Recent advances in neurosciences and an attempt to explain properties of consciousness has opened new frontiers to understand the properties of consciousness from various perspectives like quantum biology, neurophysiology, neuropsychology, quantum physics, computer science and several other disciplines. Here we describe a state of consciousness known as Shatvadhan. Shatvadhan in Jainism means one hundred states of extraordinary attention of the brain. In this state a person will listen or observe one hundred questions of different types from one hundred persons or more for over a period of say 2-3 hours without break and without using any paper or pen or electronic device. This is a demonstration of extraordinary memory to retain and recall questions and their answers in same sequence, reverse sequence or random sequences involving complex questions. This appears to represent a new state of consciousness which involves demonstration of extra ordinary memory, highly sequential ordering of memory, recalling, remembering sequences also in which memories of events are stored, simultaneous storing information from different sense organs and others. This also involves mathematical computations which are done in parts in different activities and simultaneous observations of pictures and listening of audio sounds. It appears that this process represents a new state of consciousness mostly found in saints who are highly advanced in the process of spiritual development. An analysis of this may provide new avenues of thought regarding storage and recalling mechanism of memory in the human brain. It may also involve non-local information transfer in the brain through quantum holography and similar mechanism.

When I saw Mrs. XYZ elderly female patient was brought to my OPD for my consultation by her family member. The patient was blissfully unaware of the fact that her foot wound had crawling maggots! Knowing that she was a diabetic for the last 15 years I decided to do a complete foot and limb evaluation as well a complete examination of the patient. I learnt that she was psychologically depressed.

Introduction: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO2) aims to address ischemia resulting from brain injury by subjecting patients to an atmosphere that dramatically raises the concentration of inspired oxygen (100% O2 at greater than 1 ATA). This results in elevated levels of oxygen in the plasma, which in turn boosts the delivery of oxygen for diffusion to the brain tissue.

Ongoing studies to understand the mechanisms behind intracranial aneurysm (IA) pathogenesis characterize intracranial aneurysm as a maladaptive chronic inflammatory disease. An overwhelmingly large number of studies implicate inflammation as a crucial driver of aneurysmal growth and attendant rupture. The induction of aneurysmal formation begins with endothelial damage, which secondarily activates a progressive inflammatory response that compromises the structural integrity of the vessel wall. Pivotal consequences of this inflammatory response is a disintegration of the internal elastic lamina, myointimal hyperplasia, and vascular smooth muscle cell (vsmc) phenotypic modulation and subsequent apoptosis. Interestingly, analysis of gene expression profiles in patients with intracranial aneurysms commonly highlight a differential expression of genes related to inflammatory/immune responses, cell adhesion, and muscle contraction. A detailed understanding of intracranial aneurysmal pathogenesis may be possible by analyzing morphological differences in aneurysmal structure between unruptured and ruptured lesions. As such, in this review, we have attempted to understand sequential adaptations of the aneurysmal wall during various periods of growth, development and rupture by providing evidence for structural, genetic, and molecular differences between unruptured and ruptured intracranial aneurysm.

Vascular smooth muscles play a vital role in the growth and propagation of cerebral aneurysms. These highly dynamic cells, characterized by a high degree of plasticity, show structural and functional modifications in response to external environmental influences. Following sustained endothelial injury, vascular smooth muscles avail a new functional capability characterized by proinflammatory, and promatrix remodeling abilities, losing the normal contractile and synthetic ability. Switching of differentiated vascular smooth muscle cells into undifferentiated inflammatory vascular smooth muscle cells followed by eventual apoptosis decreases the production of collagen, a vital component of the structural matrix, rendering the vessel wall less responsive to cyclical hemodynamic pressure swings and more susceptible to aneurysmal dilatation and rupture. The goal of this review is to understand the structural and functional modifications that vascular smooth muscle cells undergo during the natural course of cerebral aneurysm formation with a particular focus on the contributory molecular mechanisms

Life has been incredibly challenging and unfamiliar ever since the world was shocked by the coronavirus. People said that their anxiousness and anxieties about the future had increased. The current study looked at how Adjustment Problems (AP) and Emotional Intelligence (EI) related to one another during the COVID-19 period. The online survey involved 105 participants, whose ages ranged from 18 to 55 years. Brief Adjustment Scale-6 (BASE-6) and a personal data sheet were used to assess AP and EI, respectively using the Emotional Intelligence Scale (BEIS-10) created by Davies and Lane, et al. (2010) and the Brief Adjustment Scale-6 (BASE-6). Data was gathered using an online Google Form. Results showed that there was no statistically significant difference in AP according to demographic data, including gender, age group, marital status, socioeconomic status, and level of education. On the basis of demographic data (Gender, Age group, marital status, and Socio-economic position) insignificant difference in EI was discovered, whereas significant disparities were observed in levels of education. Anxious was significantly positively correlated with Appraisal of others’ emotions. Irritability, anxiety, depression and total AP was significant negatively correlated with Regulation of own emotions. Depression was significantly negatively correlated with Utilization of emotions and total EI. Regulation of own emotions and Appraisal of others’ emotions significantly contributed to the 5.2% and 4.0% of the variance thereby successfully predicting AP. EI is a learned ability. The coronavirus epidemic has put pressure on both personal and professional lives, as it does with all crises. People need to exercise extreme discipline and self-control under this situation. These scenarios need to be handled extremely effectively, but if stress and strain from a crisis combine, it would be challenging to handle the issue, particularly during current COVID-19 epidemic.
