The article is devoted to the study of the features of the use of lexemes-color designations in the Chuvash and Chinese languages on the material of phraseological and paremiological expressions. The problem is considered to be urgent because of the fact that it helps to determine the specifics of the world-image of peoples, which has been developing over many centuries, as well as to identify the values of the Chuvash and Chinese cultures, their similarities and distinctive features. It was revealed that the perception of color in each nation has certain specific features. The analysis of units showed that in the Chuvash and Chinese languages white, black, red, blue, yellow, green colors are most associated with feelings and emotions and form a kind of core of the color picture of linguistic culture. It was revealed that the differences in the linguocultural connotation of lexemes-color designations among the Chuvashes and the Chinese are determined by such factors as the geographical environment, myths, customs, and religious beliefs.

Knowledge of the territory of the region has been developing since the first days of cartography, in the XVIII century. Geography is the knowledge that is necessary to understand the landscape and geographical features of the place of residence, its transformation in the course of economic, historical and cultural development, as well as to prepare the region and the country for tomorrow. It is toponyms that act as living witnesses of the historical past and present of the region, expressed by means of language. The study of toponyms allows us to consider the meaning and origin of lexical units of this layer of the language, its evolution and functioning in the modern language. Deciphering toponyms makes it possible to restore the historical and cultural past of the region and the ethnos: toponyms perform the function of "accumulating memory" historical, event, ideological, linguistic, fixing the history of the region. This has become especially relevant in recent decades, when many geographical objects on the territory of Russia and its subjects are being renamed, old names are being returned to them, which changes the cultural and geographical landscape in the toponymic system of national identity. Toponymy is the most important element of the national educational system. It serves as a means of stimulating and developing interest in the study of the past and present of one's region by searching for links between geographical conditions and their reflection in geographical names. Toponymists investigate, as a rule, the relationship between natural conditions and their reflection in geographical names in order to know all the components of toponymy. The use of regional toponymic material more fully, more clearly characterizes the geographical environment, acts as a means of forming the toponymic literacy of students. The purpose of the article is the formation of toponymic literacy of students on the basis of generalized linguistic and cultural biographies of regional geographical objects. The object of the research is linguistic and cultural biography as a set of lexical semantic and structural grammatical means of representation of ideas about topoobjects objectified on the map and in the catalog of toponymic names. The novelty of the study of the problem of the formation of toponymic literacy of students in the framework of this work consists in the integration of cycles of disciplines of natural science and humanities, while the previous concepts were based on the construction of cognitive activity of students in the study of disciplines of the natural geographical cycle. The structural and semantic aspect of language learning is necessary for the formation of language competence. It is supplemented by the cultural aspect, which forms cultural competence and stimulates the familiarization of students with cultural and nationally significant values of the region of residence. Shadowing is a technique in which language learners repeat aural stimuli in a foreign language without a delay. Even though this approach has been used extensively in interpreter training programmes and language classes in Japan, it is still relatively unknown in the West. This technique has proven to be particularly beneficial in terms of pronunciation development: it was reported to lead to the improvement of articulation speed, word accent, pitch accent, intonation, comprehensibility, and imitation skills. In this study, the main focus was directed towards the acquisition of English pronunciation via shadowing by 29 Mexican learners in an online environment. The learners carried out two tasks (reading aloud and shadowing a fable by Aesop) at the beginning and at the end of a pronunciation course, following the pretest-posttest experimental design. This investigation may be particularly valuable since it was conducted in an exclusively virtual environment and combines the latest trends of information and communications technology and applied linguistics. In spite of the fact that the study is still in progress, the preliminary analyses of the audios and of the learners’ questionnaires suggest that shadowing appears to be highly valuable in terms of comprehensibility development as it facilitates the acquisition of such prosodic features as sentence stress, rhythm, and intonation. Accentedness showed less improvement in most English learners for various reasons. Regarding the learners’ attitude towards shadowing, the results of the final questionnaire indicate that this technique positively affects learners’ motivation. The preliminary findings obtained in this investigation are reported in light of the past-to-present literature in the sphere of shadowing, Troubetzkoy’s phonological sieve theory and the current models of language acquisition: Long’s sensitive periods theory and Flege’s Speech Learning Model.

The formation of a culture of tolerance is one of the tasks of upbringing. Throughout their life, a person learns to be tolerant towards other people and to respect and accept others as they are. It is very peacefully coexist and interact. At the same time, the child may well not share and not accept this “moral knowledge”. Even if the child is not able to realize this, the main thing is that they be familiar with it. At the second level, the teacher must create conditions for the development of the child's “moral skills” – the ability to work in a team, the ability to listen and hear another, to negotiate with them, to accept the differences between the other person and themself and take those differences into account when communicating and interacting, and the ability to resolve conflict situations with dignity and tact. Again, the main thing is to show how to act correctly and to give the child the opportunity to show all these skills in a playful situation. But in a real-life situation, the child may not be interested in using them. The third level, the most desirable and difficult to achieve – “moral mastery” – depends not only on the teacher but also on the child themself, on their environment. This is the child's internal acceptance of moral values as their own and the only possible behavior in situations of choice is in accordance with them. This is where educational and educational efforts are directed.
