On June 2013, the streets were taken by multitudes who wanted great economic, political and social reforms. This event was nominated June Protests. Our objective, in this paper, is to understand how the protester was constructed on and by print media . From the discursive semiotics and Bakhtin’s philosophy, our object of study is the discursive protester actors’ body. As methodology, we recover the protester actor’s discursivization process in two distinct genres: the charge and the editorial, both published by the newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo , on June 13th, 2015. As a result, we found that in the two genres different discursive strategies are used to sustain their axiological position about the protester actor.

This paper discusses the individuation conditions of the so-called contemporary photography by examining the notion of anachronism in different artworks and authors as Jeff Wall and Cindy Sherman. The construction of visual discursivity in art as a matter of communication comes from the idea that it would exist, in nowadays particular images, an unpresentness perceivable through persistent pictorial traces and issues of other times, particularly in art history. The relevance of thinking on the experience of photography in art points to its contributions for discussing communicative aspects of photography, mostly the representation that order the visible, as well as their operations that mediate our relationship with the world through the image.

In this paper we develop the theoretical approach to analyze the construction of collectives of identification made by newspapers and Internet forums, as crucial spaces in order to study the contemporary migration processes, especially the phenomenon of the Argentinian recent migration during 2001-2005. To acknowledge their importance as media, in which migration becomes significant, there is a proposal for analyzing both: as formers of newspapers readers, and as a privileged interface of personal and online expressions for the forums, existing in a society increasingly mediatized.

In this paper, we analyze how S&T issues appears on the TV Globo, the channel with the largest audience in Brazil. The methodology of "constructed week" was used to compose a sample of two weeks (14 days), representative of six months in 2013. We recorded and watched each day, a total of 336 hours. Through a content analysis, we found out that science appeared in 7.3% of TV Globo broadcast during the period analyzed and was in several television categories, from TV news to advertising, from soap operas to talk shows. Science was more related to issues of Medicine and Health. Scientists and experts were important sources of information, but citizens were heard about these issues as well. However, we found out that scientists were less represented on TV - and, when they appeared, there were more men than women scientists. In advertising, the most frequent television category in our corpus, science was used as a way to enforce credibility to the product, highlighting the social role of science.

This paper is part of a research series that I have been doing on the social production of meaning in communicative processes. I hereby present a brief introduction referring to the “place” this communication occupies in the social sciences (particularly on Claude Levi-Strauss’ reflections), the way this question was positioned inside the so-called “Symbolic Interaction”, as well as the way Wittgenstein develops his re ections on “Language Games”. With that, I intend to contribute to the construction of an interdisciplinary analysis of communicative processes in the communication studies field.

This paper aims to discuss the configurations of a memory of dislocation in Brazilian documentary film. To that end, the documentary Descaminhos (Marilia Rocha et al., 2007) is analyzed focusing its theme, which is the railway - or what was left of it - in four Brazilian states. The purpose is to verify how the connections of testimonials, images, sounds and noises produce that memory, in which there is a recurrence in the work and affections related to train. The hypothesis adopted here is that, in its collective dimension, memory takes the aspect of trajectory through the documentary, in which ruin and travel are basic components.

This paper presents a communicational approach to the organizational strategy. As a common object of administrative and economic strategies, the procedure was investigated from an epistemic-methodological perspective which emphasizes communication. Grounded in Niklas Luhmann’s systems theory in the social dimension of language, as well as in Eliseo Veron’s discursive approach, the systemic-discursive perspective enables the exploration of communication elements, which are articulated in a theoretical model focused on understanding the organizational strategy.

This article proposes some re ections on the girl Omayra Sanchez’s photograph to reveal how photojournalistic image can constitute someone’s face by making it subject to our glance. The printed face on the photographic surface makes the stranger appear and brings out the place of communication and reciprocity. At the same time, the politics of image can reveal a “being common”, or an uncommon, or a piece of someone else that is not easy to apprehend, not translatable into communication. In a threefold session, this article seeks to understand how that image shows us the other’s place transformed by the promise of my place, assuming an aesthetic, ethical, and political aspect. Opening, passage and interdiction compose the movements of the intermittent, productive process of subjectifying glances and gestures.

This paper aims to grasp the mobilized and built meanings on aging, herein assumed as either a biological category or as a discursively constructed one, and published in 2406 issues of the weekly Veja since 1968 to 2014. From this total, 112 reports have been detected, out of which 233 speech sequences have been selected, based on the French discourse analysis frames that allow us to understand both discursive formations. Hegemonically speaking, it has been possible to observe a discourse consolidation that considers youth as a value to be conquered and kept still, and aging, on the contrary, as a result of one’s inability. According to Veja , being young is under the readers’ responsibility, who will never get old if they follow its instructions.
