Television experience and political discussion on Twitter: Exploring online conversations during the 2014 Brazilian presidential elections 推特上的电视体验和政治讨论:探索2014年巴西总统选举期间的在线对话

This empirical study aims to investigate the characteristics of the conversation and political discussion on Twitter during the last televised presidential debate in the first round of the Brazilian general elections in 2014, aired by Globo TV. Television experience, political participation, and Twitter dynamics were considered for the examination of different kinds of engagement in 100,000 messages collected during the debate. The aim was to identify peaks of user engagement, linking these moments to the events occurred during the debate, evaluating how the characteristics of the communicative environment may affect the discourses built around the debate.

O cinema silencioso e o som no Brasil (1894-1920) 巴西电影无声电影(1894-1920)

The silent cinema has recurred to sound from its beginnings. Despite the importance of the connection between these two spheres, only recently foreign scholars began to study the uses the cinema made of sound. Here in Brazil, researches of this field are only beginning. This essay aims to recuperate the uses the silent movies made of sound in national ground, from the first experiences with the kinetoscope (in the ends of 1894) to the beginning of the 1920s, when the place of the music in the cinematographic spectacle was stabilized. From a transdisciplinary perspective, we intend to prove that the cinematographic scene from this period integrated a context of cultural circulation: when popular music and songs were used as accompaniment for the silent films; impregnating the cinematograph with former meanings, as well as constructing new meanings – ones that mixed the moving shadows of the artists to the social polyphony.

Este artigo advoga em favor de significativas reorientacoes e reconceitualizacoes dos estudos do campo da Comunicacao, de maneira a acomodar as oportunidades e desafios introduzidos pelas maquinas cada vez mais inteligentes. Particularmente, buscamos demonstrar, por um lado, como e porque a atividade comunicacional vem sendo considerada uma condicao definidora da inteligencia artificial (IA) e, por outro lado, como a teoria da IA e o desenvolvimento de aplicacoes que a envolvam complica a ideia do sujeito de comunicacao, urgindo requerer modificacoes significantes tanto em seu aparato conceitual quanto em sua estrutura filosofica.

Neste artigo, propomos uma perspectiva para a construcao de casos de pesquisa sobre midiatizacao e circulacao. Partindo dos esquemas de Veron, nossa proposicao acentua a explosao de defasagens entre logicas de producao e de reconhecimento como fenomeno central nos processos de midiatizacao. A problematica do metodo esta direcionada para esse ambiente em diferenciacao. O o sugerido para investigar objetos em expansao, a saber, meios, logicas de producao e recepcao, usos e praticas, circuitos e ambientes, novas narrativas e percursos, etc., e dado pelos indicios, pelas inferencias e relacoes analogicas, centrais na constituicao de casos de investigacao desenhados pelo argumento abdutivo.

Rever, retorcer, reverter e retomar as imagens: comunidades de cinema e cosmopolítica 回顾、扭曲、逆转和恢复图像:电影社区和世界政治

This paper observes communities of spectators in its actual appearance in films directed by (or in co-authorship with) indigenous groups. Indeed, this production (particularly within Video in the Villages project) shows that beyond of a method or procedure, exhibiting lms for a unique community assumes the statute of a dispositive, which has not only cinematic implications but also cosmopolitical ones. In movies such as A arca dos Z’oe (1993),  De volta a terra boa (2008),Pirinop – meu primeiro contato (2007), Tava – casa de pedra (2012) e Pele de branco (2012), “communities of cinema” are formed, integrating the mise-en-scene and forging a complex image, in which the group recognizes itself at discrepancy delaying.

In autobiographical works, as the narrator tells his memories within narration time, he remembers his asleep past and also materializes his remembrances turning them into a text. In this way he leads us from absence deixis to presence deixis (both terms in tensive semiotics). However, the subject’s experiences take the opposite direction (from presence to absence) in narrated past, entering both forgetfulness and memory. This paper aims to discuss how these two directions or “pathways” (remembrance and forgetfulness) as well as their meaningful effects are performed in autobiographical discourses.

The goal of this paper is to examine the different ways the “medicalization of life” appears in media speeches, in order to identify its implications for the production of subjectivities. The starting hypothesis is that there is a current shift in the de nitions of healthiness and normality. Besides the theoretical discussion, we proceed to the analysis of advertisements and journalistic pieces that encompass health subjects dating from the beginning of the 20th century until now.

The concept of reception runs through the work of Eliseo Veron - 1968-2013. Initial studies emphasize the dimension of time for the production of meaning. They highlight processes that involve specific moments for the de nition of the signification, in which a message is said and received. Little attention has been paid for this aspect, but it is an issue that would demand a lot in the future. The actors’ role is pointed out, since rebuilding recognition grammars assumes the work with the individual word. The pertinence of the idea of “grammars” is developed - its de ciencies and different logics - for the formulation of theory of recognition, from the articulation production/reception.

The paper presents, describes and analyzes the screenplay entitled Slow homecoming , by Wim Wenders, which was written in 1982 and has never been filmed. The work is an adaptation of the homonymous tetralogy by Peter Handke and represents a shift in landscape aesthetics, both in film and literature. This work led me to ask more speci c questions about the role of the script in narratives that make up a certain history of cinema. Furthermore, I gradually discovered the meaning and value of a script, whether historical or narrative, for a nonexistent lm. The script is de ned as an archive, as conceived by Jacques Derrida, who also points to the future and might announce spectral aspects of film history.

Facing a historical context of political and economic tension between Cuba and the United States, we investigate a pop music concert held in March 2016 in Anti-Imperialist Tribune, Havana, played by electronic music group Major Lazer, as a performance around the cultural memory in America, as postulated by Diana Taylor (2013). The staging of performance arrangements of musicians and the audience refers to rituals that reveal contradictions around the presence of American products traces in Cuban territory. We debate the erasures of restrictive communication policies by the Cuban government and the display of icons linked to United States by the Cuban youth as an inner question about a national project built in the Caribbean island.
