O presente trabalho tem por objetivo analisar a dinâmica existente na cadeia social e economica da atividade extrativista vegetal e o seu papel como um agente potencial responsavel pelo crescimento de areas desertificadas no Cariri paraibano. A diminuicao das areas florestais no Brasil, em particular da Caatinga, esta intrinsecamente relacionada a forma de ocupacao territorial e ao modelo de producao estabelecido no Brasil rural desde o inicio da era colonial. Na regiao Nordeste, historicamente, ha uma grande dependencia da populacao, principalmente as de baixa renda, em relacao ao produto florestal como fonte de energia, tanto no consumo domestico quanto para fins economicos. Nesse caso, a comercializacao desses produtos ganha forte contorno, visando atender o mercado interno (estadual), mas tambem o mercado externo, com destaque para o vizinho estado de Pernambuco. This paper aims to present and discuss neotectonic activity in the alcaline massifs of Itatiaia e Passa Quatro in its part situated in the Minas Gerais State through structural analysis techniques (geomorphic indexes, lineament extraction) and investigation of topographic levels entending to establish connections to geomorphic surfaces the exist in the area. The results recognized a recent and active tectonic, acting on the deformation of geomorphologic surfaces and on the relief’s and drainage’s configuration.

The advance of soy agribusiness in the Brazilian Amazon Region is a result of the agricultural modernization processes which derivates of the Capital in rural spaces. In the south of Rondonia, the productive regionalization of soy modifies the rural- -urban relations and constitutes the corporative use of the territory by the hegemo- nic corporations of agribusiness. The reduction of the population in the rural areas and the enlargement of the cities are geographical impacts of this process which fragments the Rondonia’s spaces from the production of its commodity.

The theoretical debate about the geographical scales had increased during the last two decades, especially in the Anglophone context but without great interest of the Brazilian geography. This article seeks to reread two Brazilian publications of the 70’s and 80’s that develops some points about this subject, although they are frequently forgotten by the national literature. Some recent reflections made in the Anglo-Saxon context will be used as a contrast. The scalar perspective over the history of geographical thought, the emphasis in the coexistence of different scales in each parcel of the reality, and the perspective of the geographical scales as outcomes of spatial processes are some of the original contributions of these two. Finally, I want to reinforce the importance of a renew and an update of the discussion concerning the geographical scales in Brazil, once that this scales are constitutive elements of the thoughts and of the actions, making them important and efficient instruments of power.

This article aims to analyze the dynamics of local/regional development experiences, based on a territorial and scalar approach, using Political Geography contributions. In this perspective, the processes of territorial development refer to power relations, in other words, the ability actors to make decisions and restructure the space, to impregnate new uses on the territory, which, in turn, stems from multiscale dynamics. We will use these references to analyze the biofuels production experiences, implemented by family farmers in northwestern Rio Grande do Sul.

Este ensaio teorico-pratico foi desenvolvido a partir de estudos realizados na pos- -graduacao. Analisa o papel do bairro como mediacao necessaria ao entendimen- to da cidade, da regiao e dos vinculos mais gerais da sociedade. Tomamos como referencial empirico o bairro da Parangaba, na cidade de Fortaleza-CE. Por isso, resgatamos as nocoes de reproducao, cotidiano e escala cunhadas por autores marxistas. Depois, procedemos a pesquisa em jornais da cidade, entrevistamos moradores e colhemos dados estatisticos em orgaos oficiais. Concluimos que ha uma espacialidade da reproducao apreensivel no nivel mais banal. Logo, por ser do âmbito qualitativo, o bairro deve ser investigado.

The article discusses the changes in the Brazilian society under the transformism of the Lula-Dilma Rousseff ’s government. Its thesis is that these changes, read in the light of long-term trends of the national historical process, and occurring simultaneously as territorial restructuring, are in the process of bringing this same social formation to the stage of full maturity capitalist.

Modernization of objects to customer music’s and equipment’s used to music’s production is redrafting geography’s space and urban economics at Brazilians ci- ties. The urban tissue offer a shelter to different social actors: big companies and small business found your place at big cities. The urban system could be analyzed thought two subsystem’s: the upper circuit and the lower circuit. The marginal upper circuit is where records studios and little activities related to the music production belong. The tendency to oligopolistic status in the music is crescent. However, at the same time, small business had been your space in the urban ma- rket. This article propose to identify some points in this new dynamic of music in the urban economic system at Brazilians cities.
