In the years 2018, 2019 and 2020, several properties in the state of São Paulo had their rubber plantations devastated due to the occurrence of fires. The present work has as objective, to present some occurrences and to guide the rubber growers, regarding the risks and the precautions that can be taken to prevent the risk of fire inside the rubber plantations. The observed results, allowed to conclude that in the rubber plantations affected by fires, where it is done the proper handling, the recovery of the plants and the risk of eradication of the plantations are less.

The Regulation of Industrial and Sanitary Inspection of Products of Animal Origin (RIISPOA) guides the inspection and control of industrial animal processing establishments and there are enterprises that still do not meet their requirements. This study aimed to analyze the technical and economic feasibility adapting a fish-processing unit by RIISPOA requirements. The project localized in Augusto Corrêa (01°01’27’’S – 46 ° 39’14’’W), Pará state, operates exclusively with marine fish from extractive activities and mainly sells frozen fish fillet. Between January and August 2018 field observations were made to collect information regarding the industrial plant and the operational flow chart. Subsequently, an economic analysis carried out based on the operational cost of production methodology and economic efficiency indicators. It founded that the built area of the enterprise was 325.02 m2. The main processed species were: corvina (Cynoscion virescens), uritinga (Sciades proops), gó hake (Macrodon ancylodon), gurijuba (Sciades parkeri) and yellow hake (Cynoscion acoupa). The physical structure and operational flowchart of the processing were not in compliance with the regulation, mainly due to the lack of good manufacturing practices, standard hygiene procedures and hazard analysis and critical control points. It concluded that the adequacy is feasible from a technical and economic aspect, despite requiring high financial investment in infrastructure and adoption of programs aimed at quality control.

This study assessed the search for technical assistance in Brazilian coffee production and analyzed its correlation with the levels of management and size of rural firms, producing regions and with the adoption of agricultural certifications. It was applied the Management Degree Identification Method (MIGG) to 1174 companies and it was used descriptive statistics. In firms that seek technical assistance and participate in collective organizations, management levels are higher than in others. Adherence to collective organizations is greater among certified firms and among large companies, and the search for technical assistance outside those organizations is greater in smallholdings.

This study aimed to analyze the cost of production and the profitability of creating pirarucu in nurseries excavated in different economic scenarios in the state of Pará. The price of inputs was consulted in the municipalities of Igarapé-açu, Castanhal and Goianésia, while the price of the first commercialization of the product was obtained in Quatipuru and Paragominas, between January to August 2018. Subsequently, four economic scenarios were projected, varying the apparent feed conversion and the price of the product. It was concluded that the creation of pirarucu in excavated nurseries, with feed as the only source of food, does not represent a profitable investment in Pará.

The objective of this study was to analyze the profile of fish consumers in two municipalities of the Brazilian Amazonian coast in order to identify consumption preferences for marine and freshwater fish from extractive and captive fishing. Questionnaires were applied to 400 consumers, equally divided between Bragança and Tracuateua, in Pará State. The approach took place in municipal markets and street fairs between August and November 2017. Results indicate that despite their low purchasing power the analyzed municipalities present a high frequency of fish consumption, with Tracuateua being more attractive for commercializing freshwater fish, including the tambaqui (Colossoma macropopum, Characidae) from fish farming.

Differences in agricultural productivity may not be clearly detected with the politicaladministrative division constituted by adjacent areas of municipalities. The objective of this work was to identify the productivity of rural areas, with productive activity, in groups of agricultural products in the municipalities of the state of São Paulo. It involved variables on the gross value of production and types of use in rural areas. Production in municipalities was concentrated in certain sets of products, with productive diversification not occurring in municipalities, but in clusters of municipalities and more sharply in regions with higher productivity.

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the profile of Sao Roque’s agroecological farmers’ market from farmers’ perspective. Profile, income, farmers’ view about agroecology, marketing channel, aim of the farmers’ markets and relationship with pandemic were analysed using quali-quantitative methodology. Results demonstrated that pandemic highlighted the importance of short food circuits and this farmers’ market was proved to be an effective channel, which provided income increase. Farmers’ market proved to be a place of resilience, which offers healthy food supply and improves food safety and security.

The state of São Paulo holds a significant share of Brazil’s peach production, being the country’s second largest peach producer in 2015. Focused on the fresh market, this crop has an important input in the workforce. The objective of the study is to analyze the data of the All-purpose Technical Assistance Coordination (CATI) of the Institute of Agricultural Economics (IEA) regarding the following aspects: planted trees (new and in production), production results, state’s production value, number of people employed, and growers’ income in the different production process stages, between the years of 2013 and 2017. The finding of the analyzed data pointed out that São Paulo’s peach production share is concentrated (86.4%) in four regions of the state (Campinas, Bragança Paulista, Itapeva and Avaré). Data analysis leads to the conclusion that there been not only a trend to decrease peach cultivation, but also a migration of this production to other areas in the last years. Investments in research are needed to create new crop varieties and improve the handling and post-harvest management of these fruits, allied with public policies for the state to regain its production levels. Government agencies should foster São Paulo’s peach production to avoid the rural exit, insofar as this culture is based on small farming.

The present study sought to analyze the economic viability of the new irrigated rice cultivars in the tropical lowlands of Tocantins, in a production system in succession rice-soybean. Costs of rice production (summer 2019/2020) and soybean (winter 2020) and yields for economic viability were collected. Adoption area of new rice varieties was estimated. The results demonstrate the economic viability of the new rice cultivars in relation to the previous cultivars, in the rice-soybean succession system. The economic impact (benefit) for the Tocantins rice producing region exceeds R$120 million (US$23 million).

The article shows that the early 1970s in Brazil saw administrative reforms and an organization of research, extension and services in the vegetable production sector that fostered the development of the industrial and fresh tomato supply chains in Brazil. From 1967 to 2015, industrial tomato production, introduced in the southeastern state of São Paulo, expanded in Brazil’s Northeast region in the 1980s and in the western-central state of Goiás state in the 1990s, which gained hegemony in this chain. During this period, Brazil’s average yield of industrial tomatoes exceeded the values recorded for fresh tomatoes. In the biennium 2014-15 global tomato production was 41 million tonnes, 23.6% lower than in the previous biennium, with Brazil having a production of 1.40 million tons in this year. Between the five first and last years of the 1990-2013 period, whereas Brazil’s tomato cultivation area increased by 7.0%, production increased by 93.0% led by a productivity increase from 37 t / ha to 76 t / ha. Thus, whereas productivity contributed to 97.0% of production expansion, the area contributed with 3.0%. In the biennium 2014-15, Brazil’s total tomato production was 4.00 million tonnes, 63.0% for fresh produce, and 37.0% for processed tomatoes. Over the 1990-2012 period, the cultivation area of table tomato expanded by 19.0%, while productivity increased by 40.0% and production by 67.6%, between the initial and last five-year periods. Hence, area contribution to product expansion was 28.4%, while that of was productivity 71.6%.
