes. The teachers' perceptions of student ease of use and issues encountered during the implementation are captured through guided discussions on an online platform. The research design is qualitative, capturing the teachers' descriptions of day-to-day issues and successes with the implementation. The study raises questions with respect to how implementation is theorized when teachers and students have out-of-school familiarity with the mobile technology and the learning curve is less steep. This study's findings confirm aspects of earlier research which identifies supports and barriers to technology implementation in education in general, and adds to understandings of potential uses and barriers for mobile technology in physical education classes.

Ranking of the web sites and organizations is vital to maintain the quality of service and obtain improvements where possible. Arabic Observatory for Websites and Social Media (AOWSM) is a system that takes into consideration the web presence of organizations and ranks them based on different metrics and standards that are described later in the paper. This paper presents an introductory study about the AOWSM and describes its working, limitations, and modules. AOWSM is set to make its way for becoming a standard in the ranking of the organizations based on their quality of web services, presence, and standards.

Online communities have become important places for users to share information. In this context, the work described in this article aims to analyze computational methods that could allow us to identify users with the highest expertise levels on a specific knowledge domain in an online community. In this study the authots extracted data from a Java discussion group from an online community-Facebook, captured some important information and represented the community as a graph. Then, the authors compared the Bow-tie structure of this community with the ones from the Web and from a forum that are described in the literature. In addition, the authors tested some graph metrics and algorithms in order to analyze if they could provide a method to find the experts in this online community. The results show that four of the tested metrics can indicate if a user is an expert or not.

This paper is a review on Business to Consumer B2C electronic commerce e-commerce and it studies its evolution over the last decade. The Internet characteristics that affect B2C are the Internet growth, which at first includes the number of Internet users and secondly, the infrastructure, which is basically the quality and speed of the lines. Moreover, the way the Internet growth has affected the B2C e-commerce growth over the last ten years is studied in three major countries-areas. The USA because it is an Internet developed country with vast e-commerce sales, China because it is a rapidly developing Internet country with a large number of users and fast e-commerce activity growth in the last decade and finally, the European Union, because of its diversity in Internet and e-commerce growth. This paper focuses on the aforementioned three geographic areas and extracts its conclusions from the observations of B2C behavior growth in these areas.

The Campania region boasts one of the largest and most priceless cultural heritages in the world: five sites in this region have already been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and many other sites considered "minor" are not adequately promoted in spite of the fact they are of high artistic value. The project "Cultural Heritage Information System," referred to from now on as "CHIS", aims to investigate the possibility of developing a technological infrastructure that can support activities related to the specific context of Cultural Heritage, and the various user involved. CHIS represents the technological leverage with which it will be possible to develop value-added services which can enhance the business environment by means of personalized services. In this paper the authors will describe the proposed framework and its main characteristics.
