The Observatorio de Costes y Financiación del Transporte Urbano Colectivo (Cost and Funding of Urban Transport Watchdog) and its annual reports on this industry provide an excellent platform to improve awareness of its cost structure, to enable benchmarking strategies/practices for companies, and to fund policies for an efficient public service.
Alongside this, setting-up a database which includes a battery/series of comprehensive and core parameters for studying the conditions of public service provision in Spain, is a first-order information base that must be used to generate industry knowledge and develop multiple lines of research to be explored in the future.
In this paper we aim to present a potential research roadmap in this area.

A sufficiently accessible public transport, is one of the main factors for the implementation of congestion charging, which ensures addition, an adequate level of social equity in mobility, a high degree of social acceptance. This article based on a population survey for the City of Madrid and its surroundings, provides an assessment of the current transport accessibility features Madrid to guarantee social equity in low mobility urban pricing situations, where the results show as the system would ensure a level of fairness in the mobility very meaningful and relevant to interior and radial displacements respectively with very limited scope for transverse displacements, although the use of certain strategies can be a crucial factor that promotes fairness socially desirable for the congestion charge.

The introduction of telework in organizations has been used as an example of policy to improve urban mobility, through the reduction in the frequency and duration of trips between home and the workplace. However, telework does not seem to be catching on among businesses and workers, so that the intended improvements are not being achieved. Mobility in urban areas could be improved by increased interest of companies and workers to adopt this way of working, but this is necessary to clarify what is teleworking, what forms have and how they can benefit the parties involved, besides indicating weaknesses and how to minimize them. The ultimate purpose of this paper is to analyze the causes of adoption of telework and its promotion by organizations offering recommendations for proper implementation.

The transport sector in Spain is a branch of economic activity which is already of great importance according to its own invoicing, value added and occupation figures, in addition to its indirect economic effects. It has an additional strategic value for economic policy, since it constitutes a fundamental part of the cost of placing products on increasing markets in a competitive manner. The mobility and transportation of passengers in cities in turn plays an essential role in the economic and social activity. All of these reasons, in addition to the recent significant problems of sustainability which this priority sector is currently confronting in all aspects, justify an interest in a study which attempts to obtain a profile of this public service by using a strategic analysis through the application of the traditional Porter Five Forces Model. The application of this model will allow us to obtain a general strategic vision which, when combined with a maturity analysis, will provide a more in-depth knowledge of the object under study, that will serve as a basis for subsequent analyses of the collective urban public transport service.

Store brands account for 41% of the Spanish market share in 2011, and a further increase is expected in next years due to economic crisis, which makes up an increasingly competitive market with great research interest. In this context, our study aims to analyze which variables have a relevant influence on store Brand Equity from the consumers’ standpoint in the current downturn context, providing an empirical research on the Spanish large retailing. We carried out an on-line questionnaire to customers of store brands residing in Spain, obtaining a total amount of 362 valid responses regarding the Spanish large retailers Mercadona, Dia, Eroski, Carrefour and El Corte Inglés. Then, the analysis was performed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results obtained suggest that store commercial image has the higher influence on both store brand perceived quality and store brand awareness, and in relation with the sources of store Brand Equity, the dimension store brand awareness shows the greater influence on the formation of store Brand Equity. This study is of great interest for large retailers who wish to increase their store brands’ value proposition to the marketplace, especially during economic downturns.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the phenomenon of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the Spanish banking sector through social responsibility reports. Based on the theories of legitimacy and Stakeholders justified the use of CSR to analyze the behavior information about its environment. As survey methodology used content analysis, in particular are analyzed and compared the information practices in relation to four pillars on which the RSC is organized: customers, community, employees and the environment. In particular, it proposes a content index of liability (IDR) that measures the quality and detail of information provided. The study concludes that the community and environment categories are the most generally reported, although nature are social institutions (savings banks and credit unions) more transparent about customers and community is concerned, on the evolution during the recent years have seen that the transparency of information does not increase, but remains stable or even decreased as in the case of the contents on customers, in addition, we find that the contents are related to the internal activity of the company remains concerned about the most institutions to address the impacts of their activities as financial intermediaries.

Internet searches statistics is a tool that is becoming more important in social science research. We propose to use the Internet search statistics, obtained through Google Insights, as an indicator of confidence or risk aversion of investors. Using this information we developed a Risk Aversion Index (RAI) from the volume of searches done on Google over certain economic or financial terms that are negatively correlated with the market trends. In this paper we show empirically through an econometric model that Google search statistics provide important information on the evolution of financial markets and the RAI provides investment signals with predictive power over the evolution of the main European stock index giving negative returns if the RAI increases and positive otherwise.
