This study aimed to analyze the production cost and the profitability of tambaqui creation in ponds in different economic scenarios in the Pará State. The inputs prices were consulted in the municipalities of Peixe-boi, Igarapé-açu, Castanhal and Goianésia, while the first commercialization price of the product was obtained in Tracuateua, Paragominas and Goianésia, between January and August 2018. Subsequently, four economic scenarios were projected, varying the feed conversion and the price of the product. It was concluded that the tambaqui creation in ponds can be profitable, provided that it is carried out with adequate zootechnical and economic controls.

The objective of this study was to analyze the history and current status of tilapia farming in the state of Pará. Field observations and interviews were carried out with government agency technicians and fish farmers, from January 2014 to December 2016. It was found that the tilapia was brought to Pará State in the 1970s and, currently, the Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is the only species produced. The minimum slaughter weight of 200 grams, marketing in whole form to the detriment of the filleted fish in the retail market, and the absence of sex reversal initiatives are peculiar features of Pará state’s tilapia farming, as compared with that of the other Brazilian states.

This paper presents an analysis of the innovation in the development of passion fruit cultivars in Brazil from the 1990s. The analysis is carried out based on primary and secondary data on the productive evolution of the passion fruit cultivation and its technology transfer process. The main contributions are the presentation of the innovation process of passion fruit and its importance for the productive chain development and the characterization of the geographical distribution of evolutionary indicators of production, harvested area and technology transfer of the IAC passion fruit cultivars. From the results we can infer that the efficiency of planning, management and evaluation of technology transfer actions should be continuous and interactive with RD&I.

The objective was present the potential of selling tilapia fillets in hypermarkets, supermarkets, restaurants and food trucks, identifying the number of establishments that sell and buy this product, as well as prince of products, year 2019. A field research was carried out in three regions of the city. The values of the three species of fish competing in the filet market, tilapia had the highest value with R$ 35.94, followed by pangasius with R$ 26.95, hake in third with R$ 25.97 and finally mapará with R$24.77. Food trucks purchase a large amount of steaks per month, showing that this segment heats up the regional economy.

A co-product of cheese-manufacturing, whey protein is an important component in dairy processing. It has a multifarious range of applications, depending on the processors’ level of complexity. Often discarded or fed raw to livestock, whey protein can be processed into different food and nonproducts by the food, animal feed, health supplement, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Because Brazil’s capacity for processing whey protein and its derivatives is insufficient to meet the market demand, imports are necessary. The country’s whey production is dispersed, making the collection logistics difficult to implement due to the product’s high perishability and high cost of deploying the technology needed to process it. The objectives of this work were to size and delimit the whey production and to analyze, through a case study with two companies, aspects and characteristics of whey powder production, whose raw material is liquid or concentrate whey. There is a great potential for this byproduct to be industrialized if the logistics of raw material collection is improved and policies are adopted to foster research into new technologies and financing. That will allow the country’s self-sufficiency in industrial whey protein and participation in the international market as a supplier in this segment.

The outcomes derived from two methodologies used in the state of São Paulo in the crop year 2015-16 in coffee areas were evaluated in order to help improve the accuracy of the results about crop areas. In the first technique, the areas were estimated by orbital remote sensing. In the second model, the estimates were obtained by the subjective method. The estimates arising from these two methodologies are evaluated in this study by region and state. The high correlation found between both indicates that they can be combined, thus creating a new methodology that emphasizes the virtues of each method and minimizes their limitations.

The objective of this study was to carry out zootechnical and economic planning in leased fish farming that produces pintado da Amazônia in 1.69 ha of water depth and tambatinga at 1.37 ha, in the Alto Pantanal microregion, in order to verify its economic viability. Zootechnical planning was carried out based on the production values previously obtained at the property. For economic planning was used methodology of Operational Cost and Total Cost of Production, being also determined adequate rental value, as well as simulation with possible scenarios of zootechnical indicators and their influence under economic indicators, which at the end of the analyses demonstrated economic viability in the rental conditions.

The objective of this study is analyze the changes in land use in mesoregions of Araraquara, Assis and São José do Rio Preto caused expansion of the sugarcane and other important agricultural activities. Were used shift-share method, which allowed the analysis of the variation of cultivated areas, broken down into effects scale and replacement. The analysis occured in two distinct periods: expansion of sugar cane (2000-2009) and crisis in the sugarcane industry (2010-2014). The growing participation of sugarcane occured basically by the incorporation of new cultivable areas and the replacement areas occupied by various crops, especially areas cultivated with pastures.

The Ribeira Valley in the 1990s was the largest producer of freshwater fish from the state of São Paulo. Fish farming can once again be highlighted if the obstacles in the production chain are overcome. The objective of this study was to economically evaluate the production of Nile tilapia and pacu in nurseries excavated in rural properties in the Ribeira Valley, southern state of São Paulo. The mean values obtained on the properties were 0.5 kg of final weight for tilapia and 1.0 kg for pacu, apparent feed conversion of 2:1 for tilapia and 1.3:1 for pacu and survival of 76,6% for tilapia and 55.9% for pacu. The economic data, per cycle, also for the properties studied, showed an average disbursement of R$2,900.52, gross income of R$2,689.42, net negative income of R$211.10 and a total operating cost of R$5.75 per kilogram. The creation of Nile tilapia and pacu represented a profitable investment in some properties.

This article presents cost estimates for the establishment, development and maintenance of rubber plantations, as well as net revenue and profitability. The data are presented for the D4 tapping system, the most commonly used in the State of São Paulo. The total operating cost (TOC) for the formation of one hectare in 6 years is estimated to be 8.01 USD. To maintain the full productivity of the plantation the TOC is 0.96 USD per kg of coagulated rubber. The labor force percentage participation and the expenses associated with its use reach 61.2% of the TOC. The results of the profitability analysis show that a good management of the tapping system is determinant to reduce the production cost per unit and increase the attractiveness of the rubber culture.
