This research aims to apply the City X Project as a 6-hour workshop for gifted students and evaluate the workshop. The study group consists of 25 gifted secondary school students (13 Female, 12 Male) who continue their education at the Science and Art Center (SAC) in a city center. During the application process, gifted students were introduced to the City X project, and information regarding the design thinking method was presented. The story of City X was provided to the students via a digital presentation. The given information was as follows: in the recent past, 40 people from the world were sent to a distant planet to form a colony and these people started to found City X city. City X citizens illustrate the specifics of the issues they face through "citizen cards" in many fields such as health, transportation, safety, and communication to the students and ask them for assistance in addressing the problems. The students are divided into 9 groups that have 2 to 3 participants using the game "Team Meter" during the execution of the workshop. Worksheets, a laptop or desktop computer with an internet connection, citizenship cards, a pen and paper were provided to each group to be used at each stage of the design thinking process. Students selected one of the citizenship cards and used the design thinking method to solve the problem written by the owner of the citizenship card. At the stage of empathy, they evaluated the emotions of the person they selected, and in the definition stage, they defined the social area of the problem raised by the City X citizen. The students later generated ideas for the solution of the specified problem, wrote their ideas on the worksheet, and picked an idea to prototype by group decision. The students prototyped their ideas during the prototyping and testing stages by drawing on the worksheet and completed their creations in various versions by providing feedback to each other. In the sharing stage, 2-dimensional drawings are transformed into 3-dimensional forms via Tinkercad and SketchUp programs. The 3D drawings were saved and submitted to the e-mail address of the City X administrator to be printed on the City X 3D printer. The worksheets used in the design thinking process, three-dimensional models, and the working dynamics of the groups were evaluated by students via Kahoot! web 2.0 tool. The criteria stated in the Kahoot! digital evaluation tools were scored in the range of 1-4 points. The views of students about the workshop were also collected verbally. The students reported that they enjoyed the process of design thinking, that they were pleased to do 3D drawings, that they wished to specialize in 3D design, and that they had several problems with teammates occasionally. One can suggest that the methods applied in the City X workshop can also be included in the course designs within the scope of STEM courses and design thinking methods can be adopted in SAC framework programs.
Kahoot!

Studies in the literature show that mindfulness provides many benefits to individuals in their academic, social and working life. Although the concept of mindfulness is gradually increasing its use in the intercultural literature, it is seen that there has not been enough empirical research on the role of mindfulness in intercultural relations and the variables related to intercultural relations. One of the intercultural variables is intercultural sensitivity. In today's world, which is getting richer with increasing diversity, it can be said that approaching intercultural sensitivity from the framework of mindfulness will provide a more comprehensive understanding. Acceptance of diversity is one of the variables that are heavily included and emphasized in the culturally sensitive approach processes. Therefore, it is thought that mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches will positively affect intercultural sensitivity. In this study, it was aimed to reveal the roles of mindfulness and acceptance of diversity variables in predicting the intercultural sensitivity levels of university students. The study is a descriptive research in which the correlational survey model was used and the data were collected with the convenience sampling method. After obtaining ethical committee permissions, 336 university students (58.03% female; 41.97% male students) participated voluntarily in the study. Acceptance of Diversity Scale (ADS), Adolescent and Adult Mindfulness Scale (AAMS), Intercultural Sensitivity Scale (ISS), participant information form prepared by the researcher were used as data collection tools. The collected data were analyzed with the SPSS 24.00 statistical package program. Multiple Linear Regression Analysis and Pearson Product Moment Correlation techniques were used in the analyses. The findings revealed that the sub-dimensions of Adolescent and Adult Mindfulness Scale -focus on the present moment, being non-reactive, non-judgmental, self-accepting- and acceptance of diversity explained 33% of intercultural sensitivity level. Also, it was observed that there are positive and significant relationships between intercultural sensitivity and acceptance of diversity, AAMS’ s total score, and AAMS’ s sub-dimensions. As a result, it is a necessity to provide an inclusive and supportive environment free from discrimination for every individual of society and to protect their well-being. In order to foster intercultural sensitivity; it is of great importance to promote mindfulness and acceptance of diversity. Findings were discussed in line with the literature; suggestions were presented to the field practitioners and researchers.

Science and Art Centers (BİLSEM) operate within the body of the Ministry of National Education (MEB) in Turkey in order to develop individual talents and raise awareness of gifted students in preschool, primary school, secondary school and high school in a way that does not disrupt their education at schools. Identifying gifted students at an early age and educating them in line with their abilities is of great importance not only for the individual happiness of these children, but also for the society. In this direction, the main purpose of the study is to examine the value acquisitions of gifted students studying at Science and Art Centers (BİLSEM) in terms of different variables. The sample of the study, which was designed in accordance with the quantitative approach according to the survey model, consists of 712 BİLSEM students from 14 different provinces determined by the maximum diversity sampling method. The “Values Education Scale” developed by Beldağ (2012) and consisting of seven sub-dimensions was used to collect the data. T-test and one-way analysis of variance were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the variables of gender, mother's education level, grade level, type of program followed and special interest (hobby) were effective in the value acquisition of gifted students. In line with the results of the study, it has been suggested to include more values education practices in the contents of BİLSEM.

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the reflective thinking levels of secondary school mathematics teacher candidates and their philosophical thoughts about the nature of mathematics. In addition, it was also aimed to examine whether the reflective thinking levels of pre-service mathematics teachers differ significantly according to the absolutist, mixed and quasi-experimental groups. For this purpose, the relational survey model was used in the research. The research was carried out with 196 volunteer secondary school mathematics teacher candidates studying in the mathematics education program in the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. At the end of the study, it was determined that both the reflective thinking levels of the mathematics teacher candidates and their philosophical thoughts about the nature of mathematics were at a high level. In addition, it was determined that there was a moderately significant positive correlation between the sub-dimensions of the reflective thinking levels of pre-service mathematics teachers and their philosophical thoughts about the nature of mathematics, which explained 44%. In addition, it was determined that the reflection sub-dimension predicted the prospective teachers' philosophical thoughts on the nature of mathematics positively, and the habit sub-dimension statistically predicted negatively. Finally, it was concluded that there is a statistically significant difference between the quasi-experimental group, mixed and absolutist groups in favor of the quasi-experimental group in the critical reflection, reflection and comprehension skills of the secondary school mathematics teacher candidates, and in the habit sub-dimension, there is a statistically significant difference between the absolutist group, the mixed and quasi-experimental groups in favor of the absolutist group has been reached.

The aim of this study is to present studies on nature and environmental education in related literature from 1977 to the present time by using bibliometric method. Nature and environmental education, which has an increasing popularity especially in the last years, gain a place in so many countries’ teaching policy. Thus, increasing number of scientific studies and researches on this field in the related literature draw attention. In this study, publications in nature and environmental education have been examined both bibliometrically and in content, and their distribution by years, institutions, journals, citations and the features of co-works have been presented with descriptive and visual maps. Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection database has been used in obtaining data. “Nature education” and “Environmental education” terms were scanned with the aim of reaching highest number of studies from database. A total of 1312 publications have been included in study through various filtering processes. Bibliometric analysis techniques have been used in data analysis. VOSviewer programme has been used in determining the network analysis of those data obtained. In the study, the distribution of publications by years, the authors with the most publications, the journals, institutions and countries with the most publications have been determined. Besides, those data obtained have been discussed in the light of related literature by forming visual maps together with co-author, co-citation taken together, co-word and co-citation analyses. At the end of the study, some suggestions have been provided in the light of findings obtained.

It is known that gifted individuals who receive education in Science and Art Centers (BİLSEM) have problems in reaching different educations in accordance with their individual competencies. This study aimed to determine the expectations of gifted students towards distance education, to show that this training can be given with the distance education method after the courses offered through distance education, and to develop an alternative way for the future. Explanatory sequential design, one of the mixed research types in which quantitative and qualitative research designs are used together, was employed in the research. The study group of the research consisted of 40 gifted students and 40 parents of these students in three BİLSEMs. The quantitative data of the study were analyzed by using the SPSS program. Quantitative data of the study were obtained with a "10-items student online learning expectations form and 5-items parent evaluation form". Qualitative data of the study were obtained with an 8-items student self-evaluation form. In the research, 4 weeks of distance education were given to the students; "Astronomy, Thinking Skills, Teaching Mathematics with Origami, Robotic Coding, Intelligence Games and Values Education" lessons were explained, and the data obtained at the end of the application were analyzed and interpreted with the MAXQDA program. As a result, it is revealed that gifted students in BİLSEMs are quite satisfied with the distance education training within this study's scope. In addition, the present study showed that education programs can be rearranged and made suitable for distance education for the emergent transitions to distance education that emerged with the Covid-19 pandemic.
