A novel 24GHz microstrip array antenna with 168 rectangular resonators is presented. Compared with the traditional 18×14 microstrip elements array, 84 elements may be reduced with same performance. The feeding network with Dolph-Chebyshev distribution is used for low side lob, and the side lobe of microstrip array antenna is less than −17 dB. The proposal design is confirmed by both simulation and measured results.

Efficient segmentation of noisy Magnetic Resonance ( MR) brain images is a challenging task, as pre and post surgery decisions are required to make accurately in achieving better medical practices while treating brain disorders. This paper presents an automatic segmentation technique to remove non brain tissue (skull, fat, skin, muscle) of noisy MR brain images and to extract brain tissue (cortex and cerebellum). Here, Contourlet transform is applied to denoise a noisy MR brain image and threshold based morphological operations are applied to extract brain region on denoised images. Hence a comparative study is developed on skull removed MR brain images with and without denoising based on similarity index and segmentation error. The experimental results prove that the proposed method yields consistent results irrespective of noise levels.

In this paper, first we discuss some basic knowledge about the random network coding, then we introduce the random linear network coding with some simple models. Secondly, we will consider the coding over packets that randomly arrive to a source node for transmission to a single destination. Then, for broadcasting retransmission, any node of multi-nodes requests the retransmission of information packets. This approach always needs large amounts of broadcasting packets. And, at last, we present a queuing model for a random linear coding scheme that adapts to the amount of traffic at the source node.

To avoiding the deficiency of energy-saving in the Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy(LEACH) of Wireless Sensor Network, an improved protocol-the Energy and Distance Based Clustering Protocol(EDBCP) is proposed. The energy and distance are introduced into the cluster_head selection method. The optimal number of cluster_heads is determined, the distribution of the heads can be more balanced, and the lifetime of WSN be extended.

Resource allocation for the uplink of OFDMA wireless networks is considered. In view of the distributed power constraints of the uplink, a low complexity resource allocation scheme for heterogeneous traffic is proposed. The scheme satisfies fixed-rate and variable-rate users via differentiated services. In the subcarrier allocation algorithm for fixed-rate users, a priority function based on user's channel state and power constraint is introduced to improve spectrum efficiency. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can exploit multiuser diversity, and approach good tradeoffs between performance and complexity, efficiency and fairness.

Generally MIMO uncorrelated channel can be obtained at the price of using high antenna spacing or precoding systems which are not only awkward to the requirement of the limited space platforms but also add to complexity of implementation. In this paper the multiple- input multiple - output millimeter wave channel is studied. We assume that the system is surrounded by the scattering environments. For an achievable significant low amount of correlation channel, in order to be closed to that of uncorrelated channel, the proposed system is shown to be mountable on small platforms such as the mobile handset. As application, the performance of the orthogonal space-time block codes (OSTBC) over the channel is simulated and shown closer to that of uncorrelated channel.

Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) is a necessary prerequisite to make mobile vehicle truly autonomous, which is a hot research topic today. FastSLAM as a successful SLAM method abstracts many researchers' attentions. FastSLAM factors the SLAM problem into a localization problem and a mapping problem in which the landmark position is estimated by EKF. A modified FastSLAM is presented for uninhabited aerial vehicle (UAV), using UKF to replace the EKF to estimate the landmark position. So we can improve the estimation precision, at the same time no need to linearize the sensor observation model and to compute its Jacobian matrix.

The brain-computer interface (BCI) based on motor imagery was investigated in this paper. A neural networks classifier was adopted to solve the problem of lower classification accuracy in BCI. Firstly, mu rhythm EEG was obtained with a bandpass filter from the subject's scalp electroencephalography (EEG). Secondly, the Kalman Filter algorithm was used to build the adaptive autoregressive model from EEG. The model parameters were used as features of EEG. Lastly, the AAR feature parameters were classified by the neural networks classifier. A compare on the performance between the neural networks and linear discriminant analysis(LDA) was conduct in the simulation. The results show the performance of neural networks is higher than linear discriminant analysis.

We proposed a method of multi-sensor information fusion based on Dempster-Shafer evidential theory for fault detection. At first, the basic probability assignment function (BPAF) is constructed based on probability statistics and fuzzy membership function. Then, the Dempster-Shafer evidential theory is applied to multi-sensor information fusion. Finally, the proposed method is applied to fault detection of a certain diesel engine. The experiment results indicate that the problem of multi-sensor information fusion in diesel engine fault detection is solved by using Dempster-Shafer evidential theory, and the uncertainty of single sensor information is avoided. The proposed methods are effective and the conclusions of fault detection are creditable.
